Chapter 2

BENEDICT'S POV

I coursed through the forest, using the light of the moon as a guide. Luther's men were closing in on me and I was too weak to fight back, I had to resort to the best weapon– my legs.

They were everywhere in the air and it would be almost impossible to bypass them not in my weakened state, knowing the guards were under the decree of Alpha Luther, they wouldn't stop not until they captured me.

I scanned the forest as I ran, frantically looking for a place I could shift. My wolf Perry had fought tirelessly. I needed to give him a break.

I groaned as I felt a sharp pain at the back of my shoulders. I staggered as my vision blurred, "Shit…son of a bitch!" I cursed, as my legs suddenly became stiff.

The effect of whatever they had shot into me was slowly wearing me out. It wasn't Wolf bane which had the potency to make my senses go haywire for a good five minutes.

I reached for my back and touched the arrow that was embedded into my muscles. I growled angrily and turned around to face the guard– his physique was about five foot tall

I growled louder and my wolf Perry threatened to break out. Heavily armed with poisonous bows, the guards were ready to fire all into me. I smirked, of course the bastard Luther would do anything to bring me down.

The guard wanted to fire but I was swift enough to dodge his arrows and charge angrily at him. I gripped him by the neck till his feet were dangling in the air.

"How dare you?" I questioned through pain and gritted teeth. My hands were becoming shaky and I barely struggled to keep my stance.

"I-I-I…" he stuttered, coughing and struggling to get off my tight grip.

"Speak!" I growled.

"Al- Al…" I angrily flung him across the forest. Time was of the essence and I was running out of it.

“How dare that coward!”

"What exactly does he want?" I said when I reached the tree the guard had crashed into. I quickly disarmed him before he could make any sly move.

He'd be dead meat if he does something stupid.

The guard groaned, writhing in severe pains. I grabbed his head that was dripping with blood and he cried out in pains.

A smirk broke through the corner of my lips. This was only a little preamble to the torture he'd experience if he didn't give me the information I needed.

"Are you going to speak now?" I drawled, half the time holding myself from ripping his heart out of his rib cage.

He nodded frantically, his face distorted from the hit he'd just experienced. "Alpha Luther…" he coughed and spat out blood "You're on his radar and of the moomicrant. He'd stop at nothing to get you," he looked around pointing to the trees, "They're everywhere, his men are lurking around the branches, they're coming for you," he eyed me and chuckled, "And by the goddess they would get you and when they do, your carcass would–"

I didn't let him finish his statement before I drew out my dagger and slit his throat. "And by the goddess I'd squash all of them," I gritted, cleaning my dagger dripping with blood on his clothes.

Of course, Luther would send his finest and strongest guards to haunt me down. He had always seen me as a threat to him and I swore by the goddess to be his greatest nightmare he wouldn't wake up from…alive.

I reached for my duffel and pulled out a bottle of liquor. I had to get the arrow buried into me. I was losing blood and my vision was becoming blurry. The human world was not a good idea to crash. They'd hunt me down even before Luther and his men caught up with me.

"Argh!" My eyes widened in pain as I felt another poisonous arrow shot on my back. I heard approaching footsteps in the dark, I was too weak to fight back and shifting to my wolf form in this state would weaken Perry's abilities.

One of the men walked towards me. His eyes glistened with anger as he looked at his counterpart's lifeless body. He lunged at me and punched me in the face, I staggered to my feet. My body went numb, my muscles suddenly became too stiff and I couldn't fight back.

I sighed heavily, my breath ragged. Perry howling deep in the core of my being. I couldn't risk fighting in my wolf's form in this state.

"Tie him up, Luther wants him alive," One of the men said in words that sounded inaudible. "The Panel would decide what to–" his voice drawled as my vision blurred and I slipped into oblivion before he finished his statement.

I slowly opened my eyes to a dark room whose only source of light was an opening that served as window at the corner of the room. My legs felt heavy and…I tried to stand but the weight on my legs pulled me back– bastard! I'd been chained. "Raving bastards!" I cursed when I remembered the previous night.

The pain from the injury was excruciating even though the arrow had been taken out. A nerve pulsed in my forehead as I heard approaching footsteps, I gripped the iron bars and stood up. I squinted my eyes to make out the figures standing in front of the prison.

"I see the Almighty Benedict is awake," one of the guards I'd recognized from last night said with a scornful smirk. I clenched my jaw, holding myself back from ripping him apart. I had other business to attend to, a little armed turd was the least of my problems.

He gestured to the two other guards to bring me out. Even in my weakened state I'd still effortlessly take them out, with a little help from my wolf who had been dangerously quiet since I became conscious.

I was led in heavy chains through the hallway to the throne room– a large room, painted gray adorned with wolf statues on either side of the room, a sculpture of what could pass as the moon goddess stood beside Luther's throne.

"Alas!" Luther gestured with his hands. He was a large bulky man in his late twenties, jet black hair that fell across his shoulders, a scar that transcended across his left eyebrows that crinkled when he laughed.

"Such a shame that you were brought to the Moomicrant in this state," I tried to control the anger that threatened to burst from the vile undertone in his voice. "You, who think of himself as the people's savior,"

Point of correction; “I was”

That was his anger– that I'd fought and killed two evil Alpha's before him, it unnerved him beyond words. I clamped my mouth shut. He was a lost course, drowned in the facade of the powers he thought he possessed, power's that would be taken from him sooner than he'd expect.

Alpha Luther glanced at the other men. Five in number who sat across the room, "I would leave his fate to you,"

When in fact he'd decided it already.

"There's no point beating around the bush. He's a threat to us and does not deserve to be spared else–" His voice faltered as my gaze lingered on him. If stares could kill, he'd be six feet below ground level by now.

I turned my eyes to Luther and our gazes locked. "You've been charged with treason and you must pay for it,"

There was a long pause.

I growled under my breath as Alpha Luther stared at me. All the while, I was busy trying not to lunge at him. The bastard was even crueler than the other two I had slain.

Alpha Luther squared his shoulders. "He would be injected with a poisonous substance." He looked around the other men and leaned forward with a snarl, "It'll be a waste of torture to slain him. He would be casted into the forest after that." He said with a tone of finality.
