Alina

Panic engulfed me as I stared at the moving body, there was no way I was going to be part of a murder case, not when I had just started living, not with everything else.

“What the hell have you done? He is not breathing, he is not moving!” I screamed at Sebastian in the middle of my panic attack while I hit him repeatedly over his chest.

At that moment all I could think of was the media, the headlines this will carry, oh God.

“Get yourself together. He was going to hurt you” His voice held no remorse, as usual, it always sounded as if that were the only thing he cared about.

“What do we do?” Charles was going to kill me.

Sebastian brought out his phone and I could tell he was dialing a number “You should go, I will handle it” He said and before I could even protest he shoved my keys into my hands.

But I didn't move, if I left, I would have another secret and he would have the upper hand.

“Go”  He repeated. His tone held finality and without any protest, I opened the door, slammed it shut, got into my car, and drove home without looking back. My hands were shaking as I held onto the wheels. My whole body shook and my eyes were glued to the road in front of me “Don’t look back. You can’t afford it” I reminded myself repeatedly over and over again while praying that this wouldn’t be the end of me. And if eventually, it wasn't, then I would be in a more bigger trouble.

Once I made it through the gates of the mansion that had now become my home for the past five years, I parked the car and rushed inside the house, desperate for a drink of water. As soon as I entered the kitchen, I started drinking and trying to calm down, she walked in.

Vanessa my half-sister.

“Where have you been?” Her eyes held their usual death glares. She didn't like me and she didn't hide it.

“Out”   Was all I could manage between chokes on my drink. She looked around me, searching for something but instead of finding it her eyes settled back on my face.

“With one of your numerous men? Are you still sleeping around to earn favours my dearest sister?”  She spat those words like acid, making me shudder from head to toe. But I wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of seeing me react more than once. So instead of answering, I took another large gulp from my glass.

“Goodnight” I turned to walk away when an abrupt hand on my shoulder stopped me. I turned around, expecting to find her glaring at me but instead, I found herself smirking, which I hated.

“Have fun with him”  It seemed like an invitation, which made me frown in confusion. “Or not” She added, turning away to open the backdoor.

That night I couldn't sleep. I waited for him to call me and when I couldnt wait anymore, I called him.

He didn't answer, it didn't even ring at all.

Was the creep dead? Had I just been part of a murder case? Did someone know about us? I had so many questions but no answers.

That night passed away slowly.

The next morning I couldn't sit still “Fix me a meeting with Sebastian Wolfe” I told Clara as soon as she appeared in my office.

She froze for a little bit before nodding. “He will be expecting you by ten” she returned.

“Good” I nodded in return, “Thank you”

She looked at me like she wanted to say something but decided against it and left the room quickly, clearly worried about whatever I was planning to do, which irritated me.

Why? I had no reason to be, she was only looking out for me. What was I even doing?

I was not productive. I pretended to go through the files in front of me but I was deceiving myself.

When it was past 9, I had the driver take Clara and me to Sebastian’s office. The feeling of dejà vu engulfed me, reminding me of the person I once was, the person I wanted to forget.

We walked into the same dark-haired secretary. She froze when she saw me, and a look of recognition hit her.

Anyone would have reacted the same. I was a different woman.

“How may I help you, ma'am” she forced herself to say.

“Alina Grant, I am here to see your boss and this time I have an appointment”  I responded without breaking eye contact with the lady and her face turned red.

“Right! Follow me, please” She led me towards a large office and knocked twice before entering the room “Miss Grant has arrived” She announced.

“Let her in” I heard Sebastian rough voice behind me before I even stepped further into the room without Clara.

Once the dark-haired secretary left, I was face-to-face with him.

“Did you think about my proposal that fast? Hi Alina” He greeted me calmly.

“Sebastian” I nodded curtly.

“Sit”

“I am not here to sit. I want to know what happened to the man from last night?” My voice came off strong and confident but my heart felt like a hammer hitting a wall inside me.

“You mean the same one who tried to harass you? I almost felt flattered that you had come to say thank you”  He replied dryly. His expression didn't change.

“Yes. That man. Thank you but  I need to know what happened to him, is he dead”  I spoke firmly yet quietly.

“Dead? No no, not necessarily. Why do you ask?” He continued playing poker face like he hadn't just thrown a life-or-death situation into the mix.

“You know perfectly well why I'm asking”

“Well I handled it and that's all you need to know”   His reply lacked the emotion I wanted to hear and his tone annoyed me beyond belief.

“Handled it?” I shouted at him.

He sighed “Yes Alina, handled it”

I was stunned.

He had gotten up from his chair and walked towards me, holding my hand. I pulled it away and backed up into a corner as he moved forward “Stop it! What are you trying to prove? Are you trying to make my life harder than it already is?”

“It's not always about you Alina”He had me cornered, his cologne tickling my nose as he stood in front of me.

One of his hands found its way to my face. It was warmer than I expected from a cold man.

His fingers traced purposeful patterns in my cheek as they traveled downwards and caressed my neck. I wanted to stop him yet I shivered involuntarily. It felt almost soothing.

