LOGINI made it to class and I’m late for the first time. Taking in a deep breath I push the door open and enter the class.
“And that’s the reason why….” Mr Alistair stops as he notices my presence, he gives me a once over and returns to face the class. For some reason I felt hurt, there’s no usual longing in his eyes and he looked barely bothered.
I kept my head low and began to walk to my seat, apparently Raphael had chosen the seat behind me as his new seat. His eyes met mine and I immediately looked away, I was scared of all of them. Just as I am about to sit down…
“Miss Martins, you are late,” Mr Alistair commented.
I looked up to meet his amber eyes that stared at me with an unbothered look. I swallowed the lump in my throat, was it because of our last interaction, the way I reacted and acted?
“I am sorry sir, I overslept and…”
“I do not wish to hear your excuses, it mustn’t repeat itself” He said to me and I simply nodded.
I finally sit in my chair and breathe out.
“And so the hold has loosened, what have you done Martins” Raphael commented and I realised this is the first time he has ever referred to me with my name, well surname but still.
I said nothing and visibly heard him scoff. “What is wrong with you,” I asked him without turning around.
“You” He suddenly said and I froze in my seat.
I turned around to meet his grey eyes and they were staring down into my soul.
I believe a minute passes where we just stare at each other.
“Focus” He suddenly said. I narrow my eyes at him suddenly remembering the pool incident.
“You need help” I scoffed at him and turned to face my front.
“Miss Martins repeat what I just said,” Mr Alistair said, adjusting his glasses with his arms folded across his chest. There’s no smile on his face and it makes me realise how stern he actually looks.
“I wasn’t paying attention sir,” I replied.
“I thought as much, you’re going to detention” He declared and I froze. They had detention?
“Sir I…” I was speaking but Mr Alistair simply held his hands up stopping me from speaking.
I sighed and slowly sank back to my seat.
Raphael didn’t bother talking to me again and I went through the rest of the classes in silence.
“Class dismissed” Mr Alistair said. I picked up my bag and turned almost bumping into Raphael, he evaded me very quickly, ensuring our bodies didn’t touch and then took two feet backwards. I glared at him and began to walk away.
“Miss Martins, a word” Mr Alistair said to me and I paused and turned to face him as the rest of my classmates exited the class.
“Are you okay?” He suddenly asked and I only stared at him, he had been one of the few nice people to me and I wondered why his behaviour had changed.
“I am,” I replied.
“Did something happen, you were quite shaken up yesterday” He stated and I looked at my weird professor, was he bipolar?
“I’m fine sir” I replied and he nodded.
“Our sessions are ending.” he said and I suddenly felt sad, but I only nodded instead of asking why.
He chuckled and looked straight at me, “You’re not wondering why?” He asked.
“I am actually but you must have your reasons, after all it's been two weeks, I think I’ve caught up” I shrugged and Mr Alistair stood up from the bench which he was leaning on and made his way over to me. I could hear his boots clicking on the floor much more loudly due to the empty room. I thought of stepping back but I knew nothing would happen.
When he was only a foot away, he chuckled and grabbed my chin with two of his fingers and I noticed the longing back in his eyes, however I could not shake off the feeling of knowing he could kill me right now.
“Someone reported us, said I’m favouring a particular student” He pulled my chin downwards a little causing my lips to part.
“Sir I…” He made a shushing sound and I closed my mouth.
“It simply isn’t yet time, Celeste” He said and sighed as if remembering himself.
“Miss Martins” He corrected himself but I stared at him with eyes as wide as saucers. I was called Celeste in my dream as well. But there was no sign of Mr Alistair. It was a totally different person.
“It was a pleasure tutoring you miss Martins, too bad it was cut short” Mr Alistair took another step forward and the scent of his cologne filled my nose, such that I found myself breathing it in,
“My textbook was being used by my teacher” A voice suddenly said and I moved back immediately but Mr Alistair stood and only turned around to see the person.
“Lucian,” he acknowledged and stepped away from me.
I looked to find the dragon prince standing by the doorway, he didn’t even spare me a glance, Mr Alistair walked over to him with the textbook which he collected and walked away. “Have a nice day Miss Martins” Mr Alistair said with a friendly smile on his face, I simply nodded and walked away.
After I left the class, I walked through the hallway going outside. I stared at the olden themed building and suddenly remembered the forbidden one behind. I sincerely hoped Daphne was alright in the said solitary confinement.
I stared at the clouds and took a deep breath, bracing myself for a 3 hour session of detention with different forms of monsters,
“Wouldn’t that make things harder” Someone asked.“On the contrary, it would make things faster” Another said.“We’ll split up in twos” Raphael said with a dull tone.“Perfect” Jenna smiled clinging even closer to him.“If you were smart enough, you would realise there are specifically different creatures on our team and of course that would have to do with the clues, so I refuse your suggestion, happy?” Cillian asked and this time Raphael narrowed his own eyes.“Let’s try to decipher what this means” Cillian said turning to the rest of us.“What if the two means second floor?” I asked and heard a snot and then full blown laughter.“How does that even make sense” Jenna laughed.“Go on” Cillian said ignoring her.“I mean, the second floor is usually isolated and all” I shrugged.“Let’s check it then” Cillian said and the house members grumbled but still moved forward.“Look at you using your little brain sweet apple” Cillian praised patting my head and I glared at him making him laugh.
