Alina’s POV

“Victor? What sort of sick game is this?” I snapped suddenly, fully awake now.

“I take this as a yes, you saw them. I care about Alina, and I wouldn't stop until I get you back.” His voice was calm. Not at all like Victor.

“Fuck you Victor!” I hung up.

He was an asshole and I hated him with all my heart. How dare he?

“Fucking asshole!” I yelled. “God damnit” I slammed my fists onto the mattress angrily, feeling the sting of pain as I hit my palm repeatedly.

I lay still on the bed and after that, I let the warm water from the shower soothe my aching muscles, washing my hair vigorously, trying to wash all of the memories, feelings and emotions away.

Afterwards I dried myself quickly and threw on a pair of jeans and a dark grey T shirt. I tied my hair into a messy bun and grabbed a random sweatshirt out of the closet before exiting the room.

Sebastian wasn't, until he walked in, his face cool.

“You have a guest” There was no trace of joke in his voice, I could tell that we were back to putting up with each other.

“I am not expecting anyone.” I shrugged.

“She wants to see you.”And he left, heading downstairs

Damn, who is she?

I followed him downstairs to the living room to find Vanessa casually sitting in the dining room with Sebastian’s family, drinking tea.

“Sister.” She waved casually as if we were the best of friends. Or rather sisters.

“Good morning.” I greeted everyone , feeling awkward and a little scared.

No one responded, and I earned a snicker from Vanessa. Sebastian cleared his throat and gestured to me to sit but I didn't.

“Can I talk to you for a minute Vanessa?” I asked instead.

Her eyebrows shot up in surprise. “Sure.”

She followed me outside the house and closed the door behind her.

“What are you doing here?” I glared, crossing my arms in front of my chest defensively.

She chuckled darkly. “You mean aside from visiting my darling sister?” She raised her hands innocently.

“Yeah, besides that.” I narrowed my eyes at her, not believing anything she was saying. “Drop the act and leave now.” I commanded her.

She studied me for a second, her smile disappearing. “Your in-laws seem to like you.” Her voice reeked of sarcasm .

“What do you want?” I growled, narrowing my eyes again.

She smiled brightly again. “What do I want? Oh please, you've got to be kidding me?”

“Yes, what do you want Vanessa?” I repeated, growing more annoyed by the second. I didn't like how this conversation was escalating.

“How about we start with what wouldn't I want? The life you stole from me? The position?” She continued, smiling and shaking her head as if this was amusing her.

“Well?”

She laughed. “This is going to be fun! So let's see… I'll start small. Do you believe you deserve to live the happy life you have always dreamed of? Well clearly you are not happy here, who knows?” Her expression darkened as she looked me in the eye.

“You don't deserve this. You have never deserved this...” She continued slowly, her tone getting louder with each passing second and by the end, I just wanted to punch her in her smug face.

“I am done waiting for our grandfather’s approval and I am taking things into my hands. So now that I have given you a little heads up, why don't we go back inside and play little happy family?” She clapped her hands together and turned around as if to walk away and I pulled her back.

“Leave.” My tone was dangerously low.

She looked up at me surprised by my sudden change of attitude but only flashed me a wicked grin. “Or what? Will you kill me? Is that it? Will you try to seduce me as you do the others? You are aware that is incest, right?”

“You're full of shit!” I spat furiously.

“Oh? Are you sure? Are you absolutely certain?” She challenged me. “Because if you piss me off, I will yell out your dirty little secrets, your inlaws don't like you already, it could be worse, maybe they will decide to kick you out,” She shook her head and started laughing hysterically. “Wouldn't that be so funny?”

“Shut up! Shut the fuck up!!” I shouted, my anger getting the better of me.

She stared at me wide eyed, finally shutting her trap. “Wow. That's the first time someone has ever told me to shut the fuck up,” She said dryly.

My jaw clenched and I clenched my hands balled into fists.

Just then the door opened. “Is everything alright ?”

Sebastian asked, stepping into the hallway as he came in.

Vanessa and I immediately stood up straight as we faced him.

“Of course. My sister and I were just trying to catch up, isn't that so darling sister?” Her voice reeked of false cheeriness.

Sebastian stared at her intently and for a moment I thought he was going to say something. Then he turned to me as if to confirm.

“She is right, everything is fine. We are just catching up.” I replied, forcing a smile on my face.

He studied me even harder but thankfully, kept quiet and nodded. I know Sebastian wasn't a fool, he could tell when something was wrong. I didn't want him asking about it later on. I couldn't tell him about Vanessa or anything else. He knew enough.

Moreover this was not an actual marriage, this was a temporary inconvenience and I was going to find my way out of it. I always did, I always will.

He stepped away from us and started making his way back to the dining room.

