SIXTEEN: CELESTE

“Run!!” 

“Protect the young ones!” 

“Please!” 

“Where is the alpha!” 

“Shut up” 

For some reason it was hard to breath, everywhere felt hot. I forced my eyes open and the sound of ringing bells immediately hit my ears. Below me was a rough sandy ground.

I dug my nails into the soil and forced myself to sit up. It was night time, I stared at the scene before me. There was fire everywhere, it surrounded the entire place, some of the houses were on fire as well as the trees.

 I heard a distant howling sound and for some reason tears started to drop down from my eyes.

I looked down at my skin covered in soot and dirt, I was wearing a peach dress and it was partly torn. I coughed hard as the smoke was making it hard to breathe.

Pulling  myself up to my knees, my whole body ached. Suddenly a large beast jumped and cut through a young woman's throat, tearing the flesh and spilling blood.

I knelt there dumb struck, my eyes twitching in fear as I watched the woman's lifeless body, I suddenly pushed myself and began to scramble away while a scream left my throat. I could barely run, my leg seemed hurt.

The beast rushed towards me with an angry growl and under the moonlight I could see its golden eyes.

“Celest!” Someone shouted.

“Celest!” The voice boomed.

Who was Celeste? 

Why were they shouting Celest

I tripped on a dead body and hit the ground hard, I groaned in pain and pulled myself forward. 

I turned around to find the wolf jumping high, about to pounce on me. My eyes widened in fear, unable to move as the wolf barred its teeth at me.

I screamed as the beast was about to kill me, but I heard a sudden loud thud and when I opened my eyes. I found the beast tumbling with another brown one of its kind, but this one was bigger.

I watched as the brown beast dug its claws into the limb of the other and tore through it in a second.

The black beast beneath it stopped moving and the brown beast covered in blood stepped away from it. His eyes slowly moved towards me and it started moving in my direction.

“No!, spare me!!” I screamed, scrambling backwards.

The beast paused and I watched in shock as it transformed into a massive naked man.

I looked away from his nakedness as I tried to calm my heart rate. 

I heard footsteps coming closer to me and before I knew it, a hand was under my chin tilting my face.

I opened my eyes to find the man in front of me, he's squatting and his amber eyes stare deep into my soul.

His face I haven't seen before. He caresses my chin gently and there's a softness in his eyes.

“I would never hurt you Celest” he smiles subtly. In that moment I feel safe ignoring the whole chaos around me.

I gasped loudly as I woke up. I sat on my bed panting hard and trying to calm my heart rate. I touch my damp skin and realise I'm sweating in reality as well.

I try to wrap my mind around the dream I just had while trying to calm my breathing.

“Are you okay?” a voice asked and I turned to find Phoebe staring at me.

“Y ... .yeah” I force a smile. I look around the room and notice Daphne is not around.

“Where's Daphne?” I asked.

“Um, solitary confinement, something about breaking a rule?” Phoebe shrugged.

I freeze hearing it. “Will she be okay?” I asked. Phoebe’s eyes narrowed and she stared at me hard.

“You're not asking why she's there. You know something?” She asked me.

As much as this roommate of mine was never present, she seemed smart and I don't know if I can trust her .

I won't be surprised if Daphne broke a rule, I just don't know this solitary confinement stuff, so I'm just hoping she'll be okay” I replied in a casual tone, even adding a yawn in between.

“Yeah, she'll be fine, depending on how long she stays there” Phoebe flashes me a smile.

“Also it's unlike you to sleep in, you've missed first period” She adds.

“What?!” I jump out of bed and quickly rush towards the bathroom.
