Seeing Alex with Star really made me rethink things and check myself out.

It gave me a severe reality check as if I was slapped in the face by the plain, bitter truth. It made me realize that things could never work between Alex and me, no matter how I tried to think otherwise.

Watching my daughter laugh at whatever Alex said, together with him sitting there on the barstool attentively paying attention to what she was rambling about, really sent a pang across my heart.

They looked so natural and they complimented each other almost perfectly, like they were made to be together.

Although Alex was still years older than Star, adding to the fact that I wouldn’t allow them to date ever, they looked really good.

It made me just register the age gap between us.

There was no way things could have worked out for the both of us. Not only was I eight years older than him, it was better that he searched around for women in his age group, instead of chasing after an older woman like me.