I saw him gulp and suddenly there was a knock on the door causing me to jump.

Alina POVMy grandfather didn’t look pleased to see me, the anger on his face only deepening as I walked through the front door of one of his penthouses with my purse in hand. This was the agreed location and also to avoid any cameras that might follow me.I smiled awkwardly at him, and he just scowled even harder. “You’re are going to tell me what is going on”“Sure I am” I agreed, sounding a little more defensive than I had intended. He wasn’t exactly known for being the forgiving type. “What is going on? First it was the sudden marriage, and now those photos? Why did you not mention them?”“I didn't know they were in existence until yesterday grandfather” I bowed my head in shame. It didn't matter how much of my past I had tried to erase, they seemed to always find their way back to me, to where they truly belonged. It didn't matter if I hid or not.He sighed, running his hand down his face “Why couldn’t you have called first? It takes time for things like this to process.”“It

Alina POVI watched him put it in his pocket. “You wouldn't be needing this for now,” he told me. I raised my brows, confused. “Why? I always need my phone, give it back” I held my hands out expectantly.“I'll give it back later,” he replied, shrugging.“Well, I don't understand what silly games you are playing this time Sebastian Wolfe but I would like my phone back this very minute, I don't care about what you think” “Fine,” he agreed and reached out for me. I flinched and jumped away as fast as I could. He frowned but he didn't say anything and I didn't know whether he actually understood or if he was simply pretending. I decided not to ask and to take my chances with it.He dropped the phone on the bed instead of handing it to me and soon he was walking towards the door. “I'm going downstairs, I'll send my chauffeur around to pick you up,”“Wait, you aren't coming?”“No” he said matter of factly. He turned around and I saw something flash across his eyes, something very dark

Alina POVThere were two things I knew for sure. First, Sebastian Wolfe was angry and whatever had annoyed him had us sitting next to each other in his private jet back to New York. And the second? I didn't give two shits, so I didn't ask.I didn't ask when we made our way back to the room we now had to share in the Wolfe's mansion even though I still thought it was unnecessary.I woke up to no sign of Sebastian by my side and I was glad I had the room to myself.I had my bath and got out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my body, my hair was still wet. The room smelled like lavender. It was my favorite smell.I moved the towel to my waist, my back turned to the door while I applied some lotion over my body. The door opened with full force but I wasn't fast enough to wrap myself up with the towel. When I turned to look at the intruder, his eyes were wide, almost comically so and he looked down at me. I felt bare even though I now had a towel over me.His eyes moved from my

Alina POVNot too long after Sebastian had left for his room, I decided to call it a night myself. I was completely spent and I needed to relax. I found his aunt by one of the tables talking with her daughters. I excused myself, telling them I was extremely tired and needed some rest.“Oh that’s understandable. Come, I’ll walk you up to your room,” Sebastian's aunt offered.I was inclined to decline but she was already getting on her feet and coming around the table to meet me. I sighed as I took her hand which she surprisingly offered me again and allowed her to lead me up the staircase. While we walked, she peppered me with some personal questions. Then she started asking me about her nephew and what I thought about him. It confused me at first but I told her the only honest thing that I could. He was quite honest with his dealings and very straight to the point.‘Oh that’s my Seb. He’s always been that way. Too uptight, doesn’t let himself relax”We were now in front of a bedroom

  • His Contract Wife Revenge   Chapter Fifteen

Sebastian POV“She’s easy on the eyes, cousin”I did not have to turn around to know it was Alex –Al as our mothers liked to call him, who had spoken. In his hand, he held a plate of food piled high. “Whose eyes?” I asked without looking at him.“Come on, it’s hard not to look”“But not impossible, try”He chuckled, recognizing my twisted sense of humor for what it was even though a part of me was serious.I looked away from him just as he picked up another piece of chicken from his plate and took a large bite.It was one of the greatest mysteries of Alex. How did he manage to eat that much and still remain fit. With his inconsistencies at the gym and several social disorders. But I knew how. Which was exactly why I was giving him the look I currently was.“What?” He laughed and struck my arm with his elbow, playfully of course.“You know what”“Relax, I’m not going to touch her. She’s your wife. Come on, man, you’ve got to give me more credit than that”Then I really looked at him a

AlinaI was suddenly nervous at the prospect of meeting his other family, I was even more confused on what exactly I was doing here.“Do you want to shower and get changed first?” Sebastian went on, unperturbed by my worries,My palms were sweaty. I indiscreetly rubbed them against my skirt while he stood there peering at me curiously like he could see through the brave mask I was trying to put on.“Actually, I was hoping to talk to you first”Sebastian only raised his brow for a second before turning around. “We’d go somewhere private”I followed him around the curve of the staircase to the hallway beyond. There were a series of doors leading out of the hallway on both sides of us. Large windows flanked the exterior walls revealing the fields around the house. I decided that if I had time to do anything else, I would walk around the grounds. Finally, Sebastian turned open a door and we descended three steps into a sunken den decorated with plush carpets and dark walls. He offered me
