Ch4: Does she even know that you are not human?

"Okay," she nodded her head. All she had to do was wait for him. She knew he would come back.

On top of the phone, he left his laptop too. And the girl knew she would not be bored.

Deagan kissed her cheeks and closed the door before he left. He actually locked her in there.

"Look over the house. She has to be safe," Deagan said to his assistant before he got into his car and left.

There were so many things going through his head. And he was not sure of how they all were going to turn out.

...

Half an hour later, Deagan parked his car in some place that looked like a palace.

Oh, it really was one. But a palace that only people of his caliber knew of. To every other normal person, they would never believe that such a place existed.

Once he stepped out, everyone around bowed.

There was a "My prince" here, and "my prince" there.

But he did not bother about them. All he cared about was one thing now.

He took steady steps towards the main chambers, where the king would be.

"The crown prince has arrived," the guard at the door announced.

And Deagan walked past him towards the chambers. He bowed at the presence of the man seated at the thrown. "My king," he said.

"We have to talk," the king said, pointing towards the seat opposite him. "That belongs to you."

Yeah, that was a seat only meant for the prince, and no one else. And it had been empty the last fifteen years, since Deagan left the palace.

But Deagan shook his head. "Father, I am listening now," he said with a bow.

The king sighed. He never knew why the man never wanted to take a seat.

"Okay, I will go right to the point," the king said. " Where is the girl?" He asked.

Deagan looked away. That was his biggest fear. He did not want anyone in this place to mention her. That was because it was like trouble was being called.

"I see," the man said. " You prefer protecting her to your cousin brother?"

Deagan remained silent again. He just did not want to talk about her with anybody else.

"Deagan, you are the crown prince. You are the next king of the werewolves. Can't you be a little obedient?" The king asked.

That was when Deagan looked up at him. "Father, I have listened to you the past one year," he said.

"What about the girl? I asked you to keep your distance from that family! You cannot associate with them since you are going to be the next king!"

Deagan swallowed hard. "My king, that is the family that I grew in. Malden protected me when you could not. I have called him dad since I was thirteen, remember?"

"Enough!" The king banged the table angrily. " He protected you yes! But have you not helped him enough? He is an outcast after all. He rebelled against our kingdom. Cut all ties with him and his daughter!"

Deagan looked away. He knew there was no point in talking about such things. He was going to follow his own heart.

"You love that girl, right?" The king questioned. "That is the reason you keep postponing your marriage to Tecla?"

And Deagan froze when he heard that. He should have known that the king was wiser.

But still, he shook his head. " She is just the little sister I have grown up with."

"Mmh," the king nodded. " You have to tell her now that you are engaged. And that early next year, you are going to get married. By the time you are thirty, you are supposed to have an heir, and take over the kingdom!"

Deagan was silent. The thought of those words made him clench his fist. But he tried to calm himself down.

"Did you hear what I just said? I can help you tell her if you do not know how to do it," the king said. "I know I failed in bringing you up, but I did that to keep you safe!"

"There is no need to tell her," Deagan said at last. And he did not need anyone to help him in talking to her.

"Yes?" The king asked with raised brows. "Does she even know that you are not human?"

Deagan's eyes turned blood shot when he was told that. Yes, she did not know. And it was not yet time for her to know.

"Deagan, my son," the king called. "Just inform her and get done with this as soon as possible. I want you to be happy, but there are rules to this kingdom."

Deagan was silent. That was the reason he hated everything about that. He wanted to live his life normally. He wanted to be with those people that he loved!

Had it not been for his mom's last wish, he would never have come back to this place. It was hateful for him.

"Deagan? What is so great about that girl? Tecla is a great girl too. She was always your best when you were young. She is your meant mate!" The king said. "Maybe I should 'your little sister' personally and know what she is like?"

"No!" Deagan shook his head. "Let me handle things my own way. The results will be the same."

The king observed his son for some time. "I hope that you know what you are doing. Remember your mom's only wish. And know what we have with half humans. She cannot influence you son!"

"I know," Deagan nodded his head. He did not like it when his mom was being mentioned. But he knew that not all half humans were bad.

To him, Sunna was a harmless little bring he would like to tame his whole life. He just did not want to mention it to anyone.

"She is in your house now, I suppose?" King Alfrond asked his son.

But it seemed like the prince did not want to answer the question.
