Chapter 100

Mira’s POV

The walls here were pure obsidian and iron, darker than midnight and twice as unforgiving. The second I crossed that threshold, those massive doors slammed so hard behind me, the torches flickered. Blood clung to my skin. Not fresh, but definitely there.

God, I hate failing. It doesn't matter how many times I tell myself to toughen up, it sits on me like a curse every single damn time.

And Dominic? That bastard survived.

I had run through every possible outcome, made my peace with pretty much all of them... except that one. He was weak, barely hanging on, reeking of death and desperation. In my mind, he had already died. But nope. He just had to ruin it. Not only did he make it, but he looked at me like I was something to pity.

That stung more than losing the fortress. More than all the blood. That look set my nerves on fire.

I ripped my gauntlets off and hurled them at the war table. They crashed down, scattering my carefully arranged troops like cheap toys. The soldiers lining the room stiffened up, eyes wide, probably praying I wouldn’t notice them next.

“Out,” I snapped.

They ghosted out of there so fast, I almost laughed. Almost.

Silence.

Just me and the angry thud of my heartbeat. I inhaled and tried to steady myself until I could finally breathe normally again.

Then the door creaked open, and my father’s voice rang out in all cold amusement. “Heard you lost the fortress,” he said.

Didn’t bother turning around. “Heard wrong,” I shot back. “I gave it to them.”

He laughed. “Retreat’s got a new name, huh?”

I turned, slow and deliberate. “It was a test. They passed. Now I know exactly what they can do.”

He raised an eyebrow, really dramatic. “You sound like your mother.”

Ah, there it was. The old wound. But you know what? It didn’t even hurt anymore.

“Maybe that’s not the worst thing,” I said.

He walked round the table, silver hair shining, looking every inch the arrogant Alpha. “Your mother was a dreamer. Prophecy, bloodlines, fate... she ate that stuff up. But you? You’re chaos. Dangerous. Stupid.”

“Stupid?” My voice shot up, pissed. “Because I won’t play with a puppet?”

He grinned, sharp as a knife. “Because you think revenge is the same as a plan.”

The wolf inside me snarled. “Dominic took everything. He broke the bond. Humiliated me. If all I’ve got left is vengeance, I’ll wear it like a crown.”

His eyes glittered. “You can’t break a guy like Dominic by charging at him. He’s built for war. You wanna destroy him? Go for what makes him human.”

That stopped me for a second.

I leaned on the table, trying to slow my pulse. “Elora,” I muttered.

He didn’t answer, but he didn’t need to.

A slow, ugly smile crept across my face. “You think I haven’t considered that?”

He studied me, squinting his eyes. “You’re closer to the edge than I thought. Makes me wonder, just how far are you willing to go before even I have to stop you?”

I stared at him down. “Further than you ever did.”

Turned away then, before he could see anything soft or broken in my expression. Not that there was much left. Whatever used to burn between me and Dominic... that bond... it was gone. Replaced by something cold. Something means.

Not love... not by a long shot. Whatever it was, it was darker. A twisted echo of what should’ve been, poisoned by betrayal.

But it was still there. Still enough to make me want to watch him bleed.

I crossed the room and pulled open a drawer. There it was... a crescent-shaped silver pendant, stolen ages ago from the Crescent Moon pack. I held it up and felt the old magic humming.

“Call in the Night Blades,” I said, voice low.

My father cocked his head. “The assassins? For a skirmish?”

“This isn’t about winning,” I told him. “It’s about breaking them.”

He folded his arms. “Let’s hear it.”

I set the pendant down right on Crescent Moon territory. “Dante and Elora, they’re Dominic’s heart now. Take them out, I don’t need to storm his gates. He’ll implode.”

He just stared at me for a long time. “You’re playing a dangerous game.”

I already knew that.

“I’m done playing,” I said, grinning. “The game's over. I’m finishing this.”

He edged closer, his voice quieter. “And when they strike back? When Dominic tries to take your head off again?”

I stared at him down, my eyes determined. “Then let him come. This time, I’ll make sure he’s got something to lose, too.”

Magnus let out a laugh. “You really are your mother’s kid, huh?”

He turned and disappeared down the corridor, boots thudding against the stone.

The second the door clicked shut, all that cool control I’d worn like armor just… slipped. My hands were shaking, not from fear, hell no, but from trying to hold myself back. The wolf inside me? She wanted blood. My stupid heart? I wanted something it couldn’t even name.

Dominic’s face flashed through my head, the look he gave me up on that ridge. Pure rage. Shock. And, yeah, that's gross, quite a pity.

That’s what really made me want to burn the world down.

My fist came down on the table, hard enough to split the thing.

“Send word,” I snarled at the shadow lurking in the corner, the scout who was basically a ghost, but deadlier. “Find the Crescent warriors. Hit them when their guard’s down.”

The shadow dipped its head. “A siege?”

“No,” I said, and my voice went all soft and dangerous. “No sieges. No big battles. Leave their walls standing. I want their hearts gutted.”

A pause. The shadow hesitated. “How?”

“Take what they love,” I breathed. “Let them keep breathing.”

That was enough. The scout just melted into the darkness, no sound, just gone.

Alone again, I crossed to the mirror on the wall. My reflection stared back at me, eyes burning with rage and my mouth twisted in a grin and a growl.

I pressed my fingers to the glass. Cool, almost humming under my touch.

“You really think you can just forget me, Dominic?” I whispered. “Go fall for someone else and pretend none of this ever happened?”

