Alaina was gone when Arianna woke up this morning. She turned on the screen of her phone and opened her picture gallery. Looking at the picture of her, Alaina, and Abigail. She wished Abigail was here, she would know what to do to help Alaina. She pulled up the keypad and dialed Abigail’s number, but she couldn’t make herself hit the dial button. Alaina left Caleb in his room and left him a note. She hated having to do this but he just wasn’t grasping the danger this could cause for him and for her, and for her sister. Regardless of her feelings for him, she had to do whatever it took to protect her sister. Protecting Arianna was her first priority. She would not be selfish and risk her sister's safety for her own happiness. What short lived happiness it would be, and it would be short lived. She got back home and she knew that Caleb would come back looking for her when he woke up. She had to make it look like they had left, at least for a few days. His flight back to North Dakota was the following day. Even if he delayed his trip, he couldn’t stay too long. He would want to get back home and go back to work. Abigail woke up the next morning and checked her phone to see what time it was. She couldn’t believe what she saw. She sat there just staring at her phone, until Nicholas walked in. “Love, what’s wrong?” he asked. “Nothing is wrong, I just checked my phone to see what time it was, and I have a missed call and a message from Alaina.” she said. “I’m just shocked, I can’t believe she called.” “Is everything ok?” “I guess so. Caleb climbed off the plane, anger seething through his whole body. He walked through the terminal to baggage claim. He waited until finally baggage started to come through. Getting his bags, he made his way out of the airport and to his truck. He spent the whole plane ride searching for whatever information he could on vampires. He already knew some of what he read were myths based on what Alaina had already told him. But what he needed to know, was how to kill them. He found several different methods, but there was no way of knowing which ones were myths and which ones were true. He couldn’t very well try it out on one. Unless, he thought to himself, he could find a way to weaken one enough to keep it captive until he could figure out how to kill it. Caleb woke up the next morning and he thought for sure that his head was about to split open. He fumbled his way to his bathroom and found some ibuprofen. He turned on the water in the sink and threw a handful of ibuprofen into his mouth and stuck his head down to the faucet and got a mouthful of water and swallowed the pills. He turned off the water and went over to the toilet to relieve himself, trying not to throw up in the process. He washed his hands and went back into the bedroom. He realized that he had left his sliding glass door open. He walked over to the door and was about to close it when he seen the bottle of whiskey still sitting on the outside table. The hell with it, he thought to himself. He picked it up and took a big drink. He shut the door and walked over to his bed and picked up his phone, it was still off. Alaina and Arianna got off the plane in Devils Lake and got a rental car. They decided to get a hotel room first before they went to Caleb’s. “Are you sure I should go to Caleb’s with you? Maybe I should just stay at the hotel.” Arianna asked. “Yes, I am sure. I need you there for moral support.” Alaina said and they both laughed. They got their bags out of the car and went inside the hotel. After they got into their room and put their stuff away, Alaina changed her clothes. And then changed her clothes again. She was nervous and procrastinating. “Stop fidgeting, you look great.” Arianna told her. “I’m nervous, and if I am being honest, I’m scared.” Alaina said. “I know.