I sighed and ran my hands down my face tiredly. I was completely exhausted from what had happened in those few minutes. I followed him and I could feel Vanessa following closely as well.

But the voices in my head were active. “Alina, are you even listening to me?” One snapped, pulling further into my thoughts.“Who?” I asked, confused. I knew who it asked for, and I knew what it was talking about but trust me when I say no one wanted their fears to be confirmed.“That’s what I was wondering” another sighed. “What if it was ” it repeated its question. I could imagine the voice as that of a lean woman, staring at me with crossed her arms and warm amber eyes piercing through the bottom of my soul and trying to figure me out but I looked away immediately. The hair in my arms stood involuntarily at the mention of his name, causing my whole body to tense up. I remembered the last time. I was giving him more power than necessary. He still managed to b

Sebastian’s POV “What is this madness?” One of the men yelled, he was staring at me with cold icy eyes, and his accent was heavy.“What does it look like? Be patient and watch.” I responded calmly, although I really wanted to tear them into pieces. When the video finished playing, they both turned to me, faces white as paper, their mouths agape. I could have sworn that their hearts skipped a few beats when the video played the first time. Then one of them looked at the other, he gave him a slight nod as if he had just completed some kind of mission. The one called Pierre cleared his voice. “What do you want?”he asked. He didn't seem so confident now. In fact he seemed downright scared. But what was there to be afraid of, he thought. I’m not going to kill you or anything, so calm down. Calm down.“Well, first of all, you need to answer a question for me” A smirk appeared on my face. The man looked surprised but nodded in agreement. “Did you really think you could get away with hara

Sebastian’s POV “The French men, they molested me” The words fell off her lips and I could feel the blood rushing to my face, though there was no emotion on her face. This was a mistake, I must have misheard. It couldnt be possible. All I saw was red. I was angry and sad and confused and scared. I couldn't remember why I had felt these things, but I remembered those words very cleary. Those words were engraved into my mind, they found a way to keep themselves in my memory. It played on a loop in my mind, the image of her lying broken and bleeding on the floor, the smell of her fear in my nostrils, her broken soul. It felt like I could remember her, more like sew every single detail, the sound of her screams, and every single word she screamed. The way her eyes were wide open and full of fear as she tried to call for me, I'd always hear it echoing in my mind. Alina’s POV My vision blurred when I woke up and blinked away the dark spots in front of my eyes, trying to understand where I was, what happened. My body felt tense like a rubber band pulled taut as it stretched from my shoulders to my knees, but when I tried to move any muscle in my body it just hurt. It was like there were wires connected to all my limbs, some in my back, others in my legs and feet. It made it hard for me to sit up, so I had to lean against the bed.“Relax…” I heard a familiar voice. “Just relax. You're fine.""Mister?" I croaked out, my voice sounding raw even to my own ears. He laughed.“From Sebastian to Mister, but I will take it” he said. His voice sounded distant, like I was listening through a tunnel. “You're safe here, we're going to get you out of that position in a few minutes, just let your muscles uncoil." His warm hand rested lightly on my shoulder. “I feel trapped.”"It's okay...you're not trapped." I could hear the smile in his voice. “You ju

Sebastian’s POVShe looked so frail as she laid there in the hospital bed, her head was wrapped up in bandages and her face pale and sickly looking from her blood loss. After she stormed off at the park, I didn't go after her. I didn't expect her to go far either but soon time passed and there was no sign of Alina. So I assumed she had gone home but when I got home, she wasn't back. She didn't answer any of my calls or texts. Eventually she returned, her shoulders hung lowly in defeat but still she stood tall with a defiant tilt to her chin and a determined set to her eyes. I could still tell something wasnt right from the way her body stiffened and her gaze avoided mine. “Where have you been?” She shrugged noncommittally. “Around.” Her voice sounded like it belonged to someone else. It was quiet and flat and hollow. But the more her expression changed, the more I realized how much I hated that look on her. It only lasted a second before her facade slipped and tears fell

Alina’s POV I didn't tell Sebastian anything when I got home. There was nothing to tell. I maintained a distance as much as I could, not responding when he spoke to me. I couldn't let him know what had happened. That would only mean more chaos. I was tired of the chaos it had managed to become a part of my everyday life.I was going to see the French men by myself the next day, I would make it work, with or without his help.“What are you offering?”“A partnership with my company is going to be a big step for us. It would give a fusion both to French and American culture , it gives people the same experience. My team will be in charge of developing the products and marketing your own, it is going to bring us together.” I smiled at the men in front of me . They looked like business tycoons but their demeanor was different - they weren't arrogant or condescending. In fact, they seemed eager to have a collaboration between companies. A few seconds of silence passed between them, as if
