We left at dawn. The sky was just beginning to lighten and the world was quiet. I stood on the porch and looked back at the house one last time. The garden was in full bloom. The sunflowers were tall and bright. The tomatoes were ripening on the vine. It was hard to leave it behind.

He came up beside me and took my hand. "We can always come back."

"I know," I said. "But it feels like we are closing a chapter. Leaving this part of our lives behind."

He squeezed my hand. "We are starting a new ch

  • Broken bond, burning desire   The Weight of Memory

"I dreamed about him last night."He looked up from his coffee. His eyes were tired. He had not been sleeping well either. We had both been struggling since we came back to the house."Who? Viktor?"I nodded. "He was standing at the end of the bed. Just watching me. He did not say anything. He just stood there."He set down his coffee and walked over to me. His hands came up to my shoulders. "It is just a dream. He is gone. He cannot hurt you anymore.""I know. But the dreams feel so real. I wake up and I cannot breathe. I feel like he is still out there."He pulled me into his arms. "He is not out there. I made sure of that. He is gone. You are safe."I pressed my face into his chest. "I know I am safe. But my brain does not seem to know it. My brain keeps telling me that something bad is going to happen."He kissed the top of my head. "That is the trauma. The fear. It takes time to heal.""How much time? How long am I going to feel like this?"He was quiet for a moment. "I do not kn

  • Broken bond, burning desire   The Silence After

"I cannot stop shaking."He was holding me on the floor of our broken house. The door was splintered and the night air was cold. But I could not feel any of it. All I could feel was the shaking. The uncontrollable trembling that had taken over my body."I know," he said. "I know. Just breathe. Just stay with me."I looked at him. His face was pale. His hands were covered in blood. Viktor's blood. I tried to speak but the words would not come."We need to leave," he said. "We cannot stay here tonight. Not like this."I nodded. I could not speak. My teeth were chattering. He helped me to my feet and led me out of the house. I did not look back. I could not look at the body. Could not look at the destruction. We walked to a small cottage on the edge of the village. He had keys. He always had keys. He was always prepared.Inside it was warm and clean. He led me to a chair and sat me down. He knelt in front of me and took my hands."You are safe," he said. "You are safe. He is gone. It is

  • Broken bond, burning desire   The Trap

"He is coming tonight." The words hit me like a physical blow. I was standing in the kitchen, my hands wrapped around a cup of coffee that had gone cold hours ago. He walked in from the other room, his phone still in his hand. His face was pale. "How do you know?" "One of my contacts just called. Viktor is on the move. He will be here within hours." I set the cup down. My hands were shaking. "What do we do? Do we run?" He walked over to me and took my hands. "No. We do not run. We are ready. We have people in place. We can end this tonight." I looked into his eyes. "Are you sure? Are you absolutely sure?" "I am sure. I have been planning this for days. We have the advantage. He does not know we know." I took a deep breath. "Then tell me what to do. Tell me how to help." He pulled me into his arms. "You stay in the house. You lock the doors. You do not come out until I come for you." I pulled back. "No. No, I am not just going to hide while you are out there fighting." "Thi

  • Broken bond, burning desire   The Visitor

"I think someone is watching the house." The words came out in a whisper. He looked up from the book he was reading and his face went still. That familiar stillness that I had learned to recognize. The stillness that came before action. "What do you mean?" he asked. I was standing at the window. My hand was on the curtain. I had seen something. A flash of movement near the treeline. It was probably nothing. Just an animal. But my heart was pounding anyway. "There was someone out there. In the trees. I saw them move." He was beside me in an instant. His body tense. His eyes scanning the treeline. "Stay here," he said. "Do not move from this spot." He moved toward the door and I grabbed his arm. "Do not go out there. What if it is a trap? What if they want you to come out?" He turned and looked at me. "I have to know who is out there. I have to know if we are in danger." "Then let me come with you." "No. You stay here. If something happens to me, you lock the door and you do

  • Broken bond, burning desire   The Morning After

"I keep staring at my hand."He rolled over and looked at me. His hair was messy and his eyes were sleepy. But he was smiling. That slow, lazy smile that made my heart flip."Your hand?""My ring. I keep looking at it. I cannot believe it is real."He reached over and took my hand. His thumb traced the band. "It is real. You are my wife. I am your husband. We are married."I laughed. "I know. But it does not feel real. It feels like a dream."He pulled me closer. "Then let me prove it to you. Let me spend the rest of the day proving it to you."I kissed him. Soft and slow. "I love waking up next to you.""I love waking up next to you too. I love everything about this. About us."We lay there for a while. Just holding each other. The morning light streamed through the window. The sound of the waves filled the room."What do you want to do today?" I asked."Nothing. I want to do absolutely nothing. I want to stay in bed with my wife and forget the rest of the world exists."I smiled. "T

"I cannot stop shaking."I stared at my reflection in the small mirror. My hands were trembling so badly I could barely hold the flowers Elena had given me. White roses. Simple and perfect. Just like I had wanted.Elena came up behind me and placed her hands on my shoulders. "It is just nerves. Every bride is nervous."I shook my head. "It is not nerves. It is fear. I am terrified that something is going to go wrong. That someone is going to show up and ruin everything."She turned me to face her. "Listen to me. No one is going to ruin this day. Your fiancé has people watching every corner of this village. No one is getting through."I took a deep breath. "I know. I know he has people watching. But I cannot help it. Every time I let myself be happy, something bad happens.""That is not true. You have been happy before. You have had good days. This is just another good day. The best day."I looked at her. "What if I am not strong enough? What if I fall apart at the altar?"She laughed.

  • Broken bond, burning desire   Ghost from the past

The mate bond I thought I buried years ago was screaming back to life, and it wanted me dead.I staggered across the border into Stormridge territory with blood pouring down my side. The night I locked eyes with a dead man, my whole world caught fire.I crept through the moonlit forest with Jax and Finn right behind me. Our boots barely made a sound on the damp leaves. • Broken bond, burning desire   Flames of Tomorrow

Three years had passed since Ronan and I first spoke openly of starting our own family. The pack of Stormridge Shadow had grown into a true power across the mountain territories. • Broken bond, burning desire   Burning Bond

The bond that should have stayed dead was about to drag us both under in the worst way possible.A loud bang on the cell bars jerked me awake. My side still throbbed but the bleeding had slowed. A Shadowfang guard stood there scowling.“Alpha wants you upstairs. Now. Move.”I got up slow, chains ra
