Alina’s POV

“She does a lot of things for attention all the time” Vanessa said through laughter as if it were the most normal thing.

The older Mr and Mrs Wolfe looked between us, so did Sebastian’s sister.

“And I suppose you do too?” Mrs Wolfe asked.

Vanessa looked like she had been slapped across the face, and I looked away, embarrassed.

Eventually, she left after breakfast and I had never felt more relief from my day off.

That was before Mrs Wolfe called me over.

“You asked to see me ma'am.” I said politely. It seemed that no matter how good you are at hiding it, people still can tell when you’re uncomfortable.

She nodded. “Yes, need to talk to you. You see, I will be hosting a group of elite women today. I need you to stay locked up wherever you usually stay.”

“Excuse me?” I looked at her uncomprehendingly. What kind of meeting is this?

“All I am saying is that I don't want you to be seen by any of those women. You are ready an embarrassment to this family, I don't want you to create room for gossip.”

My jaw dropped and my eyes widened in surprise. “You are never letting that go are you?” My face was now adjusted, my survival mode turned on and I was ready to play the game as long as she would keep it up.

“Why should I?” Sebastian’s mother asked in an uncharacteristically cold voice. “I’ve done enough by keeping you posted, haven't I?” Her eyes narrowed with disapproval.

“At least I am not the only one with a controversial past.” I shot back, knowing there would come a point when she would finally snap and I was determined to be there for that time.

“What are you talking about?” She looked genuinely confused for once. I guess this was the first time I really had hit her with a blunt accusation.

“Oh nothing Ma,” I answered with forced calm, trying to control the sudden surge of anger in the pit of my stomach. “I guess I know about your daughter’s liquor addiction, I’m sorry about that”

Sebastian’s mother’s expression immediately turned from confusion, to horror, to fury. “How dare you! What are you implying?”

I smiled calmly. “Well, I'm just saying you might know that I wouldn't be the only topic of discussion if spotted. You would also like to know that people gossip, they say she didn't go to any fashion school in Paris, everyone says she was in rehab.” I let it sink in for a second or two.

Mrs Wolfe’s hands began to tremble visibly and she took several deep breaths until her voice came out steady again. “Are you threatening me child, is that what you are trying to accomplish?”

“No, dearest mother-in-law, I am only saying that maybe we should take precautions. There's no need for us to bring shame onto ourselves and our name, especially with these women around.” I finished,.

She shook her head in disgust but her hand raised high as if to slap me across the face but I held her back. “I wouldn't do that if I were you,” I warned.

She gave a short laugh of disgust. “You really think you have anything to threaten me with? You are nothing,” she spat. “Act clever all you want, but it's only matter of time before more of your dirty past gets out and you will lose everything you have built up.”

I wasn't going to lie, her words had sent shivers down my spine, but I stood my ground. “We'll see.”

As soon as I left the room back to that of Logan’s I slumped against the door and slid down to the floor. The air conditioning had kicked on and I could feel perspiration gathering on my brow. How dare her?

Suddenly my phone began buzzing, I quickly grabbed it, and it had was a no-caller id. I left it.

“What are you doing on the floor?” Sebastian asked once he entered the room, noticing me there. He walked over and stops next to me. “Did something happen?”

“How is that any of your business?” I asked coldly as I stood up, brushing myself off. “Your mother threatened to send me out of the house. Do they realize that I don't even want to be here? Let me go Sebastian. I have a life waiting for me!”

“Mom threatened you? That's ridiculous! Why would she do that?!” he sounded concerned and his forehead creased as he looked at me.

I shrugged, feeling annoyed. “Are you even listening?”

“Alina Moreau, you are not leaving here until you give me an heir to the Wolfe’s name!” Sebastian’s voice rose with each word, becoming more and more angry, he looked like he wanted to grab me by the shoulders and shake me til I listened.

“You don't own me Sebastian Wolfe!” I retorted angrily, “and I don't want to be here.”

“You can't possibly believe that I will let you go like that” He paused, looking at me like I was some strange specimen. “Do you want me to call Mom, ask her to explain herself?”

I glared at him. “What do you really want? Why are you doing this to me?”

He didn't say a word, he just kept staring at me, but then a strange look passed over his face, I wondered whether he'd heard the question I had asked. After a few seconds, he cleared his throat and replied. “I...don't want you to leave. I have told you what I want.”

I couldn't help it, I burst out laughing. “You don't want me to leave? Seriously?”

His face hardened and he clenched his teeth together, yet nothing.

“You know what Sebastian, you are the most selfish person I have ever met, and you are such an asshole that it's pathetic sometimes.” I said, unable to hold back my sarcasm. He flinched and I could swear the color drained completely out of his face.

