Chapter Three

Aphrodite

"There they are!" Phoebe exclaimed as we walked towards Bianca and Khloe, who were sitting on the bar stools, sipping their drinks and flirting with some guys.

"Hey, Phoebe. You looked great and sexy," Khloe whispered the last part with a smirk. The redhead was dressed in a black net gown that reached up to her hips and completely exposed her cleavage.

“Why, thank you!” Phoebe responded in a fake British accent.

"Aphrodite, you look stunning!" Bianca exclaimed. Her wide-eyed expression made me feel exposed, like she could see right through me. I tried to ignore the curious stares of the men and the jealous look in Khloe's eyes.

"Goodness, I guess the Virgin Mary decided to come out to play," Khloe said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. I couldn't help but feel a little put off by her comment. I knew she was used to being the center of attention, and that she probably resented me for taking some of the spotlight.

I tried to ignore Khloe's comment, turning my attention back to Bianca. "Thanks B," I said, giving her a small smile. As I did, I caught sight of Phoebe and Khloe arguing.

Deciding to put the tension behind me, I approached the bar. "Hello, beautiful," the bartender said, leaning towards me. "What can I get you?"

I had barely opened my mouth to respond when another voice cut in. "I'll take a whiskey, neat."

I turned to see a man standing next to me, flashing me a smile. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the unwanted attention. I just wanted a drink and to enjoy a night out.

I tried to brush off the annoyance and turned to the bartender. "Hi," I said with a small smile. "I'll have a..."

But before I could finish my sentence, another voice cut in. "She'll have a margarita," the voice said, and I turned to see a man behind me, looking smug. My smile faltered. This was the last thing I wanted right now.

"No thanks," I said firmly. I turned to the bartender, hoping to put an end to the interruption. "Do you have any recommendations?" I asked.

The bartender nodded, his small smile turning into a grin. "I'd recommend the mojito," he said, gesturing to the cocktail menu. "It's fresh and fruity, perfect for a warm summer night like this."

I considered his suggestion, grateful for the return to normalcy. "I'll have two of those," I said, and the bartender set to work making my drink.

Luke, the bartender, handed me my drink, and I paid for it before turning to leave. I tried my best to ignore the men who were still catcalling and wolf-whistling at me. I walked over to Phoebe, handing her one of the drinks. "Thanks, girl!" she exclaimed, winking at me. She turned her attention back to the handsome man she'd been talking to, who was now leaning in close to her, clearly enamored.

I settled onto the stool nearest to me, sipping the drink slowly. The lime and rum flavors mixed together, creating a sharp, refreshing taste. The music was pumping through my veins, and my body began to sway to the beat. All around me, people were dancing, kissing, and grinding against each other. It was a dizzying scene, filled with energy and passion. I felt a strange sense of exhilaration, watching the room spin with life.

As I watched the partygoers around me, I began to feel restless. The music was pumping through my veins, and my body ached to move. I set my half-finished drink on the bar, and headed to the dance floor. Bianca was already there, moving to the music with abandon. I joined her, and we danced together, laughing and smiling at each other. It felt freeing to let loose and just enjoy the moment.

Suddenly, the music shifted from a fast-paced beat to a slow, sensual melody. I couldn't help but move to the slow groove, twisting and turning my body to the rhythm. Bianca was shouting encouragement, egging me on, and I felt a surge of confidence. It was as if I were the only person on the dance floor, and the music was made just for me. I was lost in the moment, until I looked up and caught the gaze of someone in the VVIP section. It was as if time had stopped, and the only two people in the room were me and that person.

I had the strange sense that he was staring right at me. A shiver ran down my spine, and I could feel my body tense up. There was something dangerous about this man, though I couldn't put my finger on what it was.

"What's up?" Bianca asked elbowing me at the side, breaking my train of thought.

I turned to her, giving a small smile. "Nothing much. Just having fun."

"Are you sure?" she asked. "You were dancing like a goddess! If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought you were the goddess Aphrodite herself!" She said it with such wide-eyed wonder, like a child gazing upon a star.

 "What if I was?"

