3. Saving her

TWO DAYS LATER

"Alpha Kevin, please you have to help me. It's been two days already since my son has been missing. I can't take it anymore."

Delilah's eyes welled up with tears as she stood before Kevin. Her heart is heavy with grief as all the bad thoughts keep on coming back to her, breaking her into pieces.

Her four years old son, Nathan, has been kidnapped from their nursery school two days ago and there is still no trace of him. The nursery teacher is heavily injured, unable to provide any information other than that a few rogues took the child.

Delilah has been going crazy since then. She has been looking for her son crazily along the pack's other members who are involved in the search operation. Even though she used to be a warrior once, she is useless now. But she wasn't giving up.

Kevin placed a gentle hand on Delilah's shoulder, trying to console her. "I understand your pain, Delilah," he said, his voice steady and reassuring. "We are doing everything we can to find Nathan. Please calm down. I know you are going through a hard time. It's a big conspiracy but we won't rest until he is safe." He admires Nathan very much so he is equally worried for the little boy.

"Wh…what do you mean by a conspiracy?" Delilah asked in a shaky tone as she looked up at him with a scowl. She wasn't aware of it. Guilt appeared on his face immediately after hearing her question and it was noticed by Delilah.

"They had asked for ransom, Delilah." Kevin replied in a low tone and looked away from her.

"Then what are you waiting for?! Give them the money they want and free my son!" Delilah shouted, reaching the end of her patience.

"I am sorry but we can't do that, Delilah." Kevin replied in a guilt-filled tone.

"What do you mean? Why?!" She exclaimed in confusion and disbelief.

"We can't let them get away by kidnapping our pup and taking our money. If we allow it once, they will dare to do it again." Kevin explained his point, wholeheartedly hoping that she would understand him.

"What are we going to do now then?! How are you going to save him? Do you know where he is kept?" She asked in desperation, her cry subsided a little.

"Yes, I do. Our team is already at that place, monitoring it from afar." He answered.

Desperation filled Delilah's voice as she implored him, "But I can't just sit here and wait! Please, Kevin, take me to where they've kept him. I need to see him, to know he's okay."

The tension in the air was palpable as the gravity of the situation settled over them. Kevin's jaw tightened, his expression a mixture of determination and concern. He reached out to gently hold Delilah's hands, his touch reassuring.

"I understand your pain, Delilah, but storming in recklessly won't help our cause. Our team is working on a careful plan, and we'll make sure he comes back safely." He said using his alpha tone but that didn't work on Delilah. It never did. She looked him in the eyes, her tone was adamant.

"I am going there, Kevin and you are going to take me." Her voice didn't tremble even for a blink of an eye. He let out a sigh, knowing he can't convince her anymore. But he still tried one last time.

Kevin nodded, understanding her anguish. "I know it's difficult, but it's dangerous for you to go there. Please understand and have faith," he said, contemplating the situation. "We've already sought help from the neighbouring pack. Their alpha is on the spot where the kidnappers are holding your son."

Tears continued to stream down Delilah's face, but she was determined to be with her child. "I don't care about the danger. I need to be with him, to protect him," she insisted.

Kevin sighed, moved by her motherly love and resolve. "Alright, I am leaving for that place now. You can come with me. But we'll need to be cautious," he said, his eyes locked with hers. "I promise, we'll do our best to bring him back safely."

With a glimmer of hope in her eyes, Delilah held onto Kevin's words. "Thank you, Kevin. I trust you," she said, her voice still trembling but with newfound strength.

Kevin gave her a long look before giving her a small smile which she didn't notice as she walked out of the house already.

_______

A FEW HOURS LATER

"Be in the car, Delilah. I will check." Kevin said in a serious tone as they parked at a safe distance from the spot. Just when he was going to get down from the car, Delilah clutched his hand and stopped her.

"Kevin, please, No.. I am coming with you.. I need to see if Nathan is fine.. Please.." She begged, her eyes watering once again. She looked so helpless that it saddened him as well.

Kevin knew it was a waste asking her to wait. So, he just nodded and they both started walking towards the abandoned house in the middle of the forest, making sure they hid if they saw someone.

Unaware of the fact that they were noticed by a bunch of people who were monitoring the place, they kept on moving forward while being very careful. Those people from the dark informed their leader about Kevin and Delilah immediately.

Kevin and Delilah could see some four to five rogue men with silver guns securing the entrance of this house. Delilah and Kevin were a little tense because one wrong move from their end could cost Nathan's life.

