"Miss Abigail Snow?" the man greeted her. "You are the one who wanted to rent the rooftop, right?"
"Yes, I am," She replied, walking toward him to get a bit closer and trying to look friendly.
The man gazed at Abigail for a few seconds before introducing himself.
"I’m Peters, the homeowner," he said, friendly and politely. "I’ll show you the house where you will rent. Please follow me."
Abigail walked towards the door and noticed the small house number—twenty. She also saw a digital lock door beside the house number.
"I will give you the password code immediately after you sign the contract," Peters said as if he knew what Abigail was thinking.
Abigail smiled quietly as she passed the door. She was surprised to see a not-too-big room behind the fence resembling a guard room. A man in a black tactical suit sitting inside gave a slight nod to them.
After walking a few meters along the stone path, Abigail finally saw a three-story modern house with an earth-tone color facade.
The front yard garden looked stunning, but she didn’t have time to enjoy it. Peters’ giant stride left her behind, and she needed to walk faster to match his step. The stone path led to the backyard.
Not long after, she saw a black metal door on the small terrace behind the house.
"This is the access straight to the rooftop. Only the tenant of the rooftop room, which would be you, can access it," Peters explained while glancing at Abigail. "The door password now is four zeros, and I suggest you change it immediately. Tenant safety is always my priority here," he added.
Abigail said nothing but nodded and followed him to climb the stairs.
There is a long glass wall up to the top floor to allow the light to come in and for her to see the backyard scenery along the way to the top floor.
Soon, they arrived at the fourth floor, the rooftop.
Once more, Abigail was stunned, looking at the beautiful flower bed and a few herbs on the rooftop. The garden and the view in the distance were enough to halt her briefly and feed her eyes with the stunning view.
However, Abigail didn’t have much time to enjoy the scenery because she saw Peters’s impatient gaze looking at her.
She immediately walked again and followed him to the tiny house, which occupied half of the building’s rooftop; the rest was a garden and outdoor patio.
"I rented this place for five years, but suddenly, my company transferred me to another branch, so I can’t stay here," Peters explained. He opened the door and gestured for her to enter first. He also informed her that the door password was identical to the door in the ground.freeweɓnovel~cѳm
As they walked inside and gave a brief house tour, Peters continued, "Too bad. My boss told me about it after I finished renovating the house. And I also can’t cancel my rental contract, or I will lose this house forever, and the building owner won’t return my renovation expense."
Abigail felt sorry to hear that, but deep down, she also felt joy because Peters was so unlucky to have such a boss who transferred him to another city right after he renovated this beautiful house.
"I don’t have a choice but to rent it to you for a few years before I return. I need you to take care of this place; that’s why I agree with your price offer," Peters said, gesturing for her to sit on the sofa.
After listening to Peters’ explanation, Abigail’s suspicions about him being a scammer slowly faded.
She sat in the small but cozy living room while looking around. She was impressed by the cleanliness and the simple yet luxurious furnishings.
"This place looks so pretty, and all the furniture here is brand new," Abigail said as she looked at Peters sitting opposite her. "I promise you, I will take good care of the house and not damage your furniture, Mr. Peters."
"Thank you, Miss Abigail. I appreciate it. I rented this place to you so you could take care of the house. Because if I didn’t rent it, the furniture would be damaged if no one lived here..."
Abigail tried not to show how happy she was to have found this house at a low price.
"That’s true, sir."
"Do you want to recheck the house before signing the rental contract?"
Abigail shook her head. The brief house tour she had earlier convinced her that this place was stunning. Of course, she will not refuse.
The house’s overall look was modern and expensive, with clean white walls and a few contemporary paintings hung on them. There was only one bedroom, which had a queen-sized bed in the middle of the room. The bedroom was decorated with new furniture, and a door was in the corner; she guessed it was the bathroom door.
The selling point of this house was the small, cozy living room connected to a modern kitchen with a massive glass wall overlooking the city. She could imagine how beautiful this place would be at night.
And this place was a hundred times better than Ryland’s old apartment.
"No need, sir," Abigail said. She could see that this man seemed in a hurry, and she didn’t want to steal his time with more house tours.
"So, are you willing to sign a contract now?" Peters asked, taking out a brown A4 document folder from the drawer on the small table beside him. "You can read the contract and sign it if you agree."
"Yes, sir," Abigail answered while accepting the document folder.
She found two sets of house rental contracts provided by 24 Century Realtors, the company she chose to find her a house, Mr. Caleb’s office. She could see her detailed information, like what she had given to the realtor.
However, when Abigail read the price she should pay, she was stunned; it was not monthly but yearly.
