He Don't Come.

“Congratulations, Alexa. Isn’t this your dream? You will finally become a famous journalist soon!”

That shout didn’t make me feel happy, I could only smile stupidly and with an annoyed feeling.

How could it not be, tonight should have been the most enjoyable party for me. My most meaningful birthday party, because after so long I was finally accepted at a famous news agency in this city, and I could be proud of myself to my family and friends.

But unfortunately, on the day that should have been special, the special man in my life didn’t think the same. Until I felt sick and bored.

Yes, he was Justin, a finance manager at one of the biggest companies in the country. He was always busy all day under the pretext of working, but no one knew what he was really like.

Like tonight, when I tried to ask him to come to my big day, he was busy working overtime at the office, even though in reality I clearly saw him with Lilian, his sweet ex-girlfriend, in a bar. The two of them were dancing passionately, hugging each other, and kissing.

Should I understand? Or was being angry the truth?

My heart slowly started to freeze and I didn’t know what to do now. My mind was in chaos. I was afraid that my friends and my mother would ask about Justin and I would never know what to answer.

“Where is Justin, Alexa? Shouldn’t he be here? Come on, this is his girlfriend’s happy day. There’s no way he’ll… work overtime, right?”

And sure enough, my mother who had just arrived carrying the package spoke. I couldn’t say anything but stay silent, trying to smile even though it was stiff because that was the reality.

“What else can I do, Mom? He’s a manager.” I lied.

Even though it was clear, my heart was already broken because of Justin’s very annoying attitude like this.

“Of course he’s a manager, unless he doesn’t love you anymore.” My mother quipped.

I closed my eyes for a moment, then I sat down with my friends. I sipped the wine greedily to quell the burning sensation burning in my chest.

“Alexa, remember how old you are? Shouldn’t you be discussing marriage with Justin soon? What are you waiting for? You and Justin have both established jobs, you’ve been dating for a long time. Marriage is a decision you have to make, right?”

“What Mrs. Kyle said is true, Alexa. How long are you going to let Justin be like this?”

I smiled wryly again, then I lowered my head. Even in this case, I really couldn’t say anything else.

My mother patted my shoulder, she sat beside me. She was looking at me with her funny gaze, then she smiled.

“Don’t you trust your boyfriend, Alexa?”

“Mom…”

“I can find you a good husband.”

“Do you think Justin is not good?”

“A good man must have a definite goal, right? It’s been more than three years.”

I immediately fell silent.

The next day, I deliberately went to Justin’s company. I saw how Justin worked and asked about the amateur video I received last night.

I stood in front of the office, and I saw Justin’s car finally stop. But unfortunately, when I was about to approach him, my smile immediately faded. Not only Justin who got out of the car but Lilian too.

Did they stay in the same place last night?

Thinking about that my mind was immediately confused, I started to get restless until finally Justin’s eyes fell on me and he and Lilian approached me.

“Alexa, why are you here?” Justin asked me.

I just smiled wryly, this was a really stupid sight.

“Hey, it looks like you two want to talk? Come on in.” Lilian tried to be friendly to me, I didn’t refuse the offer, the three of us entered the company.

“Why didn’t you come last night? I was waiting for you, even my mom was waiting for you, Justin.” I started to ask about Justin’s seriousness towards me.

He was still calm then held my hand, kissed it gently and unfortunately I melted stupidly.

“Honey, don’t you know I was busy last night? God, I really wanted to go there, but I had too much work to do.”

“Didn’t you go to the bar with Lilian last night?” I asked in a trembling voice. I showed him my phone screen, Justin didn’t show any expression other than silence and a calm smile.

“Don’t you know we’re like best friends?” he said lightly.

Best friends? Were there any best friends who hugged intimately, kissed intimately like that when I knew they used to be in a romantic relationship?

“Is there a best friend like this, Justin? You even kissed, and this morning you came to the office together.”

“We live in the same district, her tire was flat. Does that make you jealous? Come on, Alexa, we’re not little kids where doing something trivial is considered jealousy.”

“What Justin said is true, Alexa. Besides, you’ve been dating for a long time, is it possible that Justin is cheating on you with me? Are you kidding me?”

Now Lilian seemed to laugh very widely, then she waved her hand perfectly.

I was still silent, now I look like an idiot here. And I became confused, who was actually wrong here. Was it still me?

I lowered my head, until finally Justin stood up while wiping his face roughly.

“Actually, I wanted to invite you to lunch later and then buy you a gift for your success in being accepted at the company you wanted. But it seems like you’re not feeling well, I think everything should be canceled.”

Justin then took my bag and asked me to stand up. I put my bag on and looked at him with a sad look.

“Get to work soon, it’s your first day, right?”

He didn’t even try to make me feel better, blaming me seemed to be his habit now.

“Okay, I hope you can work in peace, Justin.”

Justin just left and left me alone, followed by Lilian. Again, I saw the two of them hugging each other as they entered the elevator.

My eyes were not blind, and my feelings were real, were I not right to be jealous of my own lover who had done something annoying in front of my eyes?

Or should I watch the two of them sleep together until they both confess?

I left Justin’s company with mixed feelings, then I looked at the blue sky.

So what should I do with my relationship with Justin? Or should everything stay stagnant forever?

I walked back to the nearest bus stop, but my steps stopped when I saw an old man walking further into the middle of the busy street. I tried to run to catch the old man, and after I managed to get close to him I pulled the old man’s body right before the red sedan hit his body perfectly.

“Sir, are you okay?!” I panicked, seeing the old man lying helplessly.
