The arrogant woman

Lucifer opened his eyes, tightening his face as the sharp rays of daylight pierced his eyes. It responded as if he had woken after one hundred years of slumber.

He blinked several times until he could finally adjust the light in his eyes.

"How are you feeling now?" A woman's voice asked. Lucifer moved his head to the left, he saw a woman in a white coat wearing a blue shirt underneath. Her wavy cinnamon brown hair tied into a neat ponytail, her starry brown eyes staring right at his obsidian ones.

"Who..." He gave her a scrutinising look.

"I am a doctor as you can see," She said with a polite smile. "How are you feeling Mr Camphell?"

He looked around to examine his surroundings. They were in the VVIP ward in the upper realm of the hospital. The room looked like a hotel room rather than a hospital ward.

He looked at his body which was covered in dressings. Even his head was shaven.

"I am..." He looked at her once again and paused. She lifted her brows seeming perplexed.

"Is there anything you want to say?" She asked.

He was about to open his mouth to say something when-

"Boss!!"

A group of people wearing black suits rushed inside.

"Who allowed these people in?!" Angela asked Dr Leon who was a fellow resident.

"They are his subordinates so I thought..." Leon said scratching his head sheepishly. The men looked really glad seeing their Asura Boss. Though Lucifer appeared like a stern leader he was also capable of earning loyalty from these men.

It was out of pure respect.

"How are feeling boss?! Oh, we thought we would lose you!" Andrew blurted out worriedly. Lucifer sighed and patted Andrew's arm to say it's okay.

"I am alright now. I am alive and my limbs are intact at least," Lucifer Joked but Andrew did not laugh neither his men.

Angela sighed, these many people here could cause a disturbance for the patient's rest. But since they are visitors so she could let it slide for now.

"Get out, I need to talk to my men in private," Lucifer threw a cold glance at Angela. Anglea smiled "sweetly". "Of course, Mr Camphell."

She turned to the door making her lab coat swish and her wavy hair beautifully bounce from side to side. She glanced back at Lucifer whose eyes were boring into her back. Angela scoffed and walked out of the ward.

Lucifer shifted his attention to Andrew. "You know this was attempted murder right?"

"Yes boss, we got some news it's related to Alejandro," Andrew explained. The sources claimed that it was Alejandro who had set up an assassin to kill Lucifer that day of the accident. But it wasn't confirmed since Lucifer had countless enemies even from rival companies.

"That son of bitch," Lucifer muttered murderously. He should have seen this coming somehow.

"Andrew, I need you to keep Alicia safe, his next target would be her..."Alejandro will play whatever dirty tricks to get his hands on her. Lucifer's heart clenched at the thought.

"You need not worry sire, we will keep Young miss safe," Andrew affirmed.

"He must have already heard about my weak state right now..." And this is bad news. His rivals are anticipating an opportunity to grasp on Lucifer's weakness.

"We stopped the tabloids from publishing about the incident boss," Andrew had made sure no publishing company in NYC could spread the news about Lucifer's accident.

"Good Job, Andrew," Andrew couldn't help himself from feeling proud. Lucifer's praise was only bestowed once in a blue moon after all.

The door slid open.

"Your time is up," Angela beamed, displaying her business smile to Lucifer.

Lucifer frowned at her. "Can't you see I am talking to my men here?"

"Of course I can Mr Camphell! I am not blind." Angela exclaimed sarcastically. She lifted her sleeve to reveal her platinum Rolex watch ticking silently. She verified the time and said. "It's time to take your medicines and your painkillers as well,"

"I am not done talking," He snarled.

"You can talk later! There is plenty of time anyway and you need rest after taking the meds so kindly send your men outside," She crossed her arms over her chest standing rigid as a stubborn rock and gave him a stern look.

Lucifer's eyes darkened as if he was playing a scheme to kill her.

"And who do you think you are to tell me that, woman?" Angela was shocked by the audacity of his tone. What's the point of having a gorgeous face if you have a shitty personality? She clicked her tongue in disdain.

"My name is Angela Colton, Mr Camphell. I am the one who saved your life by donating blood, you know?" Angela emphasised the word saved dramatically. Sarcasm pouring out from each letter.

Lucifer had enough of this woman's shit.

"Andrew, get the cheque," Angela was weirded upon hearing this man had carried the cheque everywhere he goes. Is he that filthy rich? Damn.

"Yes sir," Andrew drew out a chequebook with a leather cover from his coat.

"Here, write as many zeros as you like and get out, "Lucifer singed the chequebook and tore a page and threw it on Angela's face. The piece of expensive paper delicately fluttered in the air and elegantly landed on the floor.

A blue vein popped on Angela's neck. She clenched her fists in her pockets squeezing her sweaty palms. It was becoming troublesome to keep her polite smile in place.

She picked up the cheque from the floor, shredded it into pieces and she threw it on Lucifer's assholian face.

His face had turned into a permanently shocked statue. His men's mouth went agape registering what had just happened.

And for the grand finale, she took out some change of 100 dollars and rained it on Lucifer. It looked like a confetti of bills."Oh, you think you are the only one with money?"

Lucifer's lips painted into a devilish smirk. It was so bewitching to look at that it could craze any woman. Any women except Angela, who looked at him in the eyes without flinching.

"Do you know who you are talking to?!" Andrew shouted at her but immediately halted at Lucifer's raised hand. Signalling him to stop.

"You have some guts to do that, Miss Colton. Perhaps you don't know I am hmmm?" As the devil possessed him, his voice turned temptingly smooth. Angela's heart wavered for a second looking into his deep gaze.

So deep it could consume her into an endless abyss.

She straightened her back trying to look more confidant and smirked. "Oh, I don't care who you are, to me you are just a patient,"

"I'll give you 3 minutes, tell these men to get out," She turned to Andrew and his men, gave them a threatening glare and stormed out of the hospital room.

His men stared at Lucifer as if he had grown horns. His bottomless eyes glinted with amusement, the corner of his lips lifted into a terrifyingly handsome grin.

For his men, this look screamed blood.

"Just a patient huh? We'll see about that. Angela Colton."
