Kellan stared ahead, his eyes unfocused, as if he was no longer in the room.

It felt as though he was watching the past replay itself right in front of him.

“We were best friends,” Kellan said at last. His voice was calm, but beneath it lay a heavy pain he had buried for years. “All three of us.”

Arden remained silent, watching him carefully.

“All three of us were childhood best friends,” Kellan continued. “It started with our parents. Ryder’s parents, my parents, and Eunice’s parents. Ryder’s family was the richest, far above ours. My parents and Eunice’s parents were nowhere near their level. But money never broke the bond they shared.”

He let out a quiet laugh that carried no joy.

“They trusted each other. They ate together, traveled together, celebrated together. Because of them, we grew up together.”

Kellan leaned back slightly, his eyes still distant.

“We went to the same kindergarten. The same primary school. The same high school. We even planned to go to the sa

Eunice didn’t know how long she stayed on the ground. But the moment she attempted to stand, she noticed movement at the entrance of the mansion. Her heart jumped. Ryan? She pushed herself up quickly, panic flooding her chest. If Ryan saw her , everything would be over. She turned and tried to rush upstairs. She didn’t make it far as something hard slammed into the back of her head. Pain exploded behind her eyes. Her vision blurred instantly, the hallway spinning as her body lost balance. Eunice staggered forward, her fingers scraping against the wall before her knees gave out. She collapsed to the floor, the world fading into darkness. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Eunice woke up to a pounding headache. Her vision was blurry, her body heavy, as if she had been dragged through fire. She pushed herself up slowly and groaned, clutching her head as pain shot through her skull. “You are finally awake, sleeping beauty,” Ryan said coldly. Eunice froze as she turned toward the voice and saw R

Since that day, Ryan secretly instructed his men to dig deeper into Eunice. He trusted Ryder, but his instincts refused to stay silent. For a while, things appeared calm on the surface. Ryder doted on Eunice openly. He treated her with care and patience, always reminding her to rest, to eat properly, to avoid stress. He attended meetings early just so he could return home sooner. To everyone watching, he looked like a man deeply in love, excited about becoming a father. After Ryder left the room that evening, Eunice finally allowed herself to breathe. She sat on the edge of the bed and released a long sigh she had been holding in all day. Ryder’s kindness was becoming dangerous to her resolve. The way he touched her gently, the way he looked at her with trust—it all made her chest tighten painfully. Why is he making this so hard? she thought. Her heart was already softening, and the guilt was slowly eating her alive. She had betrayed him too many times. Each lie felt heavier

Days turned into weeks, and weeks slowly turned into months. Ryder never heard from Kellan again. No calls. No messages. No word through mutual contacts. It was as if Kellan had vanished from his life completely. The silence hurt more than any argument ever could. At the same time, Eunice never stopped feeding Dinte Deluca information. Every plan Ryder made, every strategy he discussed behind closed doors, every movement of his men—Eunice passed it on without hesitation. Each time Ryder launched an attack against Dinte, it ended in failure. Ambushes failed. Traps were avoided. Ryder’s men walked straight into danger, and many never returned. Ryder noticed the pattern, but he could not see the source. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Eunice sat in front of the mirror in her room, carefully arranging her hair. A soft hum escaped her lips as she adjusted a strand behind her ear. Her reflection looked calm, almost happy. Anyone who saw her would think she was at peace. But then a thought cross

As dawn began to peek through the curtains, Eunice lay against Ryder’s chest, her fingers tracing slow patterns on his skin. Ryder rested his chin on her head, listening to her soft breathing and feeling her warmth. For the first time in years, he felt a strange peace—a connection that went beyond friendship, beyond betrayal, beyond the chaos of their lives. “You really… love me?” Ryder asked quietly, his voice barely audible, as though saying it louder might break the moment. Eunice tilted her head to look at him. Her eyes were calm, sincere. “I’ve always loved you,” she said simply. “And tonight… I finally let myself show it.” Ryder smiled faintly and pressed a gentle kiss to her temple. “I love you too,” he admitted, his heart finally catching up with the truth he had buried for so long. For a brief moment, everything felt right. But inside Eunice, something shifted. A flash of guilt crossed her eyes, sharp and sudden. If he ever finds out the truth… Her chest tightened.

Eunice never knew that the pictures she sent were actually very valuable and it gave Dinte Deluca more information about Ryder. Unusual things started happening to Ryder. Three of his warehouses had been bombed, foreign mafias suddenly withdrew the deals they had signed with him, and contacts he had trusted for years began avoiding him. It was like everything in his world was suddenly unraveling. Ryder, who had always been one step ahead, couldn’t even begin to figure out where the problems were coming from. Meanwhile, Eunice kept up her act of innocence perfectly, hiding the truth behind her gentle eyes while slowly, carefully, stabbing him in the back. Ryder sighed as he sat on the bed in his room. He picked up a picture frame and stared at it. It was a picture of his father, looking calm and strong, the kind of man whose words carried weight even after years. He could still hear his father’s voice in his mind: “Ryder, trust only yourself, but never lose sight of who you are

After the doctor bandaged her arm and reassured her, Ryder sat beside her for a moment, his eyes scanning hers with quiet intensity. “It won’t happen again, Eunice,” he said firmly. “Just take some rest now. You need to sleep.” Eunice nodded slowly. She shifted under the covers, letting herself sink into the soft mattress. Ryder’s hand lingered for a second on hers before he rose. “Sleep well,” he murmured, and then left the room, closing the door softly behind him. As soon as she was alone, Eunice let out a small, low chuckle. She shook her head, the image of the guard collapsing under Ryder’s shot flashing in her mind. “You should have stood out of my way like I told you,” she muttered under her breath, smiling at the memory. She swung her legs off the bed and stood up. Her arm throbbed slightly where the doctor had worked, but it wasn’t serious. Carefully, she walked to the door and opened it slowly. The hallway was empty and quiet. Eunice sucked in a breath, stepped
