Chapter Four

After saying that, he left. There is no way I would sit still in the office anymore so, I went back home and prepared my daughter's favorite dish. I need to tell her about her father so, I need her to be happy. Fate had a way of planning things tho, she ask about her father and he appears.

It's almost unbelievable how some things don't change. It's been four years since I saw her for the first time and she still has that pulling effect on me. I loved her the moment I sighted her in that Club. She looked so pretty in her blue jeans and top. I saw how she was pulled to the bar by the lady she came in with. I felt the pull towards her.

I watched her looking around like she was scared of something and I knew I had to go to her. I followed her when she went to the restroom and with her attitude, I knew she was looking for the lady she came in with. I approached her when she went back to the bar and sat down.

We talked and I discovered that was her first time in a club. From the way she spoke and how she got drunk after a glass, I knew she hadn't even had alcohol before.

We talked and talked till she started misbehaving and I didn't have any other choice than to take her to my house. She was so drunk that she kept running her hands all over my body. My body was so sensitive to her clumsy touch. I took her into my room so that I could watch her for the night but things turned hot. We ended up making love and it was the best sex I had ever had in my entire life.

I woke up the next morning and she was gone. I thought we will talk in the morning and I was planning to ask her to stay with me. I didn't want her going to clubs every night. I didn't find her and she left with the money in my briefcase.

I was angry at first but I eventually understood why she would run away. She might have been scared or ashamed of what happened last night and that was why she left. I went back to that same club several times to look for her but, she didn't show up. It was like she didn't exist.

After a few months and she didn't turn up, I started investigating. I found the lady she came in with that night and I was told her name is Rose. The funny part of it all is that no one knows where she disappeared to.

It was like that until recently when a friend told me she was seen around town. We followed the trail and discovered she lives in Benue state. She relocated and opened a grocery store. More like a Mall tho. She was even trying to open a branch here in Lagos. The most shocking thing about all this is that she has a child. With the age of the child, I knew she would be mine and that was why I risked having someone bring me a strand of her hair. I did a DNA test and she turned out to be my child.

Who would have thought that I would have a child just like that? The only good part to all of this is that, am in need of a wife. Dad has been pressuring me to get a wife. Finally, I could take the only woman that has stolen my heart with just one night together and, my child home. Where she really belongs.

I waited for her that fateful morning in her office. From my findings, I have been made to understand she comes to the office every morning after taking my child to school. So, that's where I waited. She came in and was shocked to find me there. There was also fear in her eyes. I could see the fear in her eyes. 'She should be scared. She hid my child from me. She made me miss out on three years of my child's life. Who does that?'

I ended up listening to the story of her life before and after that night till this moment so, I wanted to give her a little time before the big news and that's why I told her that I want to meet my child.

"After I left you, I left Lagos that very day. I rented an apartment intending to use the money to train myself through university but, a few weeks to my jamb exam, I found out I was pregnant. I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it so, I bought a house and started this business. I knew school was out of the question so, I started this business so that I would give the child a comfortable life." She said.

From the expression on her face, I knew she wanted to hear what I have to say. I didn't say anything for a while so, I just said, "I want to meet my child!"

I could see the fear in her eyes. What is she thinking? She looked at me and pleaded. "I... Allow me to tell her about you first. Please,"

That's what I plan to do anyway. I want her to prepare my child before I meet with her so, I got up from the chair and buttoned up my suit then said, "very well, tell her about me. I will be at your house tomorrow for dinner."

Her look couldn't get any worse cause at that moment she looked like I had hit her hard. "You know where I live?" She asked me.

I looked at her for a while like she was a child then said, "I have watched you for a whole month and I know everything I need to know. I'll see you tomorrow."

With that said, I walked out of her office without looking back. I didn't want to stay anymore cause looking at her was raising images in my head. I got into my car and sat there trying to get my thoughts in order.

After a few minutes, I saw her walk out and rush into her car. From the way she drive out, I knew she was still shaken by my visit so I followed her closely. She might not know yet but, I love her. She is the only lady I have felt this way for. I followed her till she got to her house and then, I drove to the school my child attends. I just want to see her. I mean, she looks so much like her mother in the picture I saw but, I want to have a glimpse of my child.

While I was waiting, I made a very important call. The phone didn't ring for long before it was picked up. "What's up guy!" I heard the voice of my ever annoying friend Uzo from the other end.

Uzo and I met in the states and we instantly clicked. While he had the privilege to come and visit his family during the holidays, I didn't have that chance. I was practically banished from Nigeria. My father made sure I couldn't come back home. I could only come back after I graduated from University and I made my own money. "Help me with the marriage certificates now."

"Are you sure about this?" He asked me.

"I am sure! She has my child and I don't want to separate a mother from her child. Just do as I have said." I said to him.

"But guy, this lady stole your money! How sure are you that she wouldn't do the same again?" He asked me.

He was probably being caring but, I won't be responsible for hearing apart a mother and a child. "Listen Uzo, I love this lady but, am doing this for my child. I didn't grow up among family but, I want my child to grow up with as much love as possible. Just help me prepare the certificates."

"Ok man. I understand. I will send them to you tomorrow morning." He said and hung up the call.

I sat there in the car and waited till it was time for their lunch break. It was like God wanted to help me out this afternoon. I didn't wait long before I saw my beautiful daughter walk into the playground. She looks so beautiful and I guess that's what she was named Princess.

I almost rush out of my car and go to her but I controlled myself and drove off. 'We will meet each other tomorrow and I can't wait to show you just how much I have come to love you' I said as I drove off to the hotel I was lodged in.
