Willow's POV

“Mr. Samson, is Carl around?” Luigi said into the phone, his eyes locked on mine. I gave Luigi a confused look.

“Carl?” I asked. “Is everything all right?” Luigi only nodded, a sly smile on his face. Luigi pressed a button on the phone, shifting the call to speaker phone. Moments later, Carl’s anxious and expectant voice came through.

“Uncle Luigi?” Carl asked. “Did Willow win?”

I was touched by Carl’s interest in my competition. The young boy truly did care about me, and the anxious tone in his voice proved how much.

“She did,” Luigi replied, still looking at me.

“She did? YES!” Carl shouted exuberantly into the phone. “I knew she’d win! Willow’s good at everything!’

Coming from a marriage where I was constantly criticized, it was strange to hear someone proclaim that I was ‘good at everything’. I’d spent years believing I wasn’t good at anything. Carl’s sweet words caused my heart to swell.

“Yes, it’s very exciting,” Luigi chuckled into the phone. “But I have some more e

  • Ex and Son Beg, But I Never Turn Back   Chapter 105: Did She Just Say ‘Wife?’

Willow’s POVFrozen in spot, I stared at the beautiful woman standing before me.Did she just say wife? But how was that possible?MY hand lingered on the doorknob, my mind spinning. This couldn’t be. There was no way Luigi had a wife. And yet, there she was. This woman with sharp poise, dressed simply yet elegantly, suitcase in hand and a look on her face that said she had every right to be there. My stomach twisted.“My name is Guilia” the woman said while my mind still reeled. Her her voice was calm, smooth, almost casual. “Mind if I come in?”My mouth went dry. “I…I’m…not sure…” I stammered, my heart hammering as the woman stepped forward and into the foyer. She looked around, set down her suitcase, and then walked towards the kitchen, her high heels clicking against the hardwood floor.I hesitated, then followed her.In the kitchen, her eyes scanning the framed photographs on the wall, landing on the coffee machine. “Cozy,” she said, almost benignly, and I felt a spark of fury fli

  • Ex and Son Beg, But I Never Turn Back   Chapter 104: A Stranger at the Door

Willow's POVLuigi carried me to his bedroom, where he finally set me down. Leaving me in the middle of the bedroom, he walked to the door and closed it. Then he turned to me, his eyes full of lust.“I’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” he said, his voice husky. Then he came back to me, cupped my face in his hands, and kissed me softly. There was no urgency in his kiss. Our lips brushed together gently, igniting a spark deep within me. It was our first kiss as an official couple, and it was perfect, long and slow. But when I wrapped my arms around his back to pull him closer, he broke the kiss. With a playful smile, he started for the bathroom. Confused, I cocked my head to the side, standing in place. He stopped at the doorway to the bathroom and looked at me, his expression teasing.“Coming?” he asked. He went into the bathroom, and moments later I heard the sound of the shower turn on. Finally understanding what he was doing, I bit my lip, a shy blush creeping onto my cheeks

  • Ex and Son Beg, But I Never Turn Back   Chapter 103 You’re An Excellent Mother

Willow's POVHolding the phone, I stared at the text message from Logan. I was irritated by the message. ‘More drama,’ I thought to myself, drama that I didn’t need. The message was completely out of the blue. Was he for real? Was he actually begging me to come home after all that had happened. So things were over with him and Beatrice. That surprised me a bit. I thought for sure that they were all living happily together, one big, loving family: Logan, Beatrice, Leo and Zoe. So many times over the past few months, I’d pictured the four of them, laughing around the breakfast table, happily eating pancakes or eggs. The image had felt like a stab right to my heart, so I’d done my best not to think about it and to just focus on my work, on my own friends, on Carl and my relationship with him.But now they were over? For a brief moment, I wondered what had happened to cause them to split. Beatrice was relentless, and she’d made it perfectly clear that she wanted Logan. Had they fought? Had

  • Ex and Son Beg, But I Never Turn Back   Chapter 102: Bedtime Talk

Willow's POVThat night, after dinner, Carl asked if I would put him to bed. Gladly, I met him in his room. He was so adorable in his shark-print pajamas, laying on the bed, ready to be tucked in. Sharks were his latest fascinating, and he had a book clenched in his hands, also about sharks. So I snuggled in beside him and read the story to him.It was a sweet moment, snuggled up in bed with Carl, reading him a bedtime story just like I used to with Leo. I didn’t realize how much I’d missed these quiet, private moments with Leo. Carl listened intently at first, as I even used different voices for all the characters, causing him to giggle. But by the end of the story, he was yawning, his eyes droopy with sleep. He was fighting to stay awake. It was way past his bedtime, so I turned to leave, but he grabbed my hand, struggling to stay asleep.“Don’t go yet,” he said, his voice soft and small. I was more than happy to stay with him as long as he needed. Luigi was downstairs, cleaning up

  • Ex and Son Beg, But I Never Turn Back   Chapter 101: Get Out!

Logan's POV“Mom?” Beatrice snapped at Leo. She violently took a few steps towards, causing Leo to recoil. She was unhinged. I could see it on her face. She was about to unleash all her fury and jealousy over Willow onto the small, innocent child. Leo had tried to diffuse the situation, but calling Beatrice ‘Mom’ had caused something inside of Beatrice to snap.“I’m not your mother,” she told Leo, her voice harsh and cold. “You want to see your mother. Here.” She marched over and picked up the remote. She clicked the TV on and pointed, as Willow came into view, another re-run of her victory from the competition. “There she is, Leo. Your REAL mother.” Beatrice’s voice was dripping with contempt and sarcasm.Leo was visibly shaking as he stuttered, “I’m sorry…I just thought…I…”“That I was going to be your mother?” Beatrice snapped at him. “Well think again, Leo, because I have no interest in being your ‘Mommy’.” She enunciated the last word with so much mocking that even I was shocked b

  • Ex and Son Beg, But I Never Turn Back   Chapter 100: Battlefield

Logan's POVBeatrice held her hand over cheek, clearly stunned by the slap. She froze in place, her mouth agape. My cheeks flushed with alcohol and anger. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and saw that my eyes were bloodshot. For a brief moment, I wondered if Beatrice was right. Was I really just some drunken loser. I mean, I’d just hit a woman. That was hardly what real men did. “Logan,” she whispered, aghast. “Get a hold of yourself.”The moment of clarity washed away, and my anger re-fuelled. Who was she to tell me what to do? SHE was the reason I was in this mess in the first place. Why had I ever listened to her? My whole life was a fucking mess, and the reason was standing there, right in front of me, telling ME how to behave?Within moments, I worked myself into a whiskey-fueled frenzy now, angry and humiliated, and I was lashing out at Beatrice, unable to control the fury rising in me.“This is all your fault,” I yelled at her, pointing my finger in her face. “My com
