2. The news

"Listen to me, little warrior! You deserve nothing but my rejection!"

"I can't believe that you manipulated my parents against me and forced me to marry you. And if that wasn't enough you are so cheap and pathetic you slept with me to tie me down forever! How fucking disgusting!"

"Finally I am free from you!"

"I, Alpha Stephen, Alpha of Crystal Moon Mystery pack, reject you, a warrior, Delilah as my mate!"

"You’ll be banished from the pack. And remember one thing. That I hate you. I hate you, Delilah!"

It's been five years and Delilah still couldn't help but ask the moon goddess what was her fault. Why did she have to go through such humiliation when she didn't do anything? She was always giving love and well wishes and never asked for anything in return but at the end she was thrown out of the pack she grew in. All these thoughts are always in her head.

"Delilah? Delilah!" Someone gave her hand a small shake to bring her out of her thoughts.

"Huh? What happened…?" Delilah looked a little shocked and confused as she looked at the person who was trying to get her attention.

"You are zoning out once again." He said in a displeasing tone but seeing her sheepish smile, he smiled as well.

"Oh, Alpha. I'm so sorry, I didn't realise when I blanked out." She apologised.

“Just call me Kevin, Delilah, no one else here.” Kevin said and Delilah smiled.

Kevin is in his mid twenties who took up the responsibility as the Alpha of the Moonlight Howl pack at a very young age after his parents. He is very well respected by his pack members and a very good friend of Delilah.

"You seemed a bit lost earlier. Is everything okay?" Kevin asked the question again which she didn't reply earlier.

"It's just... memories from the past resurfaced. I’m fine." She said honestly. Kevin knows almost everything about her past. But she didn't mention who rejected her and her previous pack.

The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm orange glow across the clearing where they stood. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the surrounding trees, and the distant sound of howling wolves carried through the air, a reminder of the pack they both cared for deeply.

Delilah's eyes wandered to the horizon, her gaze distant as if searching for something beyond the visible world. Kevin studied her for a moment, concern etched into his features. He had seen the pain that still lingered in her eyes, even after all these years.

He reached out and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, a silent gesture of understanding. "You know you can talk to me about anything, right? I'm here for you, Delilah."

She offered him a small, appreciative smile. "I know, Kevin. And I appreciate that more than I can express."

Around five years ago, in the disastrous stormy night when she lost everything, Kevin was there to give her his hand to pull her out of misery.

Delilah lost her parents at a very early age. So, after her mate rejected and threw her out of his pack, accusing her of the unthinkable, she had no choice other than becoming a rogue. She was wandering around the dark and dangerous jungle alone, away from any pack territory with no spirit of living anymore when a few rogues attacked her.

Even though she was a very strong warrior herself, she didn't have any energy or spirit to fight against them to protect herself. The rejection and accusations took a toll on her and her wolf stopped responding to her as well. That night she thought she was going to die when suddenly out of nowhere a big wolf came with a strong aura around him.

It was Kevin. He saved her that day and took her into his pack. He accepted her as the omega of the pack. She became really weak after that night and unfortunately couldn't apply for the warrior position in the pack. She accepted the omega role without any complaint.

In these five years, Kevin never treated her like she was someone from a low rank. He always respected her as his friend even though his pack members weren't very fond of her.

Due to the special treatment Kevin gave her, the pack members disliked Dalilah. Some of them believe she was trying to seduce their kind Alpha, Kevin, to rank up as the Luna of the pack. They think of her as a "cheap" and "pathetic" woman but it was nothing new for her. She learned to live through this.

Indeed, Kevin is a charming and trustworthy Alpha. But after what happened five years ago, she had enough heartbreak to give herself another chance. Also, Kevin is just a very good friend to her, Dalilah doesn't see him in any other way. She wouldn't like it to change in the future as well.

"Kevin, what are you doing here? What if someone sees us here?" Delilah asked in a low tone. She looked around to see if any pack members were near to see the Alpha talking to her, a mere omega. It won't be peaceful for her later if she was caught.

Fortunately, it was nearly afternoon. Everyone had lunch. As an omega, Dalilah has the responsibility of washing all the dishes before having lunch. Besides kitchen work, she has many other responsibilities as well after this.

Kevin frowned hearing her.

"What will happen if they see us talking together? They should be used to it for the future." Kevin said with a cheeky smirk.

Delilah looked at him in confusion.

"What do you mean by that? Also I don't want people to gossip about you after seeing you talking to me." She explained while looking around again. Even though everyone is resting at this time, she didn't want to take a chance.

Kevin reaches out and gently places his hand on top of Delilah's, offering support and understanding.

"Why are you worrying about that? I won't let anyone think lowly of you. I'm here for you, Delilah. I hope you know that, right?" He asked in a genuine tone.

Delilah feels a sense of comfort and safety in Kevin's presence. The weight of her past begins to lift as she focuses on the present moment and the caring person in front of her.

"Thank you, Kevin. I appreciate you more than you know." She smiled before she remembered something. "You said you wanted to tell me something important. What is it?"

“Yes. Listen to me,”Kevin paused for a second before continuing, "Delilah, I've admired you for a long time, and I can't hold it back any longer. I want you to be my luna, and I want you to know how much you mean to me." He said in one breath, without beating around the bush.

"Kevin, I- I never knew that,” Delilah's eyes widened in surprise. “You're such a kind and caring friend. You saved me from rogues, from my dark past, you mean a lot to me as well."

Kevin looked at her with a hopeful look and it scared her thinking of his reaction to her next set words. But she has to say it.

“I truly appreciate your feelings, but I'm afraid I can't accept anyone into my life right now. The last heartbreak I went through was too painful, I can't let my heart go through something like that once again." She said in a low tone, feeling guilty for ending up in such a situation.

Delilah’s eyes fell on his face. He wasn't looking at her but from the look of his gritted teeth, hooded eyes and fisted hands, she knew he wasn't happy with her response.

Her heart raced, scared of upsetting her new alpha and getting banished from here as well. But the next moment he freed his hand and let out a breath, making her more nervous. He turned to look at her with a small smile, putting her heart into ease.

"I understand, Delilah, and I'm sorry if my timing was off. I didn't mean to pressure you. I just wanted you to know how I feel." Kevin nodded at her in a respectful way.

Delilah reached out and gently placed her hand on his shoulder. "Thank you for being understanding, Kevin. You are a perfect Alpha and you need a Luna who deserves you. I am not that person. I hope it won't affect our friendship."

A small smile formed on Kevin's face despite his disappointment.

“It won’t affect anything,” Kevin said, “I hope if you ever think of giving your heart a second chance, my name comes first in your mind. After all your son needs a father, a family, I can give you the best protection. ”

Delilah hesitated a bit when it came to her son. Kevin is right, she is just an omega, she can hardly protect her son if one day those pack members who dislike her really did something to her son. They already called him a bastard child, their kids will probably bully him at school in the future.

“Kevin I-” Dalilah’s words got interrupted, a man rushed in with a worried look on his face, Delilah recognised he is beta Ryan.

"Alpha, a few rogues attacked our nursery and took away Dalilah's son!"
