ASHLEY

“You want to do what?” I gasped, gripping hard onto the door as I stared at him in disbelief.

He chuckled and stepped even closer, his head tilted to the side.

“Why? Can't I have dinner at your place? I couldn't get over the aroma coming from your place, so…” he shrugged, that mischievous smile sticking to his face.

My lips slanted up in anger, and I scoffed loudly.

“You came over because you couldn't get over the aroma of what I was making?" I muttered mockingly, and he nodded with that annoying smile still on his face.

I scoffed again, shaking my head.

"I'm sorry, but you're not invited. I have guests,” I muttered, drawing the door closer to myself.

I expected that smile to disappear and let the disappointment cloud his face. But it didn't.

He neither walked away nor stopped smiling.

“Well, your guests won't mind dealing with me," he said.

My jaw dropped in amusement, and I narrowed my eyes, letting out a sigh.

I threw my head back and drew in a deep breath, hoping I'll get r

ASHLEY My lashes barely batted as I stared at his flushed face with a heart that raced like it would explode in any second. “Montgomery? Won't you sit?" Someone spoke and I tore my gaze away from him. “I apologize for being late," he muttered and walked towards me then slumped down into a chair beside me. I shuddered and frowned deeply, my heart twisting in anger. My hand, which was wrapped around the glass of wine, shook as the men turned their attention towards Alex and asked him questions about his plummeting company stocks. I looked at my father and noticed how quiet he had gotten. I guessed he wasn't expecting the son of a bitch at the gathering too. He was the youngest among them all and spoke the most, replying to every single question fired at him. I gripped the glass tighter whenever he spoke and turned to look at me. Half of the time, his eyes were fixed on me, and the other half was spent talking and glancing at my father and the men there. “How is your wife? I h

ASHLEY I adjusted my dress and applied lip gloss on my lips then straightened up and got up. I walked out of the room and headed down the stairs, sighing loudly as the car honked outside. “I'll be there!" I yelled at whoever was outside and turned off the TV before reaching for the knob. I got out of the room and walked to the car parked at the front of the house. I walked towards the car and poked my head in, my eyes narrowing to my father who was seated at the passenger's side. "Good morning, father,” I greeted and he turned his head in my direction. His face lit up, and he chuckled loudly, then reached forward towards me. “Come inside, my dear, come inside," he waved his hand at me. I forced a smile onto my face and nodded. "Hold on, let me lock up,” I said and spun around for the door. I locked the door and headed out of the porch then walked into the car. We didn't say a thing to each other until the driver had driven a good mile away from my apartment. "How was you

ASHLEY The look on his face was indescribable. He looked like he had seen a ghost, or as if he had just heard the date he would die. “What? Why are you so surprised?" I asked in a casual tone that got him even more pale. “You… I… I…" he stuttered as his hand waved from me to him. He was trying so hard to comprehend my words. “You… Did you just say you'll be my girlfriend?” He asked, his voice almost breaking. I was at the brink of laughing out loud at how he looked but I held myself back, still deceiving him with that unreadable face. "I didn't say I will be your girlfriend, I only gave you an example of the people you could ask,” I said calmly. He gasped and blinked back tears. His actions shocked me to the core and I couldn't help but snap my head back in shock. "Why are you acting like you just got the best news ever?” I questioned, unable to hold back anymore. He chuckled and began to move towards me, a large grin on his face. “Because this is the best news ever!" He h

LEONARDO “She’s going to be fine,” the family doctor muttered as he bent over her."Are you sure?” I asked. He paused examining her eyes and looked at me, his brows raising in surprise."This is the first time you're doubting me, Leonardo,” he muttered, his voice filled with amusement. My lips parted and slammed shut, my eyes narrowing in surprise."Is it?” I asked. He chuckled and straightened up."Call me when she wakes up,” he instructed.I nodded and got up from the couch then walked him to the front door.“Thank you for coming over without telling anyone, doc Nicholas," I muttered as I turned the knob and opened the door.He chuckled and nodded, “No problem." “But hold on," he paused at the porch and turned.“Who exactly is she to you?" He asked. My throat knotted and I gripped the knob harder, my eyes dimming. Her response back at the stall hit me and my belly twisted in anger and pain.“A friend." “What?" He leaned closer in question.“A friend. She's just a friend," I mutte

ASHLEY My mind fuzzed, my body felt lighter and my heartbeat returned, still skipping beats. I felt a hit on my chest, hard, desperate, strong enough to get some of my dead organs working again. “Ash, you have to wake up!" I heard a voice. Though it sounded so far away like I was still underwater. I felt that push on my chest again, harder than the last time. I tried to move and show whoever had snatched me out of death's grip that I was back to life, but my body didn't respond, and my brain could barely pass that signal down to my body parts. I felt warm lips touch mine, and sparks ran through my body, and the chilling feeling that had hugged me tightly suddenly disappeared. Air was blown down my throat, and slowly my breath returned, and my fingers moved. I coughed up, and the water that filled my lungs shot out. I jerked up and parted my lips, letting the water out. My heart raced, my breathing pace increased, and my belly knotted, then returned to normal. I slowly opene

  • GOOD GIRL GONE: Here For Your Downfall    [57] Sorry, not sorry

ASHLEY My chest tightened the longer I stared at her smirking face. I should have known she was a devil at first glance. I couldn't believe I trusted the facade she was showing to me yet again. She made Leah the villain and acted like an angel. Just like Lilian always did when she hadn't revealed her true colors. She would always run after people I offended and apologize on my behalf, and I would be grateful that I had a friend who could understand me better than anyone. I was sure that was what Leah thought too. I wished I could kill her at that moment, but unfortunately, I had to save myself from getting killed first. “Why did you do it?” Leah growled and pushed me, forcing my eyes and attention back to her. I gulped hard as I stared at the look of betrayal on her face. I should be happy. I should be happy I mocked her and took away her highest esteem. But that could only happen if I were the one who leaked the recording. This would have happened if I hadn't been exposed as
