I was curled up in a chair on the porch thumbing through pages of one of my father's books. I thought it would help me clear my head.

Yet, the words and symbols were just a jumbled mess. It was Friday, and the boys didn't have school for some teacher workday. It would all come to a bitter end Sunday morning when I would ask them to take me to the bus stop for real. I didn't know where I would go or what I would do. But I would resign myself into disappearing and experiencing what my purpose in life will take away from me.

Bas jogged up and I peered over at him clutching a paper bag with a red bow on the handle and a box. There was something in his eyes I couldn't read. He handed them to me and I took them into my lap.

“What's this?” I asked.

“It's from Beau and Wyatt and before you open it, I'm taking Claude and Lou camping tonight so there's no excuse,” he blurted before he quickly took off to the two boys on the dock and they began whispering amongst themselves looking back at
