Liam was still nursing his wound and brooding over the fact that his father hadn't suffered any injuries, unlike him.
“Be careful!” He shouted at the maid, kicking her away.
She fell with a soft cry.
Ariana who was sitting and watching all this time, angry at the fact that Liam has gotten into a fight with his father over a hybrid, stood up and walked to him.
“If you weren't acting senselessly, you wouldn't be injured in the first place.”
She dismissed the maid and grabbed the cleaning kit. “You ought to feel the pain.”
Liam growled softly. “He charged at me,” he declared. “What was I supposed to do? Let him tear me to pieces?”
Ariana contained her annoyance. Pa Frey has told her that was the only way of ensuring her union with Liam. But she seethed with a stormy rage. It wasn't enough that two powerful wolves were getting entangled with a hybrid, they were fighting to death over her
She dug the cloth into the hot water maliciously and slapped the hot cloth on his arms where a bone had dislocated. Liam mumbled his scream and tightened his jaw.
“That's enough,” he said, pulling the hot cloth away. “I'm fine.”
Ariana rolled her eyes and tossed the cloth into the basin.
“Shouldn't you be talking about our wedding?” She asked, facing him.
Liam didn't want to hear any of it. Firstly, he didn't remember marking her. He had been drunk that night and he had thought she was Abigail. And, he wasn't really interested in Ariana. Abigail was the one he wanted.
“I need to rest,” he said. “I've got a headache.”
He fell on the bed, occupying enough space to discourage Ariana from coming to join him. But she threw her body over him. He had no choice than to move away.
“I'm your mate,” Ariana said, angry at what he did.
“I have a headache and my body hurts,” Liam excused.
“You should have respected yourself,” she muttered to herself but Liam heard her. Not ready for a conversation with her, he ignored her remark and grabbed his phone. He was scrolling through Social Space when he saw that his mother was trending.
Liam hadn't seen her in a while. She was an outcast to him. He was mad that she left when he was young all because she wanted an open relationship. He was usually not concerned with whatever she did but her name and Ethan's name in a sentence caught his attention.
“What the fuck!”
Ariana flipped over to his side. “What's it?”
“Fuck!” He sat up and flung the phone
Ariana's eyes caught the headline.
“Your mum is back to your father?”
Liam hissed. “He's not my father! And don't you ever call her my mother.”
He stood up
Ariana was not pleased with Bianca appearing in the picture. She smelled Pa Frey's hand in it. But if she was now pregnant and they were together, Liam would have an easy access to returning to the hybrid.
“This is all fucking insane!”
Liam remembered what it felt like going to school after the news that his mother had left his father
“Hey, we heard your mum prefers another cock to your dad's.”
Even though they were the most powerful pack, the other pack kids found a way to ridicule him. And suddenly, they were back together and even a kid?
Ariana thought it was in her best interest to let him know who was spinning the web. She was the snitch. But it was in her best interest. Didn't Pa Frey tell her to do everything possible.
“If you should know,” she started. “Pa Frey is the one orchestrating the reunion.”
Liam flashed angry eyes at her. “What's he doing?”
She shrugged. “The Alpha is going mad —forgive me but he's mad. He's chasing a hybrid young enough to be his daughter. It's a poor reputation for the pack…”
Of course. Liam nodded. It was always about the pack for Pa Frey. He had no heart.
“How did she end up pregnant?” He asked
He couldn't believe his father was fighting over Abby and fucking his mother. What sort of sick man was he?
“How should I know? I don't live with them.”
“I'll get to the root of this, I swear it!’
He stormed out of the room and marched straight to Pa Frey's room. Pa Frey was just getting ready to sleep when he heard the sharp knock on his door followed by an unpermitted entrance.
“Whatever you want can wait until tomorrow,” he said when he saw Liam.
Liam was way too furious to sleep over it.
“Why are you doing it?” He demanded.
Pa Frey faced him. “Doing what, Liam? Sleeping?”
“You set Bianca and Ethan up didn't you?’
Pa Frey was surprised at Liam's outright rudeness. “They're your parents. Show some respect!” He barked at him.
“I want nothing to do with them!” Liam shot.
Pa Frey sighed and claimed the bed. “Then you shouldn't be bothered about their affairs.”
“Whatever you're doing, you have to stop it. I'm getting sick of all these dramas.”
Pa Frey rested his head against the pillow. “You started this drama when you secretly dated that hybrid. Didn't you know she was only getting close to you so she could get to Ethan?”
Liam fisted his hand. “I will never support it.”
“You don't have to,” pa Frey said with a smile. “Goodnight, son. You should sleep well. You have a wedding to prepare for.”
“I'm not marrying Ariana no matter how many days she sleeps in my room,” Liam stated.
“That doesn't matter, Liam. What matters is you've marked her.”
Liam knew there was no point arguing with the old man. He was orchestrating everything and making them bow to his whims.
But Abigail was his and he was going to get her back
He stormed out of the room, and the moment he saw his phone screen, he halted.
Daven had posted. It had been a while since he shared his life on their school's social space. But it wasn't his post that caught his attention, it was who sat with him. Even though her hair was in curls and down, and although she was dressed in a dress he didn't know, he knew it was Abigail.
