Silence Between Us

Fernando's POV

The food was hot and gave off the scent of something expensive and well-prepared.

I should’ve been eating. My body was screaming for food after the long, exhausting times i have had—but my thoughts were wrapped around my ribcage, tight and suffocating.

Michael was sitting right across from me, a fork in his hand, his head tilted slightly to the side as he chewed on his food in deliberate silence.

Like I wasn’t even there. Like I hadn’t just tried—desperately—to get his attention in the garden.

And it was driving me absolutely insane.

He had ignored me in the garden.

I saw the way his gaze had flicked past me like I was invisible, like the wind brushing his shoulder meant more than my presence.

Then we came here, to the dining hall, and he still hadn’t said a word. Still hadn’t looked at me properly. Still hadn’t asked me if I was okay after everything we went through.

It wasn’t like him.

Michael was always composed, yes. Often quiet, yes. But he wasn’t this detached

Michael’s POVI didn’t expect those words from him.Not from the man who had murdered my sister.Yet there he sat, a soft glow of sincerity in his voice, his eyes steady and unwavering as he spoke—not with the cruel confidence I was used to seeing in his expression, but something… different. Something warmer. And it shook something loose in me.Something I didn’t want to feel.I knew the poison was there, hidden neatly in the delicately prepared dish placed at Fernando’s seat. I knew if he took even a few bites, his breath would catch in his throat, his heart would stutter, and he would die—painfully and silently, just as planned. But why now, of all moments, did I feel the tremble in my fingers?I didn’t even realize I was still holding his hand until he turned to me.“Michael… why are you holding me like this?” he asked. His voice was low, the same calm tone. But there was no edge in it. No mockery. Just a quiet question, spoken with a care I hadn’t expected. My eyes widened. I lo

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   Justice

Michael’s POVI was watching, helpless, as Fernando took another bite of the food I had poisoned, and I couldn’t look away. He would die, and I would finally have my revenge. I would have the satisfaction of seeing him choke on his arrogance. But instead, the air was thick with tension, and the only sound that filled the room was the sound of his spoon on the plate.Fernando lifted his eyes from the meal, catching my gaze, and it hit me like a physical blow. His expression wasn’t one of fear or hesitation, but of something else entirely. He was calm. Too calm.“You know,” he said, breaking the silence, “you’re quite a sight when you’re angry, Michael. I almost feel sorry for you.”I couldn’t respond immediately. This man, the one who had killed my sister without a second thought, was sitting at this table, as if we were friends, as if I hadn’t been plotting to end his life for years. But I wasn’t feeling the sense of triumph I thought I would. I wasn’t feeling anything at all.I

Michael’s POVThe next explosion came without warning. The sound was sharp, as if a thunderous clap had split the air, followed by a tremor that shook the walls of the east wing of the mansion.Dust fell down from the ceiling and landed on our bodies as she shielded our bodies with our arms. For a split second, my heart stopped. Then another explosion came and this time it was closer and deeper. The ground beneath my feet shook. Shouts echoed across the estate, mixed with the chaos of gunfire and the loud sounds of alarms suddenly flaring to life.“What the hell—?”I turned around, my eyes darting around me, trying to make sense of it. My lungs pulled in smoke, thick and bitter, and my stomach twisted.Another blast. This one was near the front gate. Then came the numerous gunshots that were faint at first, but unmistakable. We were under attack from a very dangerous enemy, even worse than I had thought when I first heard the explosions.“Mortis!” I shouted, my voice nearly inaudib

Michael’s POVAll eyes were on me.The tension in the air felt like it could snap. Dust fell from the ceiling like ash as another distant explosion shook the foundation of the estate. Somewhere outside, the sounds of numerous gunfire burst through. It was obvious it was our men firing back at their enemies, eager to make sure none of them entered the mansion..Yet inside this dining hall, everything was still for a heartbeat.Mortis, Emilio, and Marlo stood in a semi-circle around me. Fernando’s limp body hung between Emilio’s arms as if he was already dead. The weight of leadership—or perhaps desperation—had momentarily fallen into my lap immediately I had said I had a plan, and they all waited for me to speak.I took a slow breath, steadying my voice.“I know a way out.”Mortis leaned in, narrowing his eyes. “You’re sure?”“I’ve studied this place,” I said. “Not on purpose, but… I noticed things. Patterns and routes.”“And suddenly, you have an escape route, just like that?” Marl

Michael’s POVThere it was. That damned glowing vial, fixed in Anabelle’s steady hand like it held the salvation of the world. My gut twisted violently.I should’ve felt relief.Hell, a part of me did. But another part of me…A darker, colder part… wanted her to shut the hell up.Fernando's survival would spoil everything.I clenched my fists at my sides as she stepped closer, the vial still raised. He can’t live, that part of me whispered. Not after all he has done.I swallowed hard and forced my voice to speak.“How?” I asked. My tone was calm, curious even. But inside, I was burning.“How do you know this will work?” I added. She stopped a few feet away from us, her eyes meeting mine. There was no fear in them.“Because I made it.”I raised a brow. “You made it?” I asked.“My family specialises in medicine,” she said simply. “Doctors. Chemists. Biotech researchers. I was raised around labs, vials, formulas. I may not carry the same name, but the knowledge? It’s mine too.”She pa

