Mike’s entire world tilted. He was imagining things. Killian couldn’t be there. He had thought he wasn't that drunk, maybe he had been wrong and had ... No, no.
Mike thought. I am fine.
Killian was there. He knew it because his wolf knew it too.
His mate was standing there, across the street
Mike sobered up instantly once he realized it.
They were only a few meters apart, waiting for the other to make the first step. It was Killian who did it. Killian walked over to where Mike was standing and came to stand in front of him.
“Killian, what…”
Mike began, but Killian interrupted him.
“This can’t happen. Never again.”
Mike nodded, confused.
“Okay.”
“We shouldn’t be meeting, not like this. You are my bodyguard and that remains. But that's all. There can't be anythign else happening between us. I can’t come to your apartment or you to mine. “
Then Killian looked up at Mike.
“Never”.
His eyes were so dark, almost black in the night.
Some of the people in the bar were still smoking or drinking outside, laughing and telling drunken jokes. They were all out on the street, but all of that was just background noise, as if all those men and women there belonged somewhere else. Somewhere they couldn’t touch them and it was just him and Killian.
“Michael?”
Killian was watching him, expecting and Mike blinked against the rising threat of him losing control.
He knew what Killian was saying. And it wasn’t like they had promised anything to each other.
Then why was this feeling like a rejection.
Rejection
Mike’s mind provided.
His wolf stirred.
He is rejection you.
He is not rejecting me," Michael thought, " he is not rejecting me, because he doesn’t know about the whole mate wolf thing, or anything. hat rejection are you even talking about"
His hand closed in fists and in his mind, Mike was running in circles, but he shook his head to scatter the thoughts and said
“Okay, Killian. Never again.”
“Good.”
Then Killian grabbed the lapels of Mike’s jacket and pulled him closer, Killian’s lips brushing Mike’s.
“Let’s go.”
Killian said and let go of Mike’s jacket, turning his back on him and heading down the street, not turning around.
***
A crash, followed by nother. Something, most likely a glass falling on the floor and crashing. Another rattle.
Mike’s back hit the wall and the door slammed shut somewhere behind him.
They were fumbling with clothes, belts and jackets . Mike's jacket landed on the floor heavy and before he could put himself back together, Killian was all over him again.
Killian pushed Mike harder against the wall and tore his T-shirt front.
It was dark, but Mike could see very well the messy, disheveled hair, Killian’s dilated pupils, he could hear his mate's heartbeat, syncing as if with his own.
"Wait, wat..." Mike said, his hands closing around Killian's shoulders to stop him.
"Wait. "
"What is it?"
Killian was frowning at him in the darkness. "No one has follwed us, right. "
"No."
"Then why did you stop?"
Mike lifted a hand and his fingertips brushed Killian’s lips very lightly.
They were both breathing heavily, and Killian paused only for a second before he grabbed Mike again.
Killian kissed him hard, fingers digging in Michael’s shoulders almost painfully . Killian was kissing him, but at the same time it felt like he was fighting - with what, Mike couldn't tell.
Mike broke the kiss and searched Killian’s eyes in the darkness.
The only light that was coming inside the room was from the street lamps, and the bars that were on the first floors of the buildings here. But even in this run down place, the fading yellowish light was dancing on Killian's face and he looked stunning, even here.
“Hey. “
Mike whispered, running a hand over Killian’s face slightly.
“We’re not fighting. “
Killian froze, confused.
Then Mike leaned in and kissed him very, very slowly. Killian relaxed in the kiss too, and Mike smiled against his lips.
“See?”
“What?”
“Isn’t it better this way?”
Killian flinched and it was as if something flipped inside him again.
He began kissing him harder again, hands going for the button of Mike's jeans. Killian opened them and fell down to his knees.
This time Mike glued himself to the wall by himself and watched Killian perplexed as his mate began opening his zipper.
"Wait, wait. "
Mike placed his palms over Killian's beautiful hands and squeezed him lightly to stop him from continuing.
"Don't you want to go somewhere more...." Mike's mind was buzzing, of all the things he had imagined and wanted with Killian, getting a blowjob in the hallaway was the last thing he wanted. Mike had never been a romantic, or anything, but this was Killian. He wasn't just going to do it here, it hd to be.. different.
