I paused and stared back at Mother as I turned to exit the room, and I didn't speak, knowing Mother as well as Lucy were also hurting.

They couldn't harm me, so Mother and Lucy walked past me and exited Zuri's bedroom, leaving me all alone with Zuri. I heard Zuri slowly sobbing, breaking my heart to pieces.
