We waited in the car for marlene to finish her shift at the diner. Destin and me filled Colton in on what happened this morning at the pack hospital. It almost seems surreal that only this morning I had learnt about my mothers childhood best friend and a few hours later we find her. I also rang Delilah to tell her we would be running a little late I didn’t want to worry her or the coven. The last few customers leave the diner and I can see the waitress locking up and turning the open sign over to closed. I didn’t see Marlene until she was tapping on my side window. She invites us back to her cottage so we can talk she said she would feel more comfortable there. We are headed back on the road towards the coven when we take a turn ten minutes up the road onto a dusty dirty road and follow it for another thirty minutes by this time Destin is starting to get suspicious of our new friend and looks into the rear view mirror and asks “You live all the way out here?” Then Destin glances bac

Marlene packed the best she could in her state even with the help from us. She seems to be in complete shock she hasn’t said a single word since I gave her the news it has been a long hour drive to the coven. The high priestess along with Delilah are waiting outside the high priestess’s cottage when we arrive Marlene collapses into the arms of the high priestess while Delilah takes the twins and i to the cottage we will be calling home for the next week. My father and a group of the elite warriors are in a convoy almost a hours away to pick Marlene up to take her home. My mother would have come but she is refuses to leave Sophia’s side in case she wakes up. I can’t help but laugh when we get to our cottage it’s small in size not that we mind and but it only has enough room for one double and a single bed. “Looks like you two are sharing then” I laugh at the sight imagining both bulky boys crammed into the bed like sardines. I look at Colton confused I’m not sure of his motives at this point but his behaviour has me on edge this is not like Colton to be creeping around in the night and dragging me off into the woods. His pacing back and forth pulling his hair. “COLTON” I bring him out of his thoughts. He glares at me and I’m unsure of what to make of it.“Where were you faith? What were you doing in the woods” “Have you been following me Colton what is going on why did you bring me out here” He sits next to me on the long and im feeling uncomfortable about his erratic behaviour. “No I haven’t been following you but why were you out here in the woods at night by yourself what were you doing?” “I couldn’t sleep so I thought a run might wear me down a bit why are you so on edge Colton talk to me” He slumps his shoulders in defeat as if he wants to talk about something but can’t. “Okay so this is going to sound weird but every since we Um well umm you know made out that night I have been having weird

The water is cool and refreshing on my skin when I resurface from the jump I’m met with Atticus splashing me. I splash him back before our playful game is interrupted by Destin jumping into the water doing a Bombie between me and atticus. When he resurfaces he flicks his wet hair at me. The rest of the guys are at the other end of the rock pool and call Destin over for a bombie competition. Destin gives me a knowing look before he swims off. “So tell me faith I heard the news whirling around the coven and I’m intrigued how does a wolf such as yourself know enough about magic to reverse the effect of a new blood it’s pretty admirable” “Well nice to hear in the talk of the coven I thought gossip was more up the elves alley. The healers come rushing into the high priestess’s room with a few of the magic elders. I hold her hand the entire time stroking her hair at one point she places something in my hand but I do not peel my eyes off her to look what it is. the healers try traditional and western medics the bring her life force back but it’s all done in vain. She is gone my would be mentor leader of the midnight coven and friend to many lays lifeless on the floor it brings very little comfort knowing I was there to help her pass into the beyond. The tears start to pour and I can not stop them I look into my hand to find she placed a key in my hand I have no idea what the key is for but hopefully one of the elders do. We sit in silence for a while before one of the elders clears his throat. “We must prepare the ritual to have Delilah sworn in as high priestess immediately. We shall announce to the coven the significant loss of the high priestess and allow them to come with blessings before we send her off

Delilah has now come from the ritual and has come to bless the deceased. I’m still in shock that Atticus’s life had been cut short and everything after speaking to his mother was a blur. The pyres are lit and everyone starts to head off when Delilah announces a coven meeting in the main hall in a hour. Delilah walks in step with me thanking me for all my assistance she then asks me to follow her back to the high priestess’s cottage. We walk into the ritual room the pentacle laid in the middle with the elements on each star point there’s a table with feathers, water, animal bones, sand, ashes and all sorts of crystals spread among it. She asks for the key I told no one about so I presume I can trust her judgement. She knocks on the table three times then pulls it forward and lifts up an alter cloth that decorated the wall. She puts the key in and turns it in the lock and it soon opens. She clears the contents and sets them down on the dining table before wandering back into the ritual

Even though it has been a big day and long journey the midnight crescent swears in each member of the midnight coven who have now taken the name midnight crescent coven it seemed fitting then everyone was shown to their rooms. Unsurprisingly Marlene is also sworn in as a midnight crescent coven and pack member she already has been set up in a suite in the pack house but now she has a coven she wants to live amongst them and takes the last remaining cottage for her and Sophia when she awakens. It’s well past midnight when I take a shower and get into bed it isn’t long before the twins arrive together and with out a word get on either side of me in the bed knowing I don’t need their words just their company. That is until Destin farts and Dutch ovens me and for the first time in what seems like forever I laugh at his gross boyish antics. They both wrap an arm around me and I drift off to sleep. I feel like I’m in a deep sleep I’m not dreaming suddenly I feel prickles on my skin and the

I wake up the next morning to an empty bed I look at the clock on the bedside table and spring out of bed when I see it’s eleven in the morning usually it’s a six am start for me working out then study or school. I walk to the shower feeling a little swollen down stairs then imagines of last night rendezvous I smile at what the twins and I got up to but start to feel alone and used considering not one of them stayed with me until I woke up. Now I’m angry sad and decide to get dressed and head to the hospital to check in with Sophia before going down to the coven to make sure everyone including Delilah and Atticus’s family are settling in well. I finish up in the shower and decide to wear a red crop top my leather jacket and some high wasted black jeans with a pair of timberlands I throw my hair up into a messy bun add a touch of fire engine red lipstick. I take my phone before I leave the room when I look on the screen I have a heap of txts and missed calls from both Destin and Colton
