This Enough

In the morning, my mother came to my apartment, she asked about work while bringing some groceries. As usual, she was surprised when she saw I was still home at this working hour.

“Why are you still here, Alexa? Aren’t you going to work?”

I paused for a moment, confused about what to say to her now. “I… don’t need to work, Mom.”

“What do you mean? Are you taking leave?”

“I was fired.”

The mother who was taking out the vegetables immediately stopped, she looked at me with furrowed eyebrows.

“What?”

“I was fired, I was late for work and then I was fired.”

“Are you crazy?”

I just smiled wryly, even if everything happened again then I would definitely do the same thing. Saving Mr. Anrez was something I could not regret.

“Justin knows about this? What does he think?”

“I don’t know.”

“What do you mean, Alexa? You don’t trust him?”

I was silent.

“Didn’t I tell you to break up with him immediately?”

“Mom ….”

“I’ve always known that Justin is not serious with you.”

“Enough, Mom.”

“Let’s go to his place.”

“No.”

“I heard pretty bad news about him.”

“What?”

“He’s seeing another woman.”

I went silent again. My mother looked at me again as if she wanted me to confirm what she said.

“I will choose a good husband for you. Why are you still stubborn in holding on to a useless man like Justin?”

“I love him.”

“Then you’ll just keep quiet being played by him?”

She immediately pulled me towards Justin’s apartment even though I was reluctant, even though I was sure that Justin was definitely not in the apartment right now because he must have been working.

But unfortunately, Justin’s car was still parked outside. I didn’t know why Justin was still there this early in the morning.

I saw the car moving erratically, and when I approached it I could only stare. How could I not, inside there was Justin making love to Lilian.

This was truly something I had never imagined, how could they have no manners like this? Doing something despicable in the morning and in a place like … this?

“Justin, can you come out?”

My mother seemed furious, she immediately knocked on the car door impatiently.

I tried to pull her hand so that I wouldn’t do that but she didn’t care.

“Are you blind? Don’t you see what your damn boyfriend has done, Alexa? He makes love to another woman in the car. This is crazy!” She started to get emotional.

“Mom, please calm down. Let’s wait for him to come out first.”

“No, this is crazy. And you just keep quiet. What’s on your mind?”

I couldn’t say anything, until finally Justin came out with Lilian and both of them were now unable to make any excuses.

“Alexa, I can explain this. Everything is not like what you imagine, believe me if everything is just a misunderstanding.”

I slapped Justin, my blank eyes stared at him with a fierce gaze. I shouldn’t cry in front of him and I have to prove that I can do it without him.

“Justin, from now on our relationship is over!”

I immediately left Justin and Lilian and I could guess that he would never pay attention to me. I knew that, because I had felt that his love for me had been numb for quite a long time.

My mother hugged me, I immediately stopped in my tracks. I cried again because I didn’t know what to do anymore and how. I had lost my valuable job, and now I had lost the man I loved so much. So, what else should I hold on to in this world? I had no idea at all, God!

“Calm down, Alexa. Everything will be fine. I’m here, I will always be with you.”

I nodded, hugged my mother tightly and hoped that all of this would pass, everything would be fine.

“Alexa, is that you?”

I glanced at the car that stopped beside my mother and I, it turned out that the figure who greeted me was Mr. Anrez.

I hurriedly nodded, then I bowed. “Mr. Anrez. Are you well?”

“It’s all thanks to you, thank you very much. I purposely looked for you and luckily we met here. Can you come with me?”

I looked at my mother, she looked at me again with a look full of inquiry. “He is Mr. Anrez, Mom. An acquaintance of mine.”

“Oh, okay. If you are going, I hope you can go safely.”

“You can come with me, Madam. Actually, there is something quite important that I want to tell you both.”

“Why us?” I asked to make sure.

Mr. Anrez smiled again and nodded his head. “Because this is an important discussion.”

I still didn’t quite understand what Mr. Anrez said, until finally my mother and I decided to join him. We arrived at one of the biggest restaurants in the city, and we were in the VVIP room.

I didn’t know how great Mr. Anrez was, but seeing that he had a visitor card and was respected even by the manager of this restaurant was enough for me to know that he was no ordinary person.

“I will not make small talk with you two, because of course I already know you well enough, Alexa. Sorry if I secretly tried to find out your identity in detail and I was quite amazed.”

I was still silent, it seemed I was confused about this discussion, even until the old man found out details about me.

“Mrs. Kyle, if you don’t mind, I would really like to match Alexa with my grandson.”

I almost choked on the food I was eating while my mother stared in disbelief at what Mr. Anrez had said.

“Excuse me, did we hear you right, Sir?” asked my mother to make sure.

“Yes, you heard me right. I have seen everything about Alexa and I am very impressed. Moreover, some time ago Alexa saved my life. She sacrificed the job she had always dreamed of for me. Seeing all that is enough to make me sure that Alexa is the right woman for my grandson.”

Mr. Anrez’s words stopped, and not long after that a young man came. A handsome figure with a perfectly straight body wrapped in an expensive suit. A figure that was so charming and even his face was like a Greek god statue with flawless handsomeness.

“He is my grandson, his name is Nathan Anrez. Now he works as a small businessman. And because he is busy working he forgot to look for a prospective wife. So I want to match Alexa with Nathan, of course if Mrs. Kyle and Alexa agree to this even though I force it a little. Believe me, together with Nathan, Alexa’s life will definitely be happy. I guarantee this.”

My mother and I were stunned again, it was like a dream that was not real at all.
