Se connecterCHAPTER FOUR
Alexander.
I glared at Liam, my best friend and underboss. “I don't see why I have to attend this meeting” I said, pouring myself a glass of whiskey losing my tie.
Liam shrugged. “You're the boss, Alex. You need to be there.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Can't you handle it for once?”
Liam chuckled. “You know I can, but this is a big deal. We need to land this client, and your presence will seal the deal.”
I sighed, knowing Liam was right. I downed my whiskey and headed out the door.
“Let’s go dummy” I called out to Liam who looks surprised.
“Just like that?” he asked in disbelief and I chuckled.
I don’t really like showing up for any of my legal business meetings, I usually leave everything in Liam’s hands.
I prefer dealing with the illegal and dark side of business, you the killing and all, it gives me a thrill.
The meeting was a blur of suits and handshakes, but I played the part of charming CEO to perfection.
After the meeting, Liam and I grabbed dinner at a nearby diner.
As we ate, Liam filled me in on the latest gossip from the business world. I listened, nodding along as people starred at us.
A phone rang and Liam paused what he was saying to pick up his call. After a minutes or two arguing on his phone while I acted uninterested already wanting to go home.
“It’s Jeremy Boss, he says the ship arrived safe but Viktor wants to see you” Luke said dropping the phone on the table and I shrugged.
“Why does he want to see me. The shipment already arrived safe, the final part of the deal is done, his part so…” I said cleaning my mouth with napkin done with this meal.
“He said Viktor had some sensitive things to discuss with you” Luke replied and I rolled my eyes.
“Discuss it with him, I need to get back to the house, one of those brats is at it again” I said standing up and throwing a bundle of cash on the table.
“You know he won’t, the bastard has had it for me since that Zinc’s mission and you know it” Liam whined and I smirked, that I know. Viktor has hated Luke’s guts since their last mission together, where Luke left him to go and fuck a whore.
“Alright, alright. Where?” I said walking out of the diner.
………………………………………………………………………………….
I stepped into the dimly lit club, the pulsating music and flashing lights enveloping me. My men bowing their heads to me, a sign of respect.
“Can't you handle this meeting, Liam? He won’t kill you” I said as we stepped into the elevator taking us to the VIP space.
Liam raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, thanks boss no and Viktor specifically asked for you, Alex. He's got some sensitive information to share.”
I sighed, knowing that Liam wouldn't have told me in if it wasn't important. “Fine. Let's get this over with.” I said as we entered the space.
The VIP space has a one-way glass; we could see the people downstairs but they couldn’t see us and this gives us absolute privacy as it is soundproof and an alarm goes off once any bug has been detected, courtesy of my youngest brother.
As we waited for Victor to arrive, I scanned the down space, my eyes landing on a girl. She was dancing with a group of friends, laughing and carefree.
My first thought was: she's gorgeous in an earthly way, her curves endless, her hips looks like they were made for me, thick which I particularly like.
Her tits, larger than the average, they looked like they will fill my large hands and still be plenty for. I wonder what color her nipples will be, maybe brown like her skin but darker or pink. Fuck, my cock is straining in my pants.
After some time, her friend left, leaving just her dancing. But what caught my attention was when she kicked a guy in the groin. He doubled over, clutching himself, and she stormed off.
Victor arrived, and we conducted our business. Afterward, I stepped outside for a smoke. That's when I saw her again, the girl with spark. This time, she was struggling with the same guy she'd kicked earlier.
My instincts kicked in, and I strode forward, my fists clenched at my sides. The guy was trying to drag her away, but she was fighting back with every ounce of strength she had but when he brought out a handkerchief and stuff it under her nose, it was probably laced with drugs.
I grabbed the guy's arm, twisting it behind his back. “Let her go,” I growled.
He tried to struggle, but I held him firm. The girl stumbled backward, gasping for breath.
I released the guy with a shove, sending him stumbling away. Then I turned to the girl, concern etched on my face.
But before I could even think about asking her if she was okay, her eyes rolled back, and she slumped forward, unconscious.
I caught her in my arms, holding her upright. I could smell the mixture of sweet scent and the chemical scent of the drugged towel the guy had used on her.
Anger surged through me, but I pushed it aside, focusing on getting her to safety. I scooped her up into my arms and started walking, scanning the area for my car.
As I walked, I couldn't help but notice how fragile she seemed, how vulnerable. And yet, just moments before, she'd been fighting back with every ounce of strength she had.
Who was this girl? And what had brought her into my world?