The mirror shimmered, just a little. Like I wanted to answer.

I smirked.

“Go on, then,” I said, voice low. “Watch me remind you what losing everything actually feels like.”

Outside, thunder rolled. The storm wasn’t coming for land or some pointless piece of territory.

It was coming for hearts.

For payback.

For me.

Dominic’s POV I stared at Elora. She is the real Luna of this pack. She was always so ready to do things for the pack. She has gone through a lot for this pack. My mind rolled back to when we were little and she would always say things she would do for the promise she would become Luna. I always laughed, and to him, he rages and makes a great Luna. Although I never believed it then, I just said comfort to her. But look at her now... the only thing different here is that she is married to me instead of Dante. She loves Dante much more than she loves me, that I could tell, but the bond was stronger. I love her too, but my brother and I can possibly share her because of the love and the bond between the three of us. Elora would be our Luna, She would be both our wife, and Luna. This was the only thing I would do for my brother and her. I made my brother my Co Alpha so we can both be with Elora. The full moon climbed above us, old and bright, a silver coin tossed into midnight velv

Elora’s POVThey used to say peace came quietly. But honestly, it never crashed in like a battle or scorched like heartbreak. It just slipped in, soft as dawn, slow and gentle, so easy to miss until, one morning, you noticed the birds were singing again. The Crescent Moon was finally mending. The smoke stopped rising from the broken borders. Laughter started to echo where pain and crying used to fill the air, real laughter, the kind that wraps around you and promises things will get better. And me? I wasn’t sitting on a throne or standing next to any Alpha. I was right there in the middle of it all, with my people. Most mornings, I went to do my Luna duties. I help rebuild broken homes, paint houses, and make sure the children and adults are being treated well in the healer's chambers. I took care of nursing mothers and made sure there were enough supplies to last for the day. Nobody was left unattended. The young warriors still in training often trailed after me while I inspected the

Dante’s POVHaving Elora fully back was something that lifted a happy mood in me. Although I didn't like the fact that we both had to share her, and I am not sure how, there was nothing I could do. I only wanted her to live and that was enough for me. I didn't want to be greedy. When Dominic sank his fang into her neck, I felt something in me snap. It was like him touching something that was not his in the first place. But he is my brother and there was nothing I could do. He was the Alpha and Elora was his wife. Even if she were my mate, I couldn't possibly stop her husband from trying to save her life. After we were done reconnecting, I left for my room to freshen up and catch a little sleep that I've been missing for quite some days. I was sure Elora was fully recovered now and would not slip in and out of consciousness anymore. Immediately, my head hit the bed after my cold shower, and I drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a long day, and I needed to be clear-headed

Elora’s POV I stared at the empty space within me with the moon goddess's voice echoing around me. She seemed to be humming a song. Everywhere felt so peaceful and I wished I could stay here for a little while. Back in the real world, I didn't want to take part in a lot of evil. I felt a sudden jerk and jumped."What is that?" I asked the moon goddess."You are being called back to life. It looks like your time with me has ended," She said, her voice soft."But I don't want to go just yet. At least not until everything is settled between the two brothers," I argued."Elora. This isn't about you. Your devotion to the pack is what has kept the brothers alive. If you don't go back to them, I'm afraid of the outcome," I shook my head violently. This isn't happening"Then at least tell me who I am going to choose," I pleaded."They are both yours..."Before I could make out what she had meant, I felt my body being pulled back as I tried to resist. When I opened my eyes, the air felt of

Dominic’s POVElora’s breathing was shallow. Each breath she took gave me a scare. It felt like forever, and my heart raced so hard. Her skin was really pale, and the mark Dante left was disappearing fast.“No,” Dante choked out, shaking her. “No, no, stay with me—Elora, please!”The healer’s hands trembled over her herbs and glowing bottles. She couldn’t pick one, couldn’t commit. Her voice cracked. “Her energy’s fading… her spirit’s slipping!” Her eyes darted to me, wide and scared. “If one bond won’t hold, let it pass through both. Bite her, Alpha.”I froze.Me? Bite her?I looked down. Elora’s lips parted, her face too still. I forced myself to breathe and met Dante’s eyes. He looked as if he would snap. “Don’t touch her,” he snapped. “She’s mine.”The healer’s voice cut through everything, sharp and furious. “You fool! If she dies, she’s no one’s!”Dante’s jaw clenched. That anger washed away, replaced by fear. His eyes flicked to mine. He swallowed, then nodded, slow and stiff

Elora’s POVMy chest squeezes up tight, first that low, annoying ache, then bam, it’s like a fist yanks the air right out of my lungs. I open my mouth to say I’m fine, but nope, the words just... melt. The room spins and goes all watercolor blurry.“Elora?” Dante’s voice, all echoey and weird, comes at me from somewhere underwater. Then the universe just flips sideways. The floor's gone. I’m weightless, but someone’s arms are strong; catch me before I faceplant. My head lolls back. I hear Dominic yelling for the healer, but his voice is just noise, buried under this ringing that’s taken over my brain.“Elora, look at me!” Dante’s voice cracks, desperate. He grabs for my wrist, checking for a pulse. I catch a glimpse of his eyes, those ridiculous golden eyes that always made me feel safe, they’re wide with panic now.“I can’t... she’s not...” the healer stammers, and honestly, that’s not what you want to hear right now.Everything dissolves into chaos. Hands everywhere, pressing cold c
