I clenched my hand in my lap, my nails digging into my skin until a faint pain bloomed. At least physical pain was easier to face than this feeling of being sidelined. Liam was always good at it pretending to be calm, mature, as if all of this were merely professional. As if my feelings were nothing more than a minor inconvenience he needed to brush aside before returning to his “perfect” life.I exhaled softly. Sienna. That name again. The name he always used as a shieSienna's POV "I'm not going anywhere Sienna. I'll stay here with you."His words made me shut my eyes for a moment."I'm sorry." I said softly. "I've made you worry a lot."He cut me off away."Don't say sorry. You're going through something tough and I know it's not easy."I bit my lip gently. His understanding made my eyes water with tears."I still get sad a lot." I said honestly. "I still think about Noah all the time. Sometimes I'm scared I'll become the person I was before."The sound of the waves filled the quiet between us.Liam took his time before speaking."You're allowed to be sad. You're allowed to cry. You're not alone anymore. You have me, Liliana and William."For the time those words made me realize I wasn't carrying all this pain by myself.I looked up at the blue sky.A
Sienna's POV A sea breeze came across the shore that morning. After I helped Liliana water the plants and we had breakfast together I decided to take a walk on the beach by myself.Liliana asked if I wanted her to come with me. I just smiled and told her I wanted to enjoy the morning air for a while."I'm not going far." "Be careful." "I will." I walked without thinking about where I was going. My feet sank into the sand as gentle waves brushed against my toes before going back into the sea. Some fishermen were fixing their nets nearby. Kids ran across the shore with kites while seagulls flew low over the water looking for fish.My steps took me to a coconut tree standing a little farther from the shoreline. The shade looked nice so I leaned against the trunk. Sat down. The sound of the waves was much clearer there. I took out my blue notebook and opened it to a
Liam’s POVI closed my eyes for a moment before looking at Emily"Have you ever thought about Sienna?" The question made Emily tense up."She lost her son and it still hurts her a lot. She still hears Noahs voice she still sees his shadow. She cries every night."Emily bit her lip and her fingers tightened around the edge of her prison uniform."I lost my son too. I lost the future he was supposed to have I lost every plan we made I lost every dream he carried."I swallowed hard feeling a lump in my throat."He never even got to live his life."There was silence between us again. The only sound was the hum of the air conditioner filling the room.Emily did not look at me anymore. She looked down at the table in front of her.For a moment I thought she was starting to understand.A few se
Liam's POVI turned off the engine when I parked outside the detention center. The gray building stood silently in front of me; it was cold and unwelcoming.I sat in the driver's seat for a while not moving. My eyes were fixed on the walls ahead.Emily's first court hearing was tomorrow. My lawyer told me that we had all the evidence we needed. We had the CCTV footage. The vehicle investigation and witness statements all pointed to Emily. The case was much ready for trial. I still had one question on my mind.I wanted to see Emily. I did not want to forgive her.I was not going to threaten her. I just wanted to hear the truth from her.Why did she do something cruel? After a few minutes a correctional officer took me to the visitation room. There was glass between us and we each had a telephone on a small table.I sat down. Waited, my hands clas
Sienna's POV"Now I cry because I remember Noah."A faint smile touched my lips even as tears gathered in my eyes once again."I can remember him without feeling like I have to chase after him."Liliana looked at me for a long moment. A gentle smile slowly appeared on her face."That's a huge step forward, Sienna."Silence lingered between us before I finally nodded. Maybe she was right. The wound in my heart was still there. The longing had not faded even a little.Tonight was different. I could think about Noah while remaining quietly in my seat.Running out of the house never crossed my mind. Chasing a shadow that existed only in my memories no longer felt necessary.I simply missed him. Perhaps that was the small step I had been searching for all this time. Our conversation drifted to tomorrow's dinner, the market we wanted to visit again, and the sunrise William promised would be beautiful if the weather stayed clear.
Sienna's POV Night came in slowly. The noise of the waves was clearer than it was before that afternoon.Moon shine bounced off the sea on the other side of my window, making shiny lines that moved with the wave.I sat at a tiny desk looking at the sea. The blue book I got before was open in front of me.A plain dark pen sat in my hand. My eyes stayed on the line I wrote just a couple hours ago.Today I heard the sound of the waves. It was just one line. Looking at it again made me wish to put in something else tooTaking a light breath I put my pen on the page once more. The waves always come and leave? Maybe that is why the sea isn't really alone. My hand went way slower than it did before. There was a time when I could fill pages without stopping.Writing a short part now felt like going up a big hill. A small grin showed on my face anyway.
Sienna's POV.I saw Liliana first. With her black blazer on, she was sitting in our favorite corner, appearing to be the most confident woman in any room. With a triumphant smile and slick hair, she had an elegant expression. Upon my arrival, she stood up and hugged me tightly. With exc
Liam's POV Slowly, I leaned toward Noah. With his eyes closed and breathing normally, the little red robot remained tightly gripped against his chest. My lips curled up with a small smile as I carefully unbuckled his seatbelt. The warmth in his body made it feel like I was embracing the
Sienna’s POV Emily still sat across from me, calm, as if knowing that her words were enough to ignite the fire she desired. He didn't need to add anything more, because his silence was already proof of his superiority.Time passed slowly. The sound of Noah's laughter from afar, the
Sienna's POV The car slowed down and finally stopped in front of a restaurant with an elegant signboard, large windows, and warm lights glittering from inside. I looked around in confusion, even glancing at Liam with my brows raised.“Why are we stopping here?” I asked.Liam glanced