"Comfortable?" Mike said eventually, "do you want to go to the bedroom, or..."
"You don't like this?" Killian looked up at him, "Do you want to hit me?"
"Hit?...Why woud I ..."
"Isn't this how it works with guys?"
Killian was still watching him, hands stilled underneath Mike's.
"You don't want to show me you're stronger?"
Mike stopped. Dead in his tracks.
Killian was asking him for real. It wasn't some role play. Killian was actually expecting Mike to say yes.
Mike's heart clenched, sinking.
Then he had to close his eyes and take a very slow breath to stop himself from actually going and killing whoever showed Killian that he had to be hurt if he was going to be with someone.
Michael remembered the bruises he had seen on Killian's skin before. He had always thought Killian had liked it.
But now seeing Killian, being here and looking so vulnerable, he realized Killian had just never known anything else.
"Tell me I am a filthy..."
"No."
Mike said instantly, lowering himself so that he knelt next to Killian.
"Don't ever say that. " Mike leaned forward and kissed Killian's forehead, then his cheek.
"But this is what I am, I am..."
"You're so beautiful, "
Mike breathed against Killian's neck and felt his mate shiver.
"You're the most beautiful person I've met, Killian,"
he continued, kissing Killian's neck.
Mike had been with many guys before, but he had rarely spoken to them much. Rarely had he been with someone more than once or twice, but he had never wanted to hurt any of them, even of some of them had been into those things.
He would do it, if they really asked for it, but nothing beyond a play. Ever. The thought of hurting Killian - that was a different matter.
It was then and there Mike swore he was going to make Richard pay- before or after finishing this mission. Even if that meant killing him.
Mike kissed Killian one last time and stood up.
"Will you come with me?"
He said and smile.
"Where?"
Killian asked, but followed.
"You'll see." Mike smiled and kissed him before they headed to the improvised bedroom in Mike's apartment.

He led Killian to the bedroom. The lights in the room were off and the window was facing a dark corner of the street, so everything was enveloped in darkness besides the light the few ads from the outside were reflecting. They were standing opposite each other. Killian was silent as Mike lifted his hand and buried it deep in Killian’ s hair. Then Mike leaned in and kissed him very slowly. His lips moved lower reaching the neckline of Killian’s shirt. “Can I?” Mike asked, whispering against his mate’s skin and Killian looked surprised, but then he nodded. Mike took Killian’s shirt off slowly , then threw the cloth away and ran his hand very slowly over Killian’s shoulders, over his collarbone, then lower to his stomach. He had thought of this for so long he had forgotten when it had all started. Most likely the moment he met Killian. He’d wanted him since then. He felt Killian shiver as he kept running his fingers lower until they reached Killian’s waistline. Mike kissed his ne
“I told you to scram. “ “But I can be of help. “ “You?” I snort as I pick up my pace, “What would a dirty stray cat be of help to me. “ “I can… I can do anything. “ I glanced at him and he smiled. The boy was so pretty and it was something I had noticed even from the first time I met him- that time when he had stollen someone's wallet. "Why do I keep seeing you?" "Because you know I will be of use to you and you'll eventually pick me up. " "No chance. " I keep walking, not talking to him, but he still doesn't leave. “How old are you. “ “Eighteen “ “Yeah, right. “ “I have no reason to lie to you. “ “Boy, you have all the reasons to lie to me. Besides, don’t you see I’m cop?” This time he snortned. It kind of pissed me off. “What’s so funny about this?” “You walking around telling everyone you’re a cop, while you’re working for the gang. “ I glanced around quickly and th next thing I did was grab by the arm and lead him to the nearest corner. We took the firs
After the shower Mike shaved and got dressed. He changed his shirt twice and finally went with a plain black one. He had a coffee. Then another. The weather was bad and it was going to rain. Mike was trying not to check his phone. And he didn't. Eventually one of the guys called and said he’d pick him up because he was passing by. During the ride the guy must have spoken to Mike and most likely Mike had replied. Maybe they had listened to some music, maybe they hadn't. He had no idea. Because all of that was just background noice. He arrived at the manor and Jesse greeted him at the entrance. He was as livery as ever. They were informed they would be guarding an event tonight at one of the manors. The guys finished what they had for the morning and before he knw it, it was late afternoon. They went for lunch. Jesse sat next to him at the table, talking about everything and nothing. He was halfway telling Mike a story when he realized Jesse was asking him a question. “Uh, yeah.