But they both did not stop moving towards the place. One of the rogues guarding the place saw them and started firing. Seeing them fire, those previous men who were hidden till now started firing and attacking too towards the rogues and that messed everything up.

Delilah was confused about what was happening and who were these people fighting on their behalf. She couldn't recognize them from her pack. Kevin cleared her confusion by saying that they must be from the neighbouring pack.

Delilah didn't pay heed to that much as the most important task for her was finding Nathan. They continued moving towards the house, almost saving themselves from the bullets and finally could enter inside.

They saw a man with his face covered with a cloth sitting next to Nathan who was unconscious. It was obvious that he saw Kevin and Delilah inside this house and he ordered the rogues in guard to attack Kevin and Delilah.

At the same time a lot of men entered the house and started attacking the rogues and killing them in a few moments. Delilah's eyes fell on Nathan. He was tied to a chair and was in his school dress. He wore that dress for the first time that day when he was kidnapped. Her eyes were all teary seeing her son in this condition.

She was seeing him after two days but it felt as if she was seeing him after two years. She can't live a moment without him. But before she could reach him, the rogue leader stood in front of her, halting her on her steps immediately.

"Such a weakling you are and still dared to come into my territory! I would like to see you try saving your bastard pup! I heard you can't even shift!" He said in a sick tone, making her angry.

"That's none of your business, you monster! Give me my baby back!" She shouted and went forward to take her baby but she was stopped mid-way.

"What are you doing?! Leave me!" She shouted in anger and tried to get away but his dirty hand on her right breast silenced her for a second. But she was quick to come in sense and acted on impulse. She punched him square on the nose, cracking it and making it bleed.

He slapped her back. He didn't give her a chance to do anything as he got a hold of her hair and slammed her hard on the nearby wall, making her head bleed. Her vision was blurry and her head was spinning.

"You bitch! You dared to punch me. Now you will see what will happen to your son!" Saying that he turned into a ragged wolf and started running toward Nathan at full speed. Her heart dropped to her stomach.

Delilah ignored all the pain and stood in the blink of an eye before running toward Nathan at full speed. She reached him at the right time and hugged him, covering him from any danger.

But that earned her a big bite on the side of her stomach. She let out a loud howl in pain but her grip on her baby didn't lose a bit. She hugged him tight as she fell on the floor, losing a lot of blood. She saw black dots appearing in front of her eyes but she didn't move a bit.

The next moment the rogue was thrown far away from her by a man who gave off a very powerful vibe. The man wasn't anyone from her pack but her eyes were way too blurry to see who saved her from the rogue.

She took Nathan in her arms and with a shaky and bloody hand started patting his cheeks. He wasn't opening his eyes. Her tears were wetting his face but she continued her tries to wake him up.

Finally Nathan opened his eyes and saw her. She was very happy seeing him conscious now. She started kissing his cheeks and forehead and thanking the moon goddess for keeping her son safe.

"Alpha Stephen, thank you for your help but we couldn't catch the rogue leader." Kevin said in a disappointing and displeasing tone, advancing the man but he didn't reply. Stephen didn't worry about the rogue leader because he knew he was going to get caught soon.

His eyes were on Delilah who was busy in her own daze. How was she still conscious after losing so much blood? Several emotions crossed his eyes which he masked immediately. He had a blank look on his face as he stopped his chain of thoughts.

"Mommy! You came here to save me." The little boy, Nathan, in her arms cried out loudly and hugged her neck. She hugged him and cried as well.

This scene might look heartwarming to a lot of people but it shocked Stephen beyond limit as he didn't realise when the next few set of angry words left his mouth,

"Why the hell is he calling you mommy, Delilah?!"

After almost five years, Delilah heard his voice and recognized it immediately. Her ex-mate. All the flashbacks which haunted her mind all these years were back in her heart and mind. Tears continued to roll over her cheeks and finally everything took a toll on her. She fell unconscious before Stephen and her son, Nathan.

Stephen was shocked once again seeing her lose her consciousness like that but before he could even move to help her, there he saw the alpha of the pack he was helping, running towards her. Kevin called her name and then picked her up in his arms and walked out.

Stephen's fingers automatically fisted to hit something seeing that. He didn't know why he had this urge suddenly. She meant nothing to him. She was HIS PAST.

There were many questions running in his mind.. But currently he needs to take care of these rogues before they flee from this place. He would think to rest all later..