CHAPTER TWENTYJuliana.Three days. That's how long Alexander had been avoiding me—like the almost-kiss in the gym never happened. He barely looked at me during meals. He gave orders through Roman or Kai.And when I caught him staring, he always looked away—like he was punishing himself for wanting me.I was sick of it.I found him in his office one night, papers scattered across the desk, a glass of whiskey half-empty at his side."You can't avoid me forever."He didn't even look up."I'm busy."I crossed my arms, leaning against the doorframe."You're a coward."His pen stilled, fingers tightening around it."You think pushing me away will make me forget what's happening between us?" I pressed, stepping closer. His jaw clenched."There's nothing happening between us Jul.""Liar."His eyes flicked up—cold, sharp—like he was daring me to push him further.I took another step closer, my heart hammering in my chest."You want me."His breath caught—just for a second. But then his mask s
CHAPTER NINETEENJuliana. The morning sunlight spilled through the curtains, but it did nothing to ease the knot in my chest.I could still feel the weight of Alexander's gaze from the night before—the way his fingers had brushed against my skin, only to pull away at the last second.I hated him for it.I hated that I wanted him to never pull away again.I spent most of the morning avoiding Alexander, staying tucked away in my room.Like doing the reverse. When I finally came down for breakfast, the air felt thicker—like everyone could feel the tension simmering between us.Roman glanced between us, smirking."Rough night?"My face heated."Don't you ever go to your apartment?"Roman pouted before shoving a big bite of pancakes into his mouth.Alexander didn't even look up from his coffee.Kai leaned back, grinning."Guess the library's becoming your favorite place, huh?"I shot him a glare, but the flush on my cheeks betrayed me."And you too Kai? I don't pay for the apartment to be
CHAPTER EIGHTEENJuliana. The next morning, I woke up to sunlight streaming through the curtains. It had been days since the attack, but the bruises on my body were still there—a painful reminder of how close I had come to dying.I turned on my side, hoping the ache in my chest would fade. But it didn't.It never did.My mind went back to the conversation I and Alexander had.He was like Philip but he didn't want me to be like him...Whatever that meant.Alexander barely said a word to me all day.He was always close by, watching from the shadows, but he never pushed me to make a decision. It was like he was waiting—for me to break or for me to choose..............................................................................................Kai found me in the kitchen later that afternoon, making tea."You know he's only giving you space because he cares, right?"I rolled my eyes."Alexander doesn't look like a man who cares about anyone."Kai smirked."That's what he wants everyo
CHAPTER SEVENTEENJuliana. The sun was already high when I finally stepped out of my room. The soreness in my body had dulled overnight, but the ache in my chest remained—raw and suffocating.Everything felt too quiet.I found Kai and Roman in the living room, arguing over a game of cards like nothing had happened. But I knew the truth.Everything had changed.Alexander had given me a choice—one that weighed on me like a stone pressing against my ribs.Kill Philip.Or let him suffer in another way.The old me—the girl who had spent her entire life surviving—would have chosen revenge without hesitation. But now?I wasn't sure who I was anymore.I hadn't seen Alexander since last night.Part of me wondered if he was waiting for my decision—or if he was giving me space to process everything.Either way, I wasn't ready to face him.So I made sure to steer away from him.Running into my room once I saw him coming from his daily gym exercise.Pretending to be asleep when he wanted to leave
CHAPTER SIXTEENJuliana.I woke up feeling more off than usual. Not just from the soreness in my body but from the weight of everything that had happened. The attack.Alexander carrying me home. The way he looked at me in the library last night.I rolled over, expecting to be alone, but my gaze landed on a tray of food on the nightstand.Toast. Scrambled eggs. Coffee. And a note.Eat. – A.I sighed, running a hand through my hair.Of course, he wouldn't say anything more.A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts.Kai poked his head in, a smirk already forming."You're alive."I rolled my eyes."Barely.""Good, because Alexander wants to see you in his office."My stomach twisted."Why?"Kai shrugged."Philip is here."The world tilted.I gripped the sheets, my breath catching.Philip.The man who had raised me.The man who had lied to me my entire life."He has answers" Kai added, his smirk fading."And Alexander wants you there."A mix of fear and fury bubbled inside me."Fine,
CHAPTER FIFTEENJuliana.Pain.That was the first thing I noticed.A dull, aching soreness spread across my body, the sharp sting on my cheek reminding me of what had happened. The rooftop. The masked man. His hands around my throat.I inhaled sharply, my eyes snapping open.I wasn't on the rooftop anymore.I was in my room. The soft glow of a lamp filled the space, casting shadows across the walls. The bed beneath me was warm, the sheets smelling clean, fresh—like him.And then I saw him.Alexander.He was sitting in a chair near the bed, elbows resting on his knees, his gaze locked onto me.For a moment, neither of us spoke. His suit jacket was gone, his shirt sleeves rolled up, revealing bruised knuckles—a reminder of what he'd done to the man who hurt me and tattoos."You're awake," he finally said, voice rough from lack of sleep."You didn't sleep" I murmured. His jaw clenched. "You were unconscious."I swallowed. "I'm fine."His gaze darkened. "You're not."The silence stretched