Abigail was going through the contract once more. Now, every word stipulated in the contract was slowly digested. As in the old contract, the first page listed the conditions she needed to follow while living there.[Party B can invite friends and family if they have permission from the owner of the house, Party A, by contacting the Guard at the front guard post.]Abigail nodded in agreement, reading the new revision."Wow! This is a big revision! Now I can invite Grandma to stay over here."Abigail smiled happily, but a second later, her smile slowly disappeared when she imagined her grandmother climbing the stairs to get to this place, the fourth floor. She dismissed the idea and continued reading the next page. However, not long after, she coughed. Abigail’s gaze fell on the digital clock on the nightstand."Who in their right mind is coming to someone’s house at nine in the morning?"ƒгeewёbnovel.comHowever, seconds later, her confusion slowly turned to worry as Mr. Peters’ face appeared in her mind."Oh my God! What if it’s Mr. Peters? And he’s come back to cancel the rental agreement?"Hearing her own words made Abigail’s knees feel weak. She immediately left the bedroom to check the person outside, praying it wasn’t Mr. Peters who had come to cancel the contract. Otherwise, she would be in trouble, needing to find a new place.Abigail didn’t rush to open the door. Still, she waited a bit, hoping the person outside had already left and wouldn’t bother her again. Or, she would pretend she didn’t hear the knock. However, her prayer was dashed as the person outside knocked on the door again, startling her.Taking a deep sigh, Abigail speaks, almost like whispers. "Abby, thanks for the latte. I’m looking forward to another latte from you."A faint smile slowly emerges on her lips as she reads Sawyer’s text message. She immediately replies to his text:"You’re welcome, Sawyer. Give me a call, or you can visit me at the café. I promise I’ll make you a better latte."Abigail hesitated before sending the text. She read it over several times, ensuring her words didn’t reveal her true intentions of wanting to meet him. After a moment, she deleted the long text and simply replied, "Sure, Sawyer."As she entered the house, a faint smile appeared on her face.It still felt surreal to her to be in such a luxurious house. She felt proud of herself for having this house all to herself, without sharing it with anyone like her ex."You did a good job, Abby!"Her happy, proud smile appeared on her lips as she walked toward the kitchen to check what she could eat without cooking too much.Although she was skilled at cooking, Abigail didn’t intend to do it. "Sir? Hello, Sir...? Are you still there?" Ethan asked worriedly.Sawyer cleared his throat before asking, "I’m still here, Ethan. Okay, so are you saying Ronan and Abigail met, but they didn’t know each other before?" This was the most crucial piece of information he needed to hear."Of course, they don’t know each other, sir," Ethan lightly laughed. He could sense jealousy from his big boss. Since he had worked for him, this had never happened before.Ethan became more certain that his boss liked Abigail Snow. He was curious and wanted to meet the girl who had managed to shake his boss’s heart.Hearing nothing from the other end, Ethan continued, "Sir, I arranged for Miss Abigail to stay at your house because her life is pitiful. Sawyer took a deep breath, feeling like a heavy weight was lifted from his shoulders after hearing her words."Thank you, Abby." He smiled at her and hit the gas pedal. The vehicle slowly began to move again."Okay. Tell me, where do you live?" Sawyer asked, focusing on the street ahead.Abigail asked him to return to the café because she didn’t remember her new house address; she only remembered how to get there from the café.Fifteen minutes later, Sawyer’s vehicle stopped in front of Abigail’s house. He was stunned beyond words when he saw the gates. After a few seconds, Sawyer, trying to suppress his shock, turned to her."Is this where you live now?" he asked."Yes, I’m staying here..." Abigail answered excitedly. She wanted to invite him to stop by. Still, a second later, she remembered the rental contract rule stating she couldn’t bring her friends or family onto the rooftop.Sawyer said nothing but silently looked at her beautiful smile as she spoke."Thank you so much for the
Abigail was puzzled. Her house was only a few minutes’ walk away.It would be troublesome if she rode in his car and made him drive her home. He must have something else to go and to do, right!?"Abby?" Sawyer’s gentle voice snapped Abigail from her thoughts. "Please get in. Is there something or someone you are waiting for?"Seeing his confused expression, she quickly got in and sat beside him. This was her second time sitting in his car, and she felt much more relaxed. After buckling up her seat belt without being asked, she looked at him."Abby, would you mind holding this for me, please?" Sawyer handed her the takeaway paper bag containing the cup holder she had given him earlier.Abigail nodded and immediately took the paper bag. She thought he wanted to unbuckle his seatbelt, but as usual, she could never predict what this man was about to do."So, how much is the coffee?" Sawyer asked while taking out his wallet, ready to reimburse the money she had spent for the coffee.Abigai