Michael's POV The world around me was filled with chaos. The persistent ringing in my ears was a cruel reminder of the explosion that had thrown mu to the floor. I struggled to piece together my surroundings, but the relentless gunfire made it nearly impossible to focus.I forced my body to move, but the weight of exhaustion was dragging me down. The battle had gone sideways, and our plans lay in ruins. The confusion was suffocating, and I couldn’t help but feel like I was slipping away from everything.Suddenly, I became aware of movement. My body was being lifted, carried as if I weighed nothing, and I could tell we were moving quickly. Forcing my heavy eyes open, I blinked against the haze of blood and dust clouding my vision. The blurred outlines of Marlo's determined face came into view, his features a mask of resolve. He was carrying me, his strides purposeful and unyielding.Beside him, Emilio bore the weight of Fernando. My stomach tightened. Fernando. The weight o

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   The Standoff

Michael’s POV The tension in the air was suffocating. Time seemed to stand still as I locked eyes with Ashley. She had a gun aimed at me, and I had one aimed right back at her.I didn't blink."Drop your weapons," Ashley's voice was steady. "All of you. Now."I didn't flinch. Her command was clear. It wasn't a suggestion. It was an order, one I knew all too well.Behind me, Marlo, Mortis, Emilio, and Anabelle froze in place. They were waiting for me to react, for me to do something—anything.Marlo shifted, his grip tightening on his weapon. Ashley didn’t waver. She kept her gun aimed directly at me, her stance unwavering. "I said drop them," she repeated, a little firmer this time. There was a moment of hesitation from Marlo, then he snapped. His voice was clipped and sharp. “You don’t get to make demands. You’re outnumbered. We can take you down, and we will.”Ashley’s lips curled into a small smile, but it wasn’t one of humor. It was something darker. "Outnumbered? Perhaps. B

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   Dragged to a Corner

Michael's POV The air was tight with tension.Ashley and I stood frozen, our backs barely brushing, guns lowered from our embrace only moments ago. The sound of a man pierced the silence, and I turned slowly to face the source of the threat. One of Fernando’s men—Diego, if I remembered correctly—stood in the shattered hallway, his gun raised directly at Ashley’s chest. His eyes were red with fury, his chest heaving, blood running down the side of his face. Whether it was his own or someone else's, I couldn’t tell. What I could tell was that he had seen Mr together with an FBI agent, Ashley, and now all sorts if things were running around in his head.I watched as his eyes moved between me and Ashley, as if trying to make sense of the situation and convince himself that everything wasn't as it seemed. It didn't take him long for his steel determination followed by a steady expression to take place on his features as he steadied his gun raised arm.“Ashley,” I said under my breath,

Ever since the moment I woke from my coma and saw him again, something primal had returned. A hunger. A pull. And this morning, that pull had become unbearable.Michael’s body was warm against mine, tense with resistance but undeniably soft where I held him. My fingers were firm around his waist, unwilling to let go. His hands pushed against my chest again, harder than last time, but his lips were still locked with mine. For a moment, I let myself believe he wanted this too. For a moment, I tasted triumph. Then I felt it. Sharp, quick, agonizing. He bit me.“Shit!” I growled, staggering back and clutching my lip as the taste of blood mixed with desire.Michael stood there, panting, his chest rising and falling rapidly beneath the loose shirt he had thrown on earlier. • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   The Line Between

Michael’s POV The sunlight spilled into the room like a golden glow, soft and warm on my face. My eyes blinked open slowly. The cotton sheets clung to my skin, warm from a long, dreamless sleep. I stretched lazily, my limbs stiff and heavy, and turned my face toward the window. The sun had fully risen."Shit," I mumbled. Judging by the brightness, it had to be late morning—maybe noon.I stumbled out of bed and dragged myself to the window, lifting the curtain aside to let in the fresh air. A soft breeze rolled in, and with it, the scent of cut grass, earth, and blooming roses. Santiago's estate was beautiful, in a cold, opulent sort of way—structured like an old European villa but infused with a distinctly modern grandeur. Then I saw him.Alan.He stood in the garden, shirtless, a hose in one hand, spraying the rose bushes. His bare chest glistened under the sun. It wasn't just that he was attractive—it was the ease in which he carried himself, calm and confident. I found my

