Chapter 68: Axel

last update publish date: 2026-05-30 22:53:50
I have to pretend everything is fine.

Not like I made a deal with a devil. Not like I can feel myself breaking apart piece-by-piece. Not like everything since Olivia entered my life has turned upside down.

But like I’m fine.

The break passes too fast, almost like rest is running away from me. And soon I’m back in history class.

Luckily, I’m not the only one who seems off; my entire pack is in disarray: Ryker to my left, who hasn’t talked to me or stopped fidgeting in minutes. Hunter to m

I wanted us to have a little break form all the tension, so enjoy a little CrestRidge fucking around 😭😘

I come into the room, kissing Olivia’s forehead, and frown—her skin is burning. “Grief fever,” Axel grunts. “The doctor prescribed her some ibuprofen.” I nod, going over to the single metal chair in the room and slumping into it. “And you? What were you prescribed?” “Painkillers, mostly. You?” “Same.” He looks up at me. “You threw that shit away, right?” “Of course. I’m not making my parents pay for painkillers. I can handle some pain.” His lip twitches, hiding his smile. “Same.” We stare at each other for a moment. He looks as he always does, maybe with some bags under his eyes. I, on the other hand, must look like shit. He turns back to Olivia, muttering, “It suits you, you know?” “What does?” “Being Alpha.” I sit up, shock coursing through me. “Axel—” “I’m not giving you shit,” he insists. “I mean it, and I think deep down you know it too.” I gulp, not sure if I want to run from this conversation or use it to distract myself from Ricklan’s death and Oliv

  • Bite   Chapter 157: Hunter

Leaving Talon felt cruel, but I don't think Ryan Darlington would have wanted to see me right now if he knew what his son and I have gotten up to. I barrel down the white halls, the rose in my hand, with a single destination in mind—my dad’s room. But as I'm about to enter, a woman bursts out, looking paler than ever. I do a double take. “Mum?” Diane West’s eyes land on mine, and my heart breaks the second I see her worried brown eyes. “Hunter!” She breathes out the heaviest sigh of relief, wrapping me in her arms. “Baby, I was so worried about you. I got the message about what's been going on.” I'm a whole head taller than her, but I bend down and return the hug as tightly as possible. I rake my hands through her bobbed hair. “I’m sorry we scared you.” She pulls me back, eyes boring into mine. Anyone else would have yelled my head off. In fact, she should yell my head off. But my mother doesn’t have a single angry bone in her body. “Is Ricklan really dead?” she asks

  • Bite   Chapter 156: Talon

Hunter and I freeze. My father stands at the door, looking as intimidating as ever: the top three buttons of his shirt are undone, showing the swirl of his tattoos and a bulk of muscle I fear he may use to pummel Hunter. His bulging eyes flit between us. He didn’t actually see the kiss, but I think our position says enough. Hunter’s hand is still clutching my cheek, and I’m sure my lips look freshly wet, just like the boy sitting across from me.When my dad regains his voice, for the first time in my entire life, it’s quiet. “Hunter. Excuse us.”Hunter nods jerkily, shooting me an apologetic look. He grabs the rose from under my pillow and darts past my father, who shoots daggers at the world’s golden boy.The door closes behind him, plunging us into a tense silence. My father stays facing the door, his chest heaving hard. My throat has never felt drier. My fingers curl in the bedsheets until I pull them out of the bedframe.Lowly, my father asks, “Are you okay?”I take a deep breath.

  • Bite    Chapter 155: Axel

The nurse checks me in less than ten minutes, but if I thought I was okay, her worried response tells a different story. “You’re wounded nearly everywhere,” she scowls. “Nothing major—a few gashes here and there—but there are so many that you may need painkillers for the next few days.” I crook my brow. “So does that mean I can leave?” “It means that whatever happened to you must not repeat itself! Are you trying to get yourself killed?” I grimace. We, in fact, have gotten someone killed, and it’s killing my girl in return. So it’s killing me. Her eyes soften at my silence, and her voice does as well. “I’m glad you kids are okay. I don’t know your relationship with Ricklan, but I am sorry for your loss.” I run my hand over my pants, trying to avert her pitying gaze. I didn’t know him. I’ve been expected to grow up and be like him, but that doesn’t mean he meant anything to me. Still, death is death, and just like when my mother was killed, I want nothing more than to di

  • Bite   Chapter 154: Talon

“Alex,” Ryker seethes, “what the hell are you doing here?” This is the sort of situation that would have the old me reaching for a drink. And I can’t lie, the itch to down a couple of bottles of whiskey bites at me, but the thought of getting drunk and leaving Olivia in her state bites harder. Alex’s red-rimmed eyes flit between our group. “I—I feel bad about Ricklan.” “Fuck yes, you should feel bad,” Ryker snaps. “If you hadn’t gotten in our way, we could have killed Nester. We could have saved your people. Olivia’s dad would still be alive!” Alex clutches the rose closer to her chest, stepping back. “I didn’t think… I didn’t know…” She shuts her eyes, her throat working. “He promised me he was going to let you guys go.” “Yes, because the guy who enslaved an entire city is just the man you should trust.” Axel’s voice drips with surprising sarcasm. Even now, I assumed he’d be on her side. Her eyebrows crawl up. “It’s not—” “That simple?” Hunter finishes, tired eyes glaring at

  • Bite   Chapter 153: Ryker

We say we’ll take care of her, so that’s what we do. Hunter holds her up as the nurse examines her for wounds, and—thankfully—doesn't find anything but a few scratches. Talon helps her strip out of those bloody clothes as gently as possible. Axel relays the information the doctor needs about what happened, leaving out anything relating to Penwood for obvious reasons. And when the nurse walks her to the bathroom to help her wash off, I jump at the opportunity. I didn’t want to just sit around being useless. I want to show Olivia that I can be here for her no matter what happens, that she isn’t just someone I want when things are going good and we’re having fun. I take her from the nurse, ignoring the older woman's narrowed eyes. “This is a hospital,” the nurse informs me as I lead Olivia into the bathroom. “I hope you don’t intend to do anything funny in there.” I glare at her. What the fuck does she take me for? Even I’m not that much of an asshole. But looking at her is a mist

  • Bite   Chapter 67: Olivia

“I hope you grabbed everything, dear?” Theresa tells me outside her door the next day. I decided it’d be best if Talon spent the day in his house, calming down from everything that happened. Now it’s the next morning, and we’re both stable enough to return to our unstable lives. “I think so.” I sm

Predators. That’s what I’m surrounded by. No matter how nice this office is. No matter how pristine their suits are. I cannot forget that with just one bite, all four members of the council have the power to end my life. And they will. Or… most of them will. One offers me a sympathetic smil

  • Bite   Chapter 2: Hunter

Nothing makes you limp-dicked quicker than hearing a beautiful girl is going to die. Olivia gives me one last steely look, and then she walks through the principal’s door. “You have to leave Mr West.” Receptionist Marley tells me kindly. I smile at her, but inside I think I’m about to explode.

  • Bite   Chapter 1: Olivia

Fuck my fucking life. I stand in front of Lycroft College, my heart pounding so loud I’m worried all the werewolves inside can hear. “Don’t just stare.” Alpha Rick commands, yanking my box after me. “You didn’t tell me there would be so many wolves,” I say back, and he heaves the heaviest sigh