Chapter Fifteen Thorne I watched as Aphrodite’s face scrunched upward at the sound of her fist hitting the employee’s face. She looked different from now, she looked lethal and filled with blood thirst, and I loved every part of it.She had two sides of her, and that made me intrigued. What was her story? I switched off the tv, and they turned to face me.“Anyone who violates the rule of engaging in a physical fight will be fired,” I said, rolling the seat slowly as I watched like a predator. Mr.Sam gazed at them with a disappointment.“Mr.Rocco, please it won’t happen again. Please I would do anything, don’t fire me,” the other employee said, pleading, trying to stop her bleeding nose.“I’m sorry sir, this won’t happen again. I really need this job,” Aphrodite said, her voice pleading, but not sorry. Interesting. “Mr.Sam, add to their workload and make them write a letter of apology,” I said boringly.“Thank you, sir. Thank you sir,” they both said, a look of gratitude both o

Chapter Fourteen Aphrodite I turned around to see who she was staring at, my eyes connecting with the angry eyes of the manager, Mr Sam. I averted my gaze, the anger still boiling within me. I wanted to destroy everything. Why was I feeling this way? What is happening to me? I don’t even know who my parents are, or who I was, so why did her words trigger me? I inhaled deeply, trying to calm myself down.“I said what is going on here?” Mr.Sam asked again, this time his eyes trained on me.“I don’t know. Ask her,” I answered rudely remembering the words she had said which got me angered. He stared at me baffled, everyone gasping at my words, but I didn’t care.“Mr.Sam, she punched me first!” Khloe screamed out, her hands holding her bleeding nose. I scoffed at her words.“You two, follow me to the boss office to explain yourself,” he gritted out, as he tried to contain his anger. I glared at Khloe, and Phoebe, as we followed him.My fist ached as the adrenaline started to wear off. I

Chapter ThirteenAphrodite Phoebe left the office after chatting with me, and I got busy with my work, trying to sort out all of the documents fast so I could go home and rest as I kept yawning, and my eyes closing. I sat in the floor, different papers and document surrounding me as I picked the one that were important and placed them in one side and threw the others away in the trash can I had drew towards me for easy access. A soft firm knock resonated in the room. I looked up from what I was doing, wondering who it was. “Come in,” I called out. The door opened, and Knox came in. “Hi,” I greeted, standing up from my sitting position. “Hi. You look busy,” he stated. “Yeah. I’m trying to round up so I could leave early,” I answered, giving him a small smile. “Oh! It’s lunch break now.” Knox said, as if to remind me of something. My brain clicked at his words.“Oh yes. I’ve forgotten, got carried away. Let me get my bag,” I said, walking towards my desk, and carried the bag. “L

Chapter Twelve Aphrodite We stared at each other as I waited for him to answer my question. “No. I only met you at the company. You must be imagining things,” he chuckled, masking his expression instantly making me wonder if I was truly imagining things. I giggled in embarrassment, my cheeks tainting in a little red. “You are right.” I said. “Huh….I’ve got to go,” I add, the atmosphere a little awkward.“Alright. Do you care for lunch with me?” He asked. I stared at him a little surprised at his request. “Just a friendly lunch,” he clarified. I scolded myself inwardly for thinking he likes me. “Oh! I would love too,” I answered. He smiled at me innocently, and I stared at his face transfixed. He was handsome, and manly, but not as Thorne. I frowned at my thought. Why was I thinking of Thorne?“Are you okay?” Knox snapped me out of my thoughts, looking worriedly at me.“Yeah. Just thought of something. I’ve got to go now,” I gave a small wave, and turned sharply to leave. The abru

Chapter Eleven Aphrodite“Stop,” his deep husky voice commanded, and my movements halted. I heard the soft click of his shoes. He stopped at my back and could feel the heat and fragrance his body emitted before he turned me around to face him, his hands holding both my arms. My heart raced so fast, and I was sure he could hear the loud thump of it. “What…are you doing?” I asked, struggling to get away from him. His presence was too domineering. “Aphrodite. A perfect name for a seductress like you,” he muttered. My eyes widened at his words, and I knew he remembered me. “Please, last night was a mistake.” I muttered, standing still as I noticed struggling with him was futile. “Mistake, you say? I don’t think so. Good to know you still bare my mark,” he answered, and my mind furrowed at his words. My eyes followed his to see it trailed on my exposed breasts, and collarbone. Hickeys was layered on them, contradicting with my pale milky skin. I wondered if anyone had seen it apart fr

Chapter Ten Aphrodite Shit! I was twenty-one minutes late. I straightened up the hand of my hand bag as I placed my phone in it, and legs aching as I walked because of the vigorous activity of last night. “Beast!” I muttered as I wished for the elevator to move a bit faster. The movement of the elevator stopped, and the door opened, giving me a view of the conference room door standing steps apart from me. Inhaling a deep breath, I moved away, stopping the door from closing automatically. My heels clicked on the tiled floor, and I stopped, wondering if I should pull it off before continuing, laughing at my bizarre thought. I got to the door, rested my ear on it, but couldn’t hear a word. Moving away, I made a sign of cross before pushing the door open. It refused to open as I struggle between with it. It was heavy, and my small hand and weight did little Justice to it. Adjusting my bag well, I pushed forward with my hands. The door opened abruptly making me fall forward. Everyone