The next week it was finally time for the Founder’s festival which was apparently lasting a whole week, the school had been seriously decorated and there was a large banner declaring the start of the festival. They had even gone as far as erecting a statue and when I asked Daphne she said they only erected the statue during the festival and always took it down, apparently it was the founder’s wish.I was currently reading what was on the statueEldric ValdarisFounder of Bridgeford highFounded in 1810Birth- 1415-1912- DeathThe man lived over 400 years and then died, I wondered what kind of creature, he had been. I stared at the statue. It was of him when he looked to be in his forties had he been human.I raised my hand to touch the statue and I immediately pulled back and winced. I looked at my palm and noticed it was red, almost like the statue was too hot to touch.I stared at the statue again and began to walk away.I looked at the school building in awe.“So bridgeford high wa
The next morning as I brushed my hair to go for assembly, my room door slammed open causing me to drop my brush and squeal a bit.“What the hell!” I shouted thinking it was Phoebe who came back drunk again but when I turned around my eyes widened.“Daphne!” I screamed and jumped on her, she caught me in a hug but almost immediately dropped me down.“You’ve caused me some serious trouble” She said with a small smile and her voice was badly cracked.“I’m sorry, what did they do to you?” I asked while examining her, in just a few days she had slimmed down, she had bruises and she reeked but I wasn’t telling her that yet.“Let’s just say, I wouldn’t be able to sing for a while” Hearing her say that made me frown deeper and I genuinely began to wonder what they had done to her.“Go for assembly, I need to have a deep bath, I’ll see you later” She said and I nodded, I squeezed her in a hug again and left the room.I quickly head to the assembly ground, where everyone is lining up. My mind g
When I come to, I’m in my room on the bed. I looked around the room and discovered that I was alone. My mind travelled back to what happened as I tried to recall how I ended up here.I remembered the solitary confinement and then the headmistress’ warning, my eyes widened again as I realised she had threatened to kill me much earlier than she planned, had I continued provoking her.Ember, I was about to enter the dining room after her when my vision became blurry, someone caught me before I fell, someone…Raphael?I remembered his face being the last thing I saw but the image was blurry, or was that a dream, how did I end up here then or did he carry me here?I was asking these questions to no one in particular. I had a slight headache and as I adjusted my position, my stomach began to grumble. I was still yet to have dinner, I had a feeling it was very late. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath and stood up from the bed.Daphne was in solitary confinement and I never knew where Ph
“Avery, you’re safe okay” she assured, “Here” She handed me her gold key.“You can hold onto it, until we return safely," she said and I nodded and without thinking, I took a deep breath and jumped inside. Not long after Ember jumped inside too, closing the door and we were met with total darkness.“Hold on” I heard Ember moving but couldn’t see her, suddenly the place was illuminated as fire spewed from her mouth until a torch lit where we were. The place looked like some medieval dungeon. We walked down and saw different metal doors where we couldn’t even see who was inside.Ember touched each door closing her eyes and stopped at one.She opened her eyes and turned to me, “She’s here”I made my way to the door where Ember was and slotted in her golden key and sure enough the key opened the door.Ember held the torch at the door and I entered, I found a figure crouched down on the dirty ground and noticing the lights and footsteps, she looked up.A frown marred my face as I took in t
Lucian sat at the front seat and dropped his back on the desk, not even bothering to greet anyone. Didn't he have friends or his friends weren’t the type to be in detention.I hear footsteps coming from the back and Marie passes me and heads towards the front seat, particularly towards Lucian. She stops in front of him and plops down on his desk, pushing his bag aside, her uniform had ridden up and her fair thighs were showing.I couldn’t really make out what she was saying but he was responding and there seemed to be a whole conversation. She eventually nodded and left, walking back to her seat but she wasn’t smiling. The rest of the detention went on quite boringly and the teacher never came back, making me wonder who’s homeroom teacher was.I packed my things and my book of doodles which was all I was doing for the past three hours into my bag. Immediately after the time elapsed, Lucian walked out of the class and people began to leave one by one.I walked out of the class and some
“What,"What just happened?” I asked, my voice trembling and Phoebe scoffed.“She's a dragon of course” she rolled her eyes and my lips moved but no words came out. Daphne narrowed her eyes at me and suddenly grabbed my hands, pulling me towards the door and I reluctantly went with her while still
When I came out from the stall, the bathroom was empty, they had probably gone for dinner.I made my way to the halls, it was empty as well and I rushed over to my room, pushing the door open and scanning round. My roommates weren't in, it looked like everyone had gone for dinner, there was a small
I looked down at the paper in my hand, the rooms were on the third story.Once again I made my way through the hall and in front of my arch nemesis, the stairs. I looked around searching for an elevator but there were only stairs. I stared down in disbelief. It's the 21st century, why were there no
James' rickety old car struggled on the road, making a crunching sound as it climbed the stones and granite, we were almost there.I raised my phone, sticking it outside the window as the afternoon sun hit my caramel skin and took a selfie. I pulled my phone back inside and zoomed in on the picture