The gala had started. Michael was occasionally glancing at Killian who was talking to the same old, rich people who always attended those gatherings. Some of the guests were new faces, others were actually really young but still that rich. “How’s it going?” Jesse came to stand next to him, as they were staying to the sides, being invisible to the guests. “Not much. You?” Then Jesse gave him an up and down look. “What?” Mike asked. “You smile too much. “ then his partner’s eyes fell on the perfectly made tie Make was wearing. And he gasped. “You fucking idiot.” He grabbed Michael by the forearm and clenched his hand around him. “What are you doing?” Mike asked and Jesse hissed at him. “Because of my tie?” “Not because of the stupid tie. You smell like him. Are you crazy? Why were you close to the boss?” “I am his bodyguard. “ Jesse groaned. “And now you lie to me?” “I am not.” “Of course you are.” Jesse was pissed. Rightfully so. “Nothing happened. “
Flynn He was pacing around the spacious library. Waiting. Because Richard always made him wait. As if I am some punk he’s hired to clean after his deals. He scoffed but had no choice except to wait. Flynn went over to the window and took a look around the huge backyard. Two dogs the size of wolves were running around, playing. The manor was one of the most beautiful Flynn had ever seen. Something he thought he would never have, but fate was proving him wrong. Flynn had joined the Secret Service at a young age, just like anyone in this job. The reason was simple- climbing the ranks was extremely difficult. One needed time unless they fucked their superiors. Perhaps that was one of the reasons he hated Killian so much. Another was that the guy was always looking at him in such a suspicious way, Flynn could swear Killian knew Flynn was a double agent. “That fucker, “ Flynn thought bitterly, “He’s never done anything important besides being a fuck toy to Richard. Yet, he’s the o
Michael “I can drive you home. “ Mike said once the gathering in the manor was over and everyone began to leave. Killian glanced over to the others. No one had paid any attention to the offer, and after all, Mike was Killian’s bodyguard, there was nothing strange in this. “I will be out in ten minutes, “ Killian said, casually and Mike nodded. “I will be waiting for you in the car. “ The others from the gang still didn’t notice anything and Mike went out. Jesse was out of sight and that was a good thing- otherwise, he would have told him not to do it and all those things Jesse was saying. Mike got in the sports car parked in front of the main gate of the mansion. Killian went out of the building exactly ten minutes after he’d told him he would be there. His boss said goodbye to the others and as he was standing under the brightly lit front gate of the manor Mike noticed again how handsome Killian was. He was smiling, and he was always the most beautiful man he’d ever
MichaelIt was too late to stop it.Mike’s eyes changed entirely and he pulled back from Killian instantly. He turned away but there was no doubt Killian had seen the change.“I’m sorry. “Mike said and tried to get up when he felt Killian’s palm on his back.“Where are you going?”“I don’t want you to see me like this. ““Like how?”“Like…”Like this. That’s the way I am. Killian shifted closer to him and rested his forehead against Michael’s back. Then he wrapped his arms around Mike’s waist.“Don’t go. “Killian said against his skin and Mike didn’t dare move. He was just staring at the darkness of the room ahead of him. There were so many things running inside his head, but he only said the one
Michael He was staring at the endless blue above him. Then his eyes slid down and met with the other endless blue. Although it wasn’t exactly blue, since at this time of the year both the sea and the sky had that grey tint they always had in winter. But today, the weather was nicer and the sun was peeking through the occasional clouds. It didn’t bring warmth but it made the place look prettier. Michael had never been to this part of the country, but it was nice. Calm. Away from everything. He took a breath of the salty air and said. “Let’s run away. “ Killian laughed. “Okay. Where are we going?” “There are many places I haven’t been to. Let’s go somewhere we both never went to. “ Killian thought. “You know, I haven’t really spent much time in the US.” “No?” “No, not really. I’ve wanted to, though. “ “Why?” “I don’t know. “ he said lightly, “Many of the books I was reading before were about those guys who..you know, left everything and went travelling all over the US,
