Chapter 2. Eric.

POV. Isabella Di'Giotanno

A month later…

I woke up with a gasp, bathed in sweat. This nightmare was more real than the others. I dreamed that fire destroyed everything. Rogues attacked us from all sides, and the pack fought fiercely while I watched the pack house burn to ashes. I could see how our alpha died, along with our Luna. Anouk, Eric's wolf, ran, killing everything in front of him. Goddess! Stop sending me those nightmares! It's not the first time I've dreamed things like this, but in the last year, they have intensified. They haven't come true, so at least I'm calm. It is likely that it is the effect of my very active imagination.

I got up, went downstairs, and headed to the kitchen for a glass of water. When I turned on the light, I almost screamed when I saw Eric sitting in the dark.

"What the fuck Eric! What are you doing there in the dark? You look like a vampire with glowing eyes. You almost scared me to death!" I tell him panting.

"Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!” Raises his hands in surrender.

"What are you doing here, anyway? Something happened to you. Why aren't you sleeping?"

He looks at me strangely and then replies sarcastically. “As if you actually care! Stop pretending, Isabella. There’s no need to pretend to care about me.”

I frown, annoyed, as I answer, "Don't be unfair, Eric. You didn't want to be my friend anymore since you were dating Julie... Don't you remember the conversation and how hard you were with me?"

He gets angry while answering me desperately, "I know, I know, I screw up, okay?"

Seeing him like that, my anger disappears. I sigh and ask him, "Will you tell me what's wrong?" I offer him a glass of water. Which he receives.

He looks down while answering, "Julie cheated on me with Mathias."

Mathias is Juliette's "cousin." We honestly don't know who his family is since he came to the pack a few years ago. Julie's parents said he was a relative, so to avoid awkward questions, they all say they are cousins, ten years older than us.

"What?" I open my eyes wide. I put my hands in my mouth, totally surprised.

He sighs as he covers his eyes with his hand. Then he answers, "Yes, there it is. You were always right about her, and I was too infatuated to see it clearly."

I raise an eyebrow at him while I respond sarcastically, "You mean you were very horny with her?"

He opens his eyes wide, smiles embarrassed as he responds quickly, "Okay, okay, yeah. I already assumed you were right, as always. Anyway, it's over. I told her I didn't want her to cross my path. That she doesn't exist to me. And at school she better not show up if she doesn't want me to talk to her parents. Imagine how disgusting was to see her making out with her cousin."

I take a moment to process what Eric is telling me. Then I ask, "Damn! How did she take it?"

Sarcastically, he replies, "How do you think?"

"Hum... A couple of ideas come to my mind."

Eric shows his annoyance by rolling his eyes while saying, “she cried a lot. Then, she continued to repeat to me it was a mistake, that she loved me. She said she chose me as her mate and didn't care if her destined mate showed up because she believed the Moon Goddess brought us together. Everyone knew we were the perfect couple, and so on.”

"Oops! And how do you love drama..."

He answers me mockingly, "Ha ha... hilarious. Well, it's over."

I make a face as I answer him, "I'm sorry, Eric."

"Yeah, right!"

"Hum... No, not in the least. I honestly never could stand seeing you with her, but I respected your wishes, as I always do." I tell him while smiling at what I just said. Then I add: "But on the other hand Eric, I got my friend back... I've missed you..." And he says with a smile, "And I missed you too, Isa!"

We were in the kitchen talking for hours. Dawn was already visible when Luna Ayme entered and looked at us, saying, "And what are you doing here at this hour? It's six in the morning!"

"Oh, we spent time talking Luna," I said.

"How are you, mom?" Ask Eric, placing a hand on his cheek.

"From what I see, better than you!" Replies Luna Ayme.

We both laugh at the same time.

"Have you reconciled yet?" Ask Luna Ayme. Eric replies, "Yes mom, we have reconciled."

"That means... Did you stop being an idiot? You will be a wonderful son of mine, but sometimes, you are just as stubborn as your father!"

"Ouch Ma!"

I smile maliciously, as I say, "Let's say Luna that our Goddess already gave him what he deserved. I don't think he'll ever leave his friends for a girlfriend again."

"What did Julie do to you? Should I pay her a visit?."

"What? No, mom, by the goddess! Thanks for that, Isa!"

I burst out laughing as I answered him, "you're very welcome, my good friend! Well, this was fun but if you'll excuse me, I'll go to take a shower. With your permission Luna."

"Go sweety. I'll prepare breakfast before the troops get up.”

"Mom, stop doing that... We have enough omegas in the pack house!"

Her voice sounds sweet and warm, as she responds, "I know, honey, but I enjoy doing it."

That's what I can hear as I leave the kitchen. I'm walking up the stairs, when suddenly an unknown female voice inside my head says. "Wow, who is that hottie? He's smoking-hot!! I would ride him from morning to dusk! What a man!"

I frown as I wonder. “I'm sorry? What's happening today with my internal monologue!!” Then I look at the time and speak. “I must hurry, or I'll be late for school."
