Chapter Forty Seven

Knox's POV

The pack council chamber is heavy with silence. A meeting that was supposed to be held in the morning was postponed until now.

I stand before five elders seated in a semicircle, their old faces showing nothing but cold disapproval. My father sits at the center, his expression unreadable, but I can feel his disappointment radiating across the space.

“Future Alpha,” Elder Marcus speaks first. His voice comes out rough and low, worn down by the years. “You were given a clear directive to either find your fated mate or choose a suitable partner. Where's she?”

My jaw clenches hard. “I'm still searching.”

“Searching?” Elder Ingrid, a woman with silver hair pulled back severely, leans forward. “The Moon Goddess doesn't require searching, boy. When you meet your mate, you know instantly.”

“Unless,” Elder Marcus adds, his eyes narrowing. “You've already found her and are refusing to claim her for some reason.”
