SIMON’S POV

Hazel and I had unfinished business. Rest assured, it wasn’t anything shady, just unresolved tension after I rejected her confession five years ago, and her sudden disappearance ever since.

I was drunk. Fuck! And I messed up.

I wasn’t supposed to reject her in such a cruel way, but things happen and so did it happen.

When I woke up the following day and all the memories from the previous night came flooding back in handy, I wasted not as much as a second in rushing down to my father’s house, where I knew Hazel would always be.

On my way there, I had pictured what state she’d be in; heartbroken, shattered, dull.

But the least I expected was not meeting or seeing her anywhere.

For the first time in years, it awoke something or rather made something alive in me, dead.

“Piper,” I called, racing down the stairs in two steps, my eyes on my stepmother, who was busy with some telenovela series.

She ignored my call, but I could see she was afraid of me and my presence because when I drew closer, her shoulders tensed and her eyes moved inconsistently in their sockets.

I walked into the sitting room and stood in front of her, my broad shoulders blocking her view of the TV.

If only this woman knew how important it was for me to know the whereabouts of my stepsister, who disappeared after my rejection.

It wasn’t like I would’ve accepted her feelings for me. Hell! We are step siblings and related by marriage if not blood.

I loved Hosanna, my wife. The mother of Aurora and we were married, but why did I feel something missing inside of me as soon as I pushed the door to Hazel’s door open and was met with an empty room?

“What do you want from me ?” Piper stuttered, her eyes everywhere but on me.

“Where is Hazel?” I grind out, my voice rumbled out of my chest, even more than I expected it would.

“She left.”

Those two words were what Piper blurted out before she left the sitting room.

She left? To where? I had no idea.

I tried searching for her using my most intelligent hacker, Amos, but my stepsister did well by hiding herself where I or anyone else wouldn’t find her.

Fortunately for me and the whole world in general, my dad died and she returned for his funeral.

I shouldn’t feel even the slightest bit of happiness or aliveness within me when my dad died, but I did and I wasn’t a bit remorseful or regretful.

Hazel was back to Ireland after five years, and I wasn’t going to watch her leave just as she did five years ago.

Hazel remains in Ireland. With me, Simon Veneti, her stepbrother.

I’ve done things I wouldn’t do in my right state of mind. Things like coercing Piper indirectly to sell my father’s house and run far away with the money, so Hazel would be left stranded with no option.

‘Never say there’s no option because there’s always one.’ A smirk tugged at my lips at the thought of Hazel living with my and my daughter, Aurora in my empire.

It’d be so fucking good.

……….

“How am I expected to know the rules when no one told me about them?” Hazel muttered, stabbing the steak in front of her.

“I just said them and unless you’ve gone deaf, then you won’t have heard.” I replied, even before she could spit out her last word.

“I know you’re a challenging type. You hate to lose. Not to me or anyone else, but you’ve become even worse than I expected.” She shook her head, her lips slightly raised into a scoff.

“I never thought my stepsister who left five years ago without so much as a goodbye had expectations of me.”

As soon as those words got out of my mouth, her head jerked up and she threw a glare my way. Her hold on the fork tightened and for a second I thought the fork would smash into pieces, but it didn’t. Fortunately.

“Dad, why are you picking a fight with Aunt Hazel?” Aurora’s tiny voice cut through the air and immediately, we both stopped bickering at each other and turned to Aurora, plastering the widest smile we could muster.

“Darling, I wasn’t picking a fight with your Aunt,” I started, stretching my long hands towards her plate and helping her cut her steak into smaller sizes, which seemed to be the reason why she was listening to our bickering.

Aurora was finding it hard in cutting the steak to her desire, so as a frustrated five years old kid, she had no option other than to listen to the adults as they bickered amongst themselves.

And from what she has heard so far, she concluded I was picking a fight with Hazel.

Hazel, a cunny fox, bent down a little until she was on equal height with Aurora and whispered into my daughter’s ear. “Aurora, tell your dad to be nice to his sister who just arrived a few hours ago.”

She was trying to make Aurora her teammate, so they could both gang up against me.

“Dad,” Aurora drawled, glaring at me under her long lashes.

My daughter, I would gladly announce, is an epitome of beauty and I never for a second regret having her with Hosanna, her mother. “Be nice to Aunt Hazel, or she might leave our home soon and I wouldn’t want that.”

Aurora was getting attached to Hazel already. I guess she missed a motherly figure in her life.

“I’m not leaving, Aurora,” Hazel grazed her knuckles on Aurora’s chubby cheeks, staring at my daughter as if she were the most important person to her. The way a mother would look at her baby. “At least not for now.”

My hands tightened around the cutlery at her latter words and I swear, I almost snapped them into pieces.

