Darla’s POV

“Ahh… Jace…”

I said his name breathless and broken, almost like a prayer, except there was nothing holy about what he was doing to me.

He thrust into me again, slowly and deeply, as if he were savoring every second of how my body wrapped around his. His fingers dug into my thighs. The blankets were all messed up under us. His breath was warm on my neck, and his lips were tickling the curve of my shoulder.

“You sound so good when you say my name like that,” he whispered, voice thick with hunger. “Say it again.”

“Jace…”

“That’s it.”

He moved harder this time, his pace relentless, controlled… almost cocky. My fingers dug into his back as I arched my body to meet his rhythm, and he rewarded me with a low groan in my ear that made my skin flare with fire.

“Fuck, Darla… you feel like heaven,” he muttered, pressing his forehead to mine as he moved inside me. “How’d I get this lucky?”

I bit my lip, trying not to melt completely under him, but it was impossible. His body pressed pe

Darla's POV There was a pause. “We could. But we shouldn’t, not yet.”“Why not?”“Because this is going to court already,” he said. “And this, this is gold. If we bring it out now, they’ll try to discredit it before it makes it to the judge. They’ll scramble, cover their tracks, maybe even claim it was fabricated. But if we hold it, save it until court day, it’ll hit them blind. Right when they think they’re ahead.”I nodded slowly, even though he couldn’t see me. “You’re saying we wait?”“I’m saying we let them underestimate us a little longer,” Mr. Adair said. “Then we drop the hammer.”A small, cold smile crept across my face.“Alright,” I said. “I’ll wait.”“I’ve already started preparing how we’ll frame it for the judge. By the time we’re done, Richard won’t just lose the estate, he’ll be lucky if he walks away without handcuffs.”I leaned back against the leather seat and looked out the window now, the sun casting long, golden shadows across the city streets.“Thank you,

Darla's POV“If anything feels off in this apartment, you tell me. Immediately. Even if it’s nothing.”“Yes, ma’am,” she said without pause.I took a bite of the toast. Perfectly crisp.“You’re good,” I said.“I try my best.”Then I waved her off. “You can go.”She nodded once and left the room, steps soft on the floor like she’d been trained to disappear.I ate in silence, thinking. The food tasted good, but I didn’t let myself enjoy it. There wasn’t space in my mind for comfort. Every morning now felt like walking into enemy territory. And just as I reached for my glass of juice, my phone rang.I saw the name.It was Richard.I didn’t move right away. I just stared at it. A part of me wanted to ignore it. Let it ring until it gave up.But I didn’t. I picked up. At least I wanted to hear what the anaconda had to say.“Darla," he called. His voice hadn’t changed. Still smooth. Still lazy. Still full of false calm.I didn’t answer right away.“I heard you won't pull out of the court ca

  • DARLA FIN:THE HEIRESS'S WICKED REBIRTH   A New Day

Darla's POVSleep didn’t come easily, but it eventually came anyway. At some point during the early hours, the weight on my chest eased just enough for my body to give in. The room was dim, the hum of the heater soft, and the city’s noise had faded into a distant lullaby. I didn’t dream. I didn’t want to.I don’t remember falling asleep. But I remembered waking up.My phone buzzed against the nightstand, pulling me out of sleep with a low vibration that felt far too loud for how early it was.I reached for it blindly and squinted at the caller ID.It was Mavin. My director.I cleared my throat, pushed myself up a little, and answered.“Hello?” Wondering why he was calling me this early hours of the morning. Although my mind already knew the reason.“Morning, superstar,” Mavin’s voice came through, always a bit too cheerful for this time of day. “Did you get my package?”I blinked. “What package, you mean the new driver, the car and the maids?"He chuckled. “That’s the one.”I sat up

Darla's POVIt was almost midnight when my intercom buzzed.I wasn’t expecting anyone.I checked the screen. It was Xavier Lorette.I pressed the button. “I don’t remember inviting you.”His voice came through, smooth as always.“You didn’t. But you’ll want to hear this.”I buzzed him in.A few minutes later, he was at my door, holding an envelope. “Seriously?” I said. “More mysterious packages?”He stepped inside without asking. “This one’s not from me.”I took it and looked at the seal. My father’s company logo, faded but still clear. “What is it?” I asked.“Original ledgers,” Xavier said. “From the first Morrison account you were told burned in the warehouse fire.”I froze. “Where did you get this?”“Let’s just say, not everyone in your enemies camp is loyal anymore.”I moved to the counter and opened the envelope. Inside were scans of documents. Wire transfers. Signatures. A list of names. Then I saw Richard’s name on a transfer that moved funds from the Morrison charity accoun

  • DARLA FIN:THE HEIRESS'S WICKED REBIRTH   Fire

Darla's POVThe second threat didn’t scare me.It just confirmed what I already knew, they were getting desperate.I stared at the message one last time before forwarding it to Mr. Adair without a word.A few seconds later, he replied, "This one came from a burner. Same region as the last. We’re tightening things.”I didn’t ask for details. I just locked my phone and stood up.I went straight to bed like like a queen bee, without any form of fear. I wasn't afraid because I was ahead. Sleep didn't waste any time, it took just 10minutes after I laid my head on the bed.The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed. I headed straight to the bathroom, and while the water ran though my body, my head was running with plans for the day.Today wasn’t about playing defense. It was time to move. I have learnt one simple thing when it comes to power and game of thrones. You don't sit back and watch, you attack, make them more desperate, and then they would make a mistake that's going to cost th

  • DARLA FIN:THE HEIRESS'S WICKED REBIRTH   Threats don’t shake me

Darla’s POVThe morning after the threat didn’t feel like a morning at all.It felt like a test.I woke up before the sun with my body tense and my mind sharp. My apartment was silent, the only sound that was heard was the low hum of the fridge and the occasional creak of the door. I didn’t dream, I didn’t dare to.I walked to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water, standing barefoot in front of the kitchen window and looking down at the city like I owned it, and like I might need to defend it.The threat from last night still burned in my mind.“You won’t make it to court alive.”They were trying to scare me, but I didn’t flinch, and I wasn’t flinching now. Instead, I sent it to Mr. Adair to find out where the message had come from. I was going to make sure the person paid for it.My phone buzzed and I checked. It was feedback from Mr. Adair.“I’ve looped in a security expert and submitted the threat for federal investigation. We’ll trace it. You’re not alone in this.”My fin