For once, he actually looked guilty but not for long, fury quickly replaced it again. I had pushed him far enough now I needed him to react.

But the voices in my head were active. “Alina, are you even listening to me?” One snapped, pulling further into my thoughts.“Who?” I asked, confused. I could imagine the voice as that of a lean woman, staring at me with crossed her arms and warm amber eyes piercing through the bottom of my soul and trying to figure me out but I looked away immediately. The hair in my arms stood involuntarily at the mention of his name, causing my whole body to tense up. I remembered the last time. I was giving him more power than necessary. He still managed to b

Sebastian’s POV “What is this madness?” One of the men yelled, he was staring at me with cold icy eyes, and his accent was heavy.“What does it look like? Be patient and watch.” I responded calmly, although I really wanted to tear them into pieces. When the video finished playing, they both turned to me, faces white as paper, their mouths agape. I could have sworn that their hearts skipped a few beats when the video played the first time. Then one of them looked at the other, he gave him a slight nod as if he had just completed some kind of mission. The one called Pierre cleared his voice. “What do you want?”he asked. He didn't seem so confident now. In fact he seemed downright scared. But what was there to be afraid of, he thought. I’m not going to kill you or anything, so calm down. Calm down.“Well, first of all, you need to answer a question for me” A smirk appeared on my face. The man looked surprised but nodded in agreement. “Did you really think you could get away with hara

Sebastian’s POV “The French men, they molested me” The words fell off her lips and I could feel the blood rushing to my face, though there was no emotion on her face. This was a mistake, I must have misheard. It couldnt be possible. All I saw was red. I was angry and sad and confused and scared. I couldn't remember why I had felt these things, but I remembered those words very cleary. Those words were engraved into my mind, they found a way to keep themselves in my memory. It played on a loop in my mind, the image of her lying broken and bleeding on the floor, the smell of her fear in my nostrils, her broken soul. It felt like I could remember her, more like sew every single detail, the sound of her screams, and every single word she screamed. The way her eyes were wide open and full of fear as she tried to call for me, I'd always hear it echoing in my mind. I could picture the men laughing while they tossed her back and forth, I could imagine them staring at her luscious body,

Alina’s POV My vision blurred when I woke up and blinked away the dark spots in front of my eyes, trying to understand where I was, what happened. My body felt tense like a rubber band pulled taut as it stretched from my shoulders to my knees, but when I tried to move any muscle in my body it just hurt. It was like there were wires connected to all my limbs, some in my back, others in my legs and feet. It made it hard for me to sit up, so I had to lean against the bed.“Relax…” I heard a familiar voice. “Just relax. You're fine.""Mister?" I croaked out, my voice sounding raw even to my own ears. He laughed.“From Sebastian to Mister, but I will take it” he said. His voice sounded distant, like I was listening through a tunnel. “You're safe here, we're going to get you out of that position in a few minutes, just let your muscles uncoil." His warm hand rested lightly on my shoulder. “I feel trapped.”"It's okay...you're not trapped." I could hear the smile in his voice. “You ju

Sebastian’s POVShe looked so frail as she laid there in the hospital bed, her head was wrapped up in bandages and her face pale and sickly looking from her blood loss. After she stormed off at the park, I didn't go after her. I didn't expect her to go far either but soon time passed and there was no sign of Alina. So I assumed she had gone home but when I got home, she wasn't back. She didn't answer any of my calls or texts. Eventually she returned, her shoulders hung lowly in defeat but still she stood tall with a defiant tilt to her chin and a determined set to her eyes. I could still tell something wasnt right from the way her body stiffened and her gaze avoided mine. “Where have you been?” She shrugged noncommittally. “Around.” Her voice sounded like it belonged to someone else. It was quiet and flat and hollow. But the more her expression changed, the more I realized how much I hated that look on her. It only lasted a second before her facade slipped and tears fell

Alina’s POV I didn't tell Sebastian anything when I got home. There was nothing to tell. I maintained a distance as much as I could, not responding when he spoke to me. I couldn't let him know what had happened. That would only mean more chaos. I was tired of the chaos it had managed to become a part of my everyday life.I was going to see the French men by myself the next day, I would make it work, with or without his help.“What are you offering?”“A partnership with my company is going to be a big step for us. It would give a fusion both to French and American culture , it gives people the same experience. My team will be in charge of developing the products and marketing your own, it is going to bring us together.” I smiled at the men in front of me . They looked like business tycoons but their demeanor was different - they weren't arrogant or condescending. In fact, they seemed eager to have a collaboration between companies. A few seconds of silence passed between them, as if
