Chapter 3

Claire Pov

I was in my room when my maid rushed in, looking startled. I raised an eyebrow at her while I watched her breath heavily like a chased rat. She had her hand on her chest while she breathed.

"Please tell me you didn't run a meter miles just to tell me nothing." I said, a bit less concerned.

"My princess, you won't understand." She said, still breathing heavily.

"So make me understand."

"I was at the market when I heard the news."

I was a bit interested in what she was about to say, despite not knowing what she was actually talking about. "What news?" I asked.

"He's in the territory, and he just arrived a few minutes ago." She said,

"Who's that?" I asked, inquisitively.

"Alpha Nathan." She replied.

On hearing the name, I stood up from the couch. "Where is he heading to now?"

"To the palace." She notified me.

"Only him, or does he have more people with him?" I asked.

"There are only two convoid cars approaching here. So no, it's not just him alone."

I couldn't explain my expression at the moment. I shouldn't be happy he's coming, should I? Not after what he did?

But then on the other hand, I don't find him to be wrong. Some thing must have cursed it in the first place. Alpha Nathan won't just start playing the attitude just like that. It's either father is the one at fault.

I believe Alpha Nathan is still cool. Despite knowing how important the gem of life is, he was willing to give it to my father just to save mom, and yet, the picture had painted him all black.

"Go, and find out his location. Do let me know when he reaches the palace." When she left, I walked to the window, staring down.

I was becoming impatient to see his face. I desperately want to have that conversation with him, I want to see for myself whether or not he is what they say about him. But why would father take mother away from him in the first place? Even after having the gem to himself? After what happened, do they expect every thing to be over like that?

If I were Alpha Nathan, I'd do the same too. I won't hesitate to take action without a second thought. Why would you take my mate away from me, yet claiming smart? I mean, who does that?

I remembered my mother telling me that there's only two reasons to why he had shown up. Either he wants her back, or to take revenge on the pack. To me, as much as I don't want the second reason, I don't want the first either. Don't ask me why.

My maid speedily barged in. I didn't complain, she looked frustrated with the run-around stuff. I won't blame her either, she's only doing her job.

"He's almost close to the palace. He'll be here any second from now." She said in gasps.

"Find me some thing to wear, I can't use this to meet him." She gave me a questioning look but dared not to say a word.

I get it. She looks surprised why I had to be so fashionable to some one whom the pack despised. They despise him, but I don't. From my window, I watched the gate open, while two cars drove in. "Finally, he's here." I smiled.

She picked my favorite gown. She assisted me with putting it on, and a slight makeup on the one still on my face. She loosened my hair, packing it in the best style.

"You're good to go, My princess."

I admired myself in the mirror, I can't imagine I was this beautiful. I know I am, but not so much aware of it like I do now. Thankfully, he was gonna see me. I can't imagine how the next moment will be with him giving me those killing looks.

I stayed back, not wanting to leave now. "Is there a problem, My princess?" My maid asked me.

"No, every thing is fine."

"We should meet Alpha Nathan now, or have you changed your mind?" She inquired.

I chuckled softly. "Not at all. I believe he's having an important conversation with my parents, I wouldn't want to interrupt. I know when to go."

We waited for what took about fifteen minutes, before I decided we should get going.

"Lead the way." She started and I walked behind her.

My heart was pounding hard, but I didn't care. I just want to look at his face. I couldn't get enough on the night of the party because of dad, and he's not doing that today.

When we got to the door which led to the sitting room, I ordered my maid to leave. I held my long gown high while I made my way further to the sitting room.

"Father." I called, drawing their attention to myself.

I noticed his eyes on me, even when my gaze was staring at my father. "Claire, you should be in your room."

"I don't want to."

"And why would you say that?" He questioned.

"Sweetheart, I think you should listen to your father. Go to your room." Mother said.

I would have loved to listen to her but no. Not this time. No one is depriving me of my decision any more. I'm not a kid any more, so they shouldn't treat me like one. I have my right, I've made my decision, and that's to stay here. I didn't say a word to them, I moved my gaze from him to Alpha Nathan who's gaze hadn't left me. I could feel the butterflies in my stomach, making rumbling sounds of wants. When I said Alpha Nathan is my mate, I wasn't dumb.

If he isn't, I wouldn't be feeling this way towards him. Just his gaze alone got me emotionally paralyzed, what about every thing about him? What would be my state when I have him all to myself?

I don't know what he was doing to me, but whatever it is, he was winning over me.