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   Possession

Fernando's POV The private jet touched down on the airstrip with the same grace I had grown accustomed to. Smooth. Precise. Controlled. Just like I demanded everything around me to be.The engines went into silence as the cabin door opened, letting in the sweet America air. Santiago’s estate wasn’t far from here—about a forty-five-minute drive through the winding roads that led into the hills. As soon as we arrived, I stepped out first.Custom black Italian leather boots hit the tarmac with a soft thud. My tailored charcoal suit clung to me like armor, and the sunglasses did little to hide the storm that still brewed behind my eyes. The aftermath of England still simmered in my veins. Michael followed closely behind, stepping down the metal stairs with less grace than usual. I could see the tension in his shoulders, the stiffness in his jaw. He hadn’t said much since the plane lifted off.I hadn’t either. We both pretended not to notice the distance forming between us.Sant

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   Anger in the Air

Michael’s POV The black car came to a stop near Santiago’s private jet, its turbines humming softly in the morning fog that still lingered over the tarmac. With a deep breath, I stepped out of the vehicle, the weight of everything that had happened in the last few hours heavy on my shoulders. The cool English air brushed against my face, a cruel contrast to the fire burning in my chest. Fernando stepped out next, his expression unreadable, his posture commanding as always. His voice cut through the silence.“Michael. On the plane. We’re leaving. Now.” I blinked, taken aback. “What about Marlo? And Mortis? Emilio?”He didn’t answer. He walked ahead, his boots sounding on the ground as if to punctuate the fact that he was done explaining anything to me. My fists clenched. I stood there for a second, unwilling to move, my heart racing. I had barely come to terms with the fact that I had just shot and killed Damian and Andrew, even if I did it to protect Fernando—to protec

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   Ashes of the Past

Fernando’s POVThe loud sounds of two gunshots ripped through the walls like a scream slicing open the air. What the hell!?My head snapped toward the drawing room even before Santiago could react. For a moment, everything froze. Then chaos.“Those were shots,” Santiago said sharply.“No shit,” I snapped, already moving towards the door to see what had caused a gun to be fired. My mind instantly created two scenarios and I couldn't help buy fear for the worst. On one hand, I feared Andrew and Damian had subdued Santiago’s men, took their guns and shot them before making a run for it.Those fucking bastards would do anything to escape at this point. On the other hand, I considered the possibility that Andrew had annoyed one of Santiago’s men and they ended up killing him, just to shut the motherfucker up.I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.We practically ran through the corridor, Santiago’s footsteps just behind mine. My pulse hammered like thunder in my ears, my mind ra

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   In Control

Michael’s POVThe door slammed behind Fernando, and for a while, I just sat there, paralyzed. The room was dark, the air still pulsing with tension and adrenaline. My knees pulled up to my chest, my arms hugging them tightly, my forehead resting on them.My chest ached. Not from the pressure of Fernando’s grip or the terror of his voice mere inches from my ear, but from something deeper. Something more devastating. That man who stormed out of here wasn’t the man I once felt strongly for. The man i thought i could save. Not entirely. Fernando had always been dangerous, but never to me. Never like this. The way he had looked at me—rage burning in those eyes, the tremble in his jaw when he grabbed me—there was no hesitation. No guilt. Just power. Just rage. Just the monster the FBI always warned me about. And still, there was a flicker… something I couldn’t name. Something like heartbreak.I stayed like that for a long time, breathing slowly, willing the tears not to fall, but they

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   The Reckoning

Fernando's POVMy fingers still tingled.I stared at my hand as I stepped out of the room I had just left Michael in—my palm still carrying the memory of his skin, of the way I had squeezed his throat. My heart pounded in my chest, and not from exertion. From something darker, something wilder. The rage. The possessiveness. I should have let go sooner. I should have stopped when I saw the pain in his eyes—but I couldn't. Not after he said he would leave me.I pushed the thought from my head.He needed to know where he belonged. I wasn’t about to let sentimentality ruin everything I had built. Michael was mine. He would stay mine. The drawing room door swung open before I touched it. One of Santiago’s men stood to the side, eyes darting to the ground in submission as I stepped inside. Andrew and Damian still lay on the floor, both bruised, both in restraints. The guards kept their guns pointed at them, their faces hard and unmoving.Andrew lifted his head and sneered."Well, well

Micheal's POV I didn’t think.I just moved. My body, acting on instinct or something far more desperate, had shoved Fernando’s arm up at the last second. The bullet screamed through the air and struck the ceiling.Everyone in the room froze. For a heartbeat, silence rang louder than the gunshot. I could feel the weight of a dozen eyes pierce into my back, all of them stunned—and afraid. The smell of burnt gunpowder lingered, mixing with the tense air of the drawing room. Then Santiago roared.“What the hell just happened?!”Andrew laughed—a cruel, dry, almost unhinged sound. “Looks like the boyfriend still has a soft spot for the spy.”“Shut him up,” Santiago barked. His men didn’t hesitate. One shoved a gag into Andrew’s mouth, forcing him to the floor. Andrew glared at everyone with that same defiant fire, but it didn’t matter. He couldn’t speak now.Fernando didn’t say a word. His gaze cut through the room like a blade.I swallowed. My throat was dry. My hands had started to t
