(Celeste Moretti's POV)

"For the wedding," Luca said quietly. "I wanted to get you something."

I looked at the small box in my hands before opening it.

Inside was a delicate silver bracelet. Tiny stones were set neatly along the chain, catching the light every time I moved it. It was elegant, beautifully made, and expensive enough that I knew it couldn't have been an ordinary purchase.

I slowly placed it back in the box and looked at my brother. "Luca, where did you get the money for this?"

(Celeste Moretti's POV)Luca let out a quiet sigh before answering."Yes."Lavinia Conti stayed silent for a long time. She looked at the wedding invitation in her hands again before speaking."You should have told me."Luca shook his head."It wasn't my place to tell you."Lavinia pressed her lips together. She didn't argue with him. Instead, she quietly turned around and walked back to her bedroom.Several minutes passed.Luca remained standing in the hallway with both hands in his pockets. He avoided looking at me, and the silence between us grew heavier with every passing second. Then Lavinia returned. She was holding a small jewelry box.Without saying anything else, she held it out to Luca."I bought this for her birthday," she said. Her voice was calm, but there wasn't much emotion left in it. "It's a Cartier bracelet. Since she's getting married, she should have it as a wedding gift instead."Luca looked down at the box without reaching for it."She might not accept it.""That

"Luca, where did you get the money for this?""I earned it."I frowned. "How?"He answered without hesitation, as though he had already prepared himself for this conversation. Over the past two years, he had been teaching himself basic programming. Nothing too advanced, just enough to handle small freelance jobs online. Whenever he had work to do, he stayed at an internet cafƩ because the connection there was much better than the one at Vittoria Crown Academy after school. He wasn't spending his evenings playing games. He had been working.I s

(Celeste Moretti's POV)On the surface, it sounded reasonable. At least, that was what I kept telling myself.Without saying another word, I reached for the robe."Turn around," I said.Vincenzo turned his back immediately without asking any questions. Once I was sure he wasn't looking, I slowly climbed out of the warm water. I grabbed a large towel from the rack and quickly dried myself before wrapping it securely around my body. After that, I lay face down on the lounge chair beside the pool, rested my cheek on my folded arm, and told him he could turn around again. When he faced me, his eyes settled on my back. I noticed the slight movement in his throat as he swallowed once before speaking. His voice was quieter and deeper than before."Where does it hurt the most?""My shoulders," I replied. "And the middle of my back, just below my shoulder blades."He picked up a small bottle of massage oil from the edge of the pool. It carried the soft scent of roses. He rubbed the oil between

(Author's POV)At the Conti estate, Vincenzo was still in his study when his phone rang. He picked it up without looking away from the documents on his desk. The man on the other end kept the report short. Neil Dawson had been seen in the city earlier that day. He had only stayed for a short time and had not met with anyone they could identify. The last confirmed sighting placed him at the airport.Vincenzo slowly placed his pen on the desk and leaned back in his chair. His face remained calm, but there was a dangerous look in his eyes. His business with Neil Dawson had never been finished, and he had no intention of letting it stay that way. Vincenzo never forgot anyone who had crossed him, and he never left old scores unsettled."Find him," he said in a cold, steady voice. "I don't care how long it takes, and I don't care what condition he's in when you bring him to me."Without waiting for a reply, he ended the call.(Celeste Moretti's POV)I woke up earlier than usual that morning

(Author's POV)"I need something," Adelina said as she sat down across from Marco's desk. She gave him a small, tired smile before speaking again. "With everything happening because of the wedding, I've been thinking a lot. I want to own something in my own name. I want a place that's mine alone. I just want some security."Marco leaned back in his chair and looked at her. "How much do you need?""Thirty million," she replied. "I've been looking at an apartment. It's in a good building and a great location. I know I'm asking for a lot."Marco shook his head without hesitation. "No, you're not asking for too much." He picked up his phone while he spoke. "You should have done this years ago. Every woman should have something that belongs only to her. It just makes sense."Less than three minutes later, he completed the transfer and placed his phone back on the desk."Make sure you register it only in your name," he said. "Don't add anyone else's name to the property.""I won't," Adelina

(Author's POV)Neil kept his voice low and calm, as though they were discussing something completely ordinary."Lavinia worked for the Argenteri family for years. Everyone has been so busy trying to prove whether Celeste belongs to the Argenteri family that nobody stopped to ask a different question."He nodded toward the report in Tiziana's hands."That's a paternity test. Yours and mine."Tiziana's fingers tightened around the papers. She immediately told herself it couldn't be true.It was impossible. She repeated those words over and over in her mind, trying to force herself to believe them. But no matter how hard she tried, old memories began to surface. She remembered Lavinia always treating her with a warmth that sometimes felt too much. She remembered the cold way Lavinia treated Celeste, a coldness that went far beyond simple discipline. She remembered the day Lavinia slapped Celeste across the face in front of everyone without showing even a hint of guilt. For the first time

(Author's POV) The Matriarch of the Conti family leaned toward Vincenzo, her voice lowered to a near whisper. ā€œAre these people descendants of that illegitimate branch?ā€ Vincenzo gave a small, almost imperceptible nod. The Matriarch’s expression tightened, a flicker of confusion crossing her f

(Celeste Moretti’s POV) Stefano didn’t come home last night. Neither did Bianca. After her husband’s death, Tiziana had claimed that staying at the Conti estate brought back too many painful memories, so she’d moved into a luxury penthouse downtown. Where Stefano and Bianca had spent the night,

(Celeste Moretti’s POV) The video showed Cervinia’s snow-covered mountains in the background, picture-perfect and postcard-pretty. Bianca stood between Stefano and Tiziana, bundled in an expensive pink ski jacket I didn’t recognize. She was holding a half-eaten gelato cone, her face bright with h

(Celeste Moretti’s POV) I woke to the steady, mechanical beeping of the hospital monitors and the sharp scent of disinfectant that made my stomach twist. My head throbbed violently, every pulse reminding me of the fall. For a fleeting moment, I tried to place myself, but my mind was a haze until
