Chapter 5: I love you, Ariel

Dropping all the work, Damien stood up, walking out of the office. He was impatient, he just wanted to see her already. Heading toward the exit, his steps were fast paced. No employee dared to stand in his way, they thought the boss might be in a bad mood. What was wrong this time, they all thought.

Pulling the car door open, he got in, resting in the back seat.

"Drive" he ordered the chauffeur, his eyes cold

Not daring to defy his boss, Adrien drove to the gray mansion, scared to his wits by his boss' demeanor.

Getting to the gray mansion, Damien hastily got out if the car, heading inside.

"Sir" the maids bowed as they saw him come in. His cold gaze rested on one of the maids.

Bowing her head, she stared at the floor praying in her heart to be spared, their sir looked really...cold, he always did. They thought it'd be different if madam woke up, but he was still the same.

"Where's your young madam? Damien's deep voice rang throughout the room, scaring the maid.

" She...she went out with one of the maids, Second young master...They went to get something from the market. The second chauffeur took them " She managed to say.

Damien's eyes narrowed as he stared at the maid, there was something wrong, but he couldn't tell what it was. Heading outside again, he met the Adrien standing with his back resting beside the car.

Reaching him, Damien motioned for him to give  the keys. Giving the Keys to the sir, Adrien bowed and made his way to the side. He watched the second young master get into the car and drive off. He wondered what their sir was up to. He looked uneasy, perhaps it was something about the young madam?

If not, then why was the boss so restless?

Pushing his thoughts aside, Adrien made his way into the mansion, he was starving.

Hazel smiled as she stared at the woman selling periwinkles. Handing over the leather bag, The woman smiled back.

"Thank you, ma'am" Hazel said, feeling thankful.

Turning back to look at Yara, she smiled mockingly.

"See? I told you I was good at bargaining" Hazel said, shrugging her shoulder proudly as she walked along with Yara

"Yes, yes, madam really is the best...her smile could move a mountain, and her bargaining skills are topnotch" Yara praised.

She actually found their madam so amazing. Normal rich elites would not step foot in the market, it was dirty and filthy. But here she was, in the market together with a mere maid, she even behaved like a commoner.

Heading over to the car which was parked across the market, the two young women joked without a care in the world.

*Hazel's pov*

I and Yara walked towards the car, it was evening, and the sun had began to hide beneath the clouds. The evening breeze felt great as it blew through my hair. But the moment didn't last long. Hearing a screeching sound, I whipped my head in the direction only to find a black car coming at me. I didn't have time to check what brand it was, my head was screaming to run, but my feet were frozen to the spot. Fear had overtook me. Bracing myself, I was ready to accept my fate. I closed my eyes, waiting for the pain, the death?

Then I felt strong arms pull me away, Hugging my body protectively. Looking up, I met a pair of golden eyes...it was his, I'd recognize his eyes anywhere.

*Narrator's POV*

Staring into his eyes, a tear ran down her cheek, staining her flawless skin. She was scared for a moment, she thought...she thought she'd be gone, she thought she wouldn't be able to see Damien again or watch him eat, or hear him say two words every hour, but he had actually saved her, he was her knight in shining armour.

Wrapping her arms around his waist, she hugged him really tight, inhaling his scent...he smelled of earth.

Frozen, he let her hug his body.

Getting back to the Gray mansion, it was already late. He let her freshen up before tucking her into bed. Her eyes followed him around as he shut the windows.

He was about to leave but was halted by her voice...

"Damien" She called out, her voice laced with hesitation

Turning around, his eyes rested on her, staring at her expectantly...waiting for her to speak.

"Thank you" she said, avoiding his gaze as she fumbled with the sheets. She was still overwhelmed by everything that happened. She still had to thank him after all. If it hadn't been for him, who knows what would have happened.

"Thank you for saving me" She continued,  finally looking up to stare at him.

Turning around without a reply, he left, closing the door behind him.

"Did you find anything? Damien asked, his eyes resting on the  screen of a phone...

"No sir, looks like he or she does not want to be found.  But there's one fact...He or she is not from city B"

"Anonymous huh? Damien muttered to himself, stroking his chin as he stared at a pic of the plate number.

"Employ two of the best Shadow guards of the Gray family  to guard her in secret, she doesn't need to know she's  being followed " Damien  said, his eyes narrowing at the phone. He must find out whoever it is, no matter where they are.

Finishing his meeting,  Damien headed for Hazel's room. Pushing the door, it creaked open as he walked in, making his way to where she lay on the bed.

Reaching,  he stared down at her, his eyes filled with hurt. Reaching out his hand, it halted midair, before coming down on her face, stroking it gently. It was smooth and delicate...like a little child, and it hurt him to see her fight a battle that was not hers. It was his battle,  but she had been dragged into it.

Staring down at her, a tear tickled down his cheek involuntarily. She was his little  lamb, his little Ariel, his to protect  and  love.

"I love you, Ariel" He muttered to himself as he watched her stare in her sleep.
