POV: SASHA

I slam the door to Elena's hotel suite without knocking. The guards posted outside don’t even blink anymore. They are used to me barging in by now, but today is different. Today, my name is trending and not in the way I want.

Fake photo leaks.

My face, my name, dragged into a storm I didn’t start. And I know exactly where to begin looking.

"What the hell did you do?" I hiss, marching into the living room where she sits like she owns the goddamn world.

Elena doesn’t flinch. Doesn’t even look up from her tablet.

"Sasha," she says like I’m a child who tracked mud into her marble foyer. "Lower your voice."

"Don’t you dare patronize me," I snap, yanking the tablet from her hands and throwing it onto the velvet couch. "You leaked those pictures. And you know damn well it is going to come back to me."

She sighs. Sighs. Like she’s bored. "If you think for one second I am behind that noise, you have given me too much credit. Or not nearly enough."

I laugh, sharp and bitter. "Don’t i

  • HEIRESS REBORN   THE WARNING

POV: DETECTIVE ARLEN KADEI’m not supposed to care this much.I keep telling myself that as I drive through this part of the city I usually avoid—old money, stone fences, families with lawyers on retainer. The kind of people who can afford to bury a girl’s life and make it look like grief. But here I am, again. Off-book. Following a case that was never mine to begin with.Alina Rivers.I’ve read the file so many times it’s embedded in my skull. I could recite her autopsy report word for word, which is ironic considering there was never a body. Just an assumption. A suicide note that conveniently disappeared. A grieving husband who moved on too fast. A mother-in-law too composed. A falsified hit-and-run that’s beginning to smell like rot.And now? Now noise about her gas stets up again. Griggs won’t return my calls. And there’s Kaia. The woman with Alina’s eyes. The deeper I go, the harder it is to ignore the smell of cover-up.I pull up to a quiet street, windows tinted, plates clean.

  • HEIRESS REBORN   CLOSE RANGE

POV: KAIA (ALINA)I don’t flinch when I see the headline."KAIA LANE: WHO IS SHE REALLY?"I stare at the photo they used. It's grainy, lit like a smear campaign. I’m stepping out of the car. My hand is raised, shielding my face. And behind me—Damien. Close enough to be called intimate. Too close. They’re not real.I know that. The angles are wrong. The lighting doesn’t match. My face is too stiff, like it was cut out and slapped on. But they don’t need to be real. Not when people believe them. Not when they look at the headline, then at me, and start whispering. The assistant. The one no one knew much about. The one always too calm. Too clean. Too close.I toss the tablet onto the couch and press the heels of my palms into my eyes. They think they’ve got something. They think this will shake me.It does. Not because of what it says. But because of what it means.I pivot fast.Vivian is already on the phone by the time I storm into the war room. I can hear her lying beautifully. Calm,

  • HEIRESS REBORN   FIRST STRIKE

POV: ELENA CROSS"You're live in three, two, one—"I don’t blink. I smile. The lights hit. The anchor’s voice filters in, all warm professionalism, like we’re here to talk about philanthropy, not political blood. I lean forward, fold my hands just so, and tilt my head like I’m grateful for the opportunity. I smile—wide, soft, rehearsed. Not too confident. Not too contrived. The kind of smile a woman wears when she’s been painted a villain but wants the world to know she’s just misunderstood. They wanted me to cancel. They begged, actually. Said it was risky—too many allegations, too much heat. But that’s exactly why I’m doing it now. While the blood’s still in the water. Let them think they’ve wounded me.Let them think I’m bleeding. The anchor shifts in her seat. "Elena, you’ve been under intense public scrutiny since the allegations broke. Political bribery. Tampering with law enforcement records. Even connections to a decades-old missing persons case. Are you—are you stepping down

  • HEIRESS REBORN   THE BURN BACK

POV: NATHANIELThe room smells like tension and cologne and too much money being burned. I stand in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows in my office, watching the stock ticker on my monitor drop by another point. That’s the third today."They are panicking," I mutter.Behind me, the sound of shoes clicking against marble grows louder. Sasha. Always stomping around like she owns the place. I don’t turn. She has surprisingly calmed down from my last scheme and that is enough to worry me.Maybe I shouldn't have done that, but she needed to be taught a lesson. Either way, I will just have to be prepared for whatever shit she pulls this time."You see this shit?" she says, slapping a printed headline onto my desk. Her voice is sharp, high-pitched. "Ashen’s stock is climbing again. People are calling Kaia 'a silent visionary.' There is another article speculating she is the one pulling strings behind the scenes."I finally glance at the paper. The headline is bold, red. Ashen’s Enigmatic
