An Invitation

A month had gone by since his 18th birthday meaning Chris and Dad had been busy with the last few things getting the pack prepared for the exchange of power. My daydreams of the life I want after my birthday next year have increased with vision of Princes too hot for anyone to believe actually existed and castles with grand balls, the feeling of what having a mate would be like thinking of the sparks Shane had given me. With Kyle moving out to Opal Moon to be with Lily it had cut the amount of people I can gossip with to almost no one with Lily and Kyle always being ‘busy’ when I tried to contact her about my thoughts and dreams but knowing what they were doing made me feel a little sick and didn’t want to even think about it. After all they are mates I shouldn’t have expected anything less than them always having sex.

At least this weekend I will see both of them as Chris is taking over from dad with it being the full moon completing the transfer now would mean a stronger bond with the pack and it would mean dad wouldn’t have to spend another month hanging over Chris’s shoulder.

“Honey, come down for lunch.” Mom interrupted my thoughts.

“I’ll be down in a minute.” Is it lunch already? I thought looking at my phone.

I had spent the whole day in bed binge watching Netflix shows. Being a teacher only day at school had its advantages. I got up and pulled on light grey sweats and my favorite oversize hoodie heading downstairs. Lunch looked amazing fresh fruits and finger sandwiches.

“This looks amazing Sam.” I beamed at our Chef as he hummed away to Ed Sheeran blasting out of the kitchen speakers.

Grabbing a plate I went and sat next to Eric who was trying to finish his math homework. He looked flustered. I giggled to myself.

“Do you need some help Eric?” As he looked up with a help me look in his eyes mom came in from a meeting room.

“Don’t you help him he’s had a week to ask for help and left it to the last minute.” She glared in my direction.

“Sorry bud maybe next time.” I said as I rubbed his head.

He collected his books and slunk away grumbling.

“You know his math isn’t that hard mom, I can help him.” I said while eating a grape.

“He won’t learn if his big sister helps him all the time Scar. You are smart and have always been good at math. Let him figure it out so he can be as smart as you.” Mom replied while tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

Being her only daughter she fawned over me my whole life I’m glad Lily will be able to help ease the pressure she puts on me now she’s family.

“Are you looking forward to seeing Lily and Kyle?” She probed.

“Yeah, I miss her. I always knew having a best friend a year older than me would suck once we were mated but I never expected her to mate with one of my brothers.” I replied poking at my food.

“Go take a shower and relax until this afternoon. Kyle just let dad know they are leaving now so they will be here in about 2 hours.” Mom stroked my cheek and kissed my forehead. Before I could get to the stairs she stopped me. “Oh by the way this came in the mail for you.” She handed me an envelope.

It had beautiful handwriting which read my name and the pack house address. Puzzled I looked at my mom.

“What is this? Do you know who sent it?” I asked.

“I’m not sure honey.” She said, “But I’m not sure why they put the address on it. It came with the documents dad has to sign for us to attend the royal crowning.” As mom finished my heart raced a bit and I felt myself starting to blush.

A million thoughts ran through my head as I took the stairs two at a time up to my room. As soon as my door slammed behind me turning the envelop I see the royal werewolf seal. I turned it in my hands unsure of what to do I put it on my bedside table and went into my bathroom. Having the hot water run over my body made me relax and cleared my head, hopping out and wrapping myself in my fluffy robe and headed back to my bed. Sitting twisting my robe belt in my hands I picked up the enveloped again and turned it rubbing my fingers over the beautiful seal again. Carefully I opened it. Inside was an invention handwritten formally inviting me to the crowning of Prince Shane Dawson.

I sat starring at the invitation until my brain became fuzzy why would he send me an invitation when dad had already gotten the invitation for our family a month ago? Had he felt the sparks too? I thought my body was just reacting to a males touch since my dad and brothers never let me date so I had never even held hands with a crush having it drilled into me that I needed to wait for my future mate, and it didn’t help Chris and Kyle scared every boy who ever showed interest. Even if I was somehow interesting to him why would he be interested in an Alphas daughter? I am nowhere near his station it’s not I’m a Princess like his fiancé and I’m not like Lily I will never be Luna of Crystal Lake Pack. Unlike Lily I have brothers who would surpass me. Needing to talk to someone about this I reached for my phone and dialed Lily. Of course she didn’t answer then I remembered mom saying they had left Opal Moon already so she wouldn’t pick up even if I called her 10 times.

I sighed and climbed back into bed and re-read the invitation again and again as if that was going to change the words somehow to tell me why I had gotten this from Shane. I huffed and gave up when I started to feel light headed and switched on my laptop pulling up Netflix again and I went back to the show I stopped for lunch.