Why was she on a date with Daven?
Another post dropped. A caption.
Liam read it.
He knew Daven to be a cassanova, and now that he was back, he wasn't going to let him near Abigail.
Ethan took Abigail's hand.“I really want to show you in every way that you're my choice,” he said. “So, I'll stay with you tonight.”“And tomorrow?” She asked, teasingly. “Every other night…till forever.”It felt good hearing that. Ethan figured he would deal with Bianca's problem by morning of the next day. He was so sure that she wasn't pregnant and after the test result had confirmed that, his would send her away, a mistake he wouldn't make again. He pulled her to himself, just to taste the sweetness of her lips. “I've missed doing this,” he confessed. “I've missed your laughs. You have no idea.”Abigail slapped his chest with mock annoyance. “You left me all alone.”He wrapped her with his arms. “I'm sorry, my pigeon.”“Pigeon.”“‘cause you're cute and smallish.”Abigail smiled. “It was you, wasn't it? The person who did my job.”“Stayed all night for you.”Her smile widened. Then she raised her head. “Oh my gosh! It was you. You sent me that money.”Ethan didn't affirm but hi
Bianca's heart had been racing erratically ever since Ethan requested for a proof of pregnancy, and worse, Alex, his over keen assistant was right there with her to ensure she didn't doctor the result. She sat there, hoping for an escape. If Ethan found out that her pregnancy claim was a lie, he would be mad at her deception and lock her out. She played with her fingers nervously while Alex sat there, waiting for her to go in. He had received clear instructions from his boss to follow through the process. And seeing how nervous she was, he knew she was hiding something. But for the life of him, he would never understand why his boss had decided to go back to his ex wife. Alpha Ethan had been barely alive until he found Abigail. He had seen how much he changed and he didn't care about the age difference. And the past few days without her had been torturous for him.He could never understand Alpha Ethan.“Why are you here anyway?” Bianca barked at him. “Isn't Ethan coming?”She was des
Ethan held her hand and moved dangerously close to her. She felt his warm breath against her ears. It spoke of burning desires, a call that awakened hers. But Abigail wanted so badly to resist, yet, she wanted more badly to give in, to forget about everything even for the moment and fall into the arms of the man she was still obviously in love with. “Why are you doing this to me —to us?” Ethan's voice, laced with deep desire, croaked into her ear.She shut her eyes and held her breath. With him so close, it was difficult to decide, to remain angry, or to say no.She moaned with need. Even her body couldn't deny that she missed him, and more than ever, she wanted him, yet there and now.Ethan took cue from her moan and found her lips. They crashed into each other, each touch, a reminder of the passion they ignited in one another and a testament that they were meant for each other. Abigail didn't remember Bianca and her pregnancy and Ethan didn't think of Daven and what relationship h
It was too late for regrets, Abigail knew that. So she didn't apologise. She glared at him like how she wished she could glare at every wolf who had called her a hybrid or looked down on her. He was bearing the brunt because he couldn't mind his business.Despite the gravity of her words and the way it made him feel initially, Daven realised he wasn't really mad. It soothed him, strangely.Wasn't it the truth?Besides, he had never had never had anyone speak to him that way. Even abroad, the ladies always kept their thoughts to themselves because of what they could gain from him. And back here, he was the Alpha's son.“You insulted me first,” Abigail declared. “Do you not realise it? You don't respect my decision because I am a hybrid.”Daven nodded. She was right. He had overstepped. He started the car and took the opposite lane, returning back to the office. Abigail didn't want this ride home. She didn't want to be in the space of someone who constantly ridiculed her existence. Wa
It was a relief to Abigail. For one, she had thought she had been set up. And she really needed a new card after Daven rudely broke hers. She was actually on her last cent and she knew how excruciatingly difficult it was to get a card at the bank.Well, unless your blood screamed pure wolf. She could afford to frown now.“You made me beg for nothing.”It was infuriating being around someone who enjoyed making fun of others. But for now, Abigail kept her cool. She needed him to help her sort her card issues. After then, she would tell him to stay the hell away from her. She wasn't a hybrid that needed some pure wolf’s shadow to navigate her way around. She had been doing just fine before every one of them.Daven chuckled and led the way. “I didn't know you had a tear in you,” he said as he turned towards the bank. He owed Abigail a new card. But that was now really the reason he had decided to help her. Truth was, he couldn't stop thinking about her and desiring to hold her. And his
Daven held the steering, feeling proud. He had the woman he wanted, seated beside him. And even though her face was moulded into a scowl, a win was a win.Abigail sat quietly, wondering where Daven was taking her to. The day was bright and a public place was a huge no. She didn't want to be in another scandal. Mia had told her straight. She would abandon her. She couldn't even survive another scandal, being looked at as she walked the street and hated by even the unloved - the hybrids. She faced Daven. “Lunch break is thirty minutes,” she reminded him. He probably had never worked, she thought. And had no regard for time. “Where are you taking me to?”Daven flashed a smile that grated on her nerves. “Chill. Will ya? And don't worry, it's my company. No one can sack you.”“It's not yours if you're not CEO,” she shot quietly. She understood boys like Daven. Always having things done for them their whole life and even too lazy right now as a grown adult to reason with their brains. The