I wasn’t going to let her leave. It might be petty and cheap of me, but I’d do everything and anything within my powers to make sure Hazel stays in Ireland with me. Even if it went against her wish.

  • Forbidden Attraction: Twisted Into A Sinner   Chapter 8

HAZEL’S POVIt’s been a week since I came into Simon’s home and I could count the number of times we’ve spoken to each other and I bet those conversations were either bickering, exchanging of words or silence.Neither of us made mention of anything from the past. Anything pertaining to what happened between us five years ago.The confession. The rejection. Running away like a coward.I felt it’d ruin the moment if I made mention of it, but with each passing day and the growing of feelings for this man, it won’t be long until we get back to the past. This time, it’d be more brutal and the heartbreak will be ten times more hurtful than the one from five years ago.The feelings I thought had died when I left Ireland for California five years ago, were awakened and this time, with dangerous, sinful thoughts.Thoughts like what I’m starting to have when I was told by Mrs Delilah to go inform Simon about his daughter’s need.It all started in a way which I thought was simple, but when it en

HAZEL’S POVIt has been two days since I came into Simon’s home and in those two days, I’ve bonded with Aurora even more than I thought I would. She’s a sweet little princess that makes my heart flutter with her giggles, laughs and pouts.Everything around here seemed good, except for the fact that I haven’t seen or heard anything from Simon’s wife, Hosanna.Though I didn’t ask anyone, as it might sound inappropriate prying into their family’s privacy, I couldn’t help but be curious. Not my fault though, blame it on my curiosity like that of an orange colored cat. After the dinner where I and Simon ended up bickering amongst each other, I haven’t seen him ever since. Each time I asked Overa about his whereabouts, her replies were always clipped. It was almost as if I was forcing her to reply.“Aurora, I can’t make Dutch braids. Wait until your dad gets you a special hairstylist.” I could hear Overa’s frustrated and strained voice as I made my way downstairs after taking my bath.It wa

HAZEL’S POVI didn’t know what to make up for the smirk I saw stretched on Simon’s lips or maybe I was overthinking the whole facial expression.I was exhausted from the day’s activities, clearly and my stomach has been rumbling for God’s know how long, loudly. So it wouldn’t be weird to think I was now seeing things. My cheeks heated at the thought of those lips of his all over my body and it took sheer willpower to look away from his handsome face.Hazel, you’re so done for.The maid led me upstairs to the spare room, as said by my stepbrother and upon reaching the said room, I could swear it was everything other than a spare room.Hell, the room was a lot bigger than my room back at my stepfather’s mansion and also twice bigger than my room back in California.“Here is your room, Miss…”The maid’s voice trailed off, as she tried to have a grasp of my name again.I never thought the name ‘Hazel’ would be easy to forget, but I guess not everyone could remember it that easily.“Hazel.”

  • Forbidden Attraction: Twisted Into A Sinner   Chapter 4

HAZEL'S POVAfter the funeral, I went straight to Annika's, but my brief encounter with Simon made me restless. His eyes still haunted me, his voice even. Over the last five years, I never thought my heart would still skip a beat at the sight of him. Without knocking, I pushed Annika’s door ajar. All I wanted to do was to hit the bed and cry myself to sleep, but never in my wildest dream did I imagine meeting Annika on top of a man—naked. My cheeks heated up as words flowed out of my lips. “I'm…. I'm so sorry.” I stuttered, clutching my black bag, and in less than a second, I was dashing outside with Annika's footsteps echoing in my ears. “Slow down, Hazel.” She grabbed my wrist before I got to hold the doorknob. “You can stay. You don't have to leave.” “I have to.” I chuckled, embarrassment flaming up my cheeks. Annika would never tell me to leave, but I didn't want to be a burden either. She'd want to spend some quality time with her boyfriend, I shouldn't be the third wheel. “

  • Forbidden Attraction: Twisted Into A Sinner   Chapter 3

HAZEL'S POV I couldn't stay back even for a second. Mom already defiled this house which was once known as a home and I couldn't bare to stay for a minute.Turning around with my luggage, I left the house, flagged a cab and headed to the one place I knew of, Annika’s place.Annika and I have been friends for a long time since we were in middle school. We graduated high school together but weren't privileged to go to the same college as I had to relocate to California to study there.Though we've been keeping in touch once in a while, but I wonder if she would let me pass the night at her place until I would be able to get an apartment for myself, here in Ireland.Grabbing my phone from my bag, I scrolled through my contact and dialled her line. She picked up after the third ring, her cheerful voice brought a smile to my weary face. “Hey bestie, how are you?”“I'm fine Annika. I'm in Ireland already.” Caught by surprise, she was speechless for some seconds and when she found her voic
