Christopher drove out of the house and hit the road to Lagos. Princess was so excited about the journey that she didn't even bother to rest.
"Daddy, can you give me your phone?" Princess asked after talking for a while and she didn't get a reply. "Sure, you can have it," Christopher said and gave her his phone. "What do you need it for?" Rose asked. She has been quietly going through her phone since they left the house. "I want to use g****e," she answered. "What do you want to check on g****e?" Rose asked. "My friends said that if I want to know things about daddy then I should search it on g****e," Princess answered. "Do you know The internet lies sometimes?" Rose asked and Princess shook her head. "It's not everything that is on the internet that you believe. Most of them are just rumors." Rose said. "But..." "No buts young lady! If you want to know anything then ask your father. He is right here so what do you need g****e for? Just ask him anything you want to know and I am sure he will answer you." Rose said. Christopher looked at Rose and smiled at her. He looked at Princess who was sitting at the back and saw how she was looking at the phone like she still had something she wanted to say. "What is it, Princess?" "Nothing dad," she answered. "Then why aren't you asking me anything?" He asked her. "I..." She said and looked at her mom. "I don't want mommy to be angry at me." She said. "Your mom is not angry at you. She is just telling you the truth. Instead of searching about people on the internet, just ask someone. Most times, the things you see on the net are just rumors." Christopher explained. "Yes baby, I am not angry at you. Your father is here so you should ask him whatever it is you want to know. We are a family and we shouldn't be scared to ask each other things. Right, Christopher?" She asked and Christopher nodded his head. "You see? You can ask anything and we'll be happy to answer you." "Ok, mom," Princess answered. "So, you can ask me whatever you want to ask g****e," Christopher said. "Ok, my friends who saw you at school yesterday said you are a celebrity and I wanted to check if it's true," Princess said. "Well, who do you think a celebrity is?" Christopher asked. "I don't know, they said you are popular and people who are popular are celebrities," Princess stated and felt proud of herself. "Well, you can say that about me but, don't let the internet and what people say fool you. Ask your daddy whatever you want to know. Ok?" Christopher said. "Yes, daddy. So, do you also have a daddy and mommy?" Princess asked. "I have a dad but I don't have a mommy. That means you have a grandpa." Christopher said. "Why don't you have a mom?" Princess asked. "My mom is dead. Do you know what that means?" Christopher asked her. "Yes, what do you take me for. I am a big girl and I know what you meant by your mommy is dead." Princess said which earned her a chuckle and a giggle from Christopher and Rose respectively. "What? Am I not a big girl?" She asked after seeing their reaction. "Of course you are. My baby is a big girl," Christopher agreed with her. "Why don't you listen to some music or play games? Your dad needs to concentrate on driving." Rose said to Princess. "Ok," she said and started playing on the phone. Christopher looked at her and knew she wanted to say something to him but she doesn't want their daughter to hear it. "What is it? From your look, I know you have something you want to say." Rose didn't know she was that obvious with her actions and said, "oh, was I that obvious?" She asked and he nodded his head. "Ok. Well, I just felt we could talk a little. I mean, you could ask me whatever you want and we get familiar with each other. Don't forget you are my husband on paper alone." "Yeah, I know that I still have to do a lot of things to win you over, and trust me I have it all planned out," Christopher said and they shared a laugh at that then, he continued. "I don't have anything I want to know. I will rather find out. I know every basic things that I need to know about you. I have watched you for over a month and that's why I came to you. Had it been I discovered you were married already do you think I would have come to you?" He asked not looking at her. "I don't know, why don't you tell me?" She answered. "Well, I wouldn't have. I was so happy when I found out that you have never had a relationship with anyone." Christopher said and glanced at her. "Oh, well I didn't give myself the chance to get close to anyone. What about you? Did you date anyone?" She asked. She was hoping he would say he hasn't dated anyone as well because the idea of another woman with him didn't sit well with her. "I didn't. I couldn't get you out of my head. You left your mark after that one night. You really know how to make impressions." He said. Rose released a breath she didn't even know she was holding. "That's good." She mumbled but Christopher heard her. "Are you happy about that?" He asked. "Why would I be happy about that? It's your life." She answered quickly. "You have a smile on your face and I want to believe it's because of what I said." He said. Rose didn't even know she was smiling. "I Am not smiling." She said and averted her eyes shyly. "Well, there is something you need to know tho, Cindy and my father will give you problems when we announce that we are married. I don't want to keep you in the dark." Christopher said. "Hmm. Don't worry yourself about that. I can handle myself and I know how to fight for what's mine. I can handle Cindy or whatever her name is and as for your father..." She said and left the rest hanging. Christopher smiled at her confidence and waited for her to complete what she wants to say but when she didn't say anything more he had to ask. "What about my father? What will happen?" "Don't stress over that. Just focus On important things." She said with a look in her eyes. Christopher nodded his head at her and said, "can I ask for something very important?" "What is that?" "Since we are married and will be living together, does that mean I'll get to eat food made by you every day?" He asked her. "I'll have to think about that. Let's see what happens." She answered without looking at him. "What's there to think about? I can't get the taste of your food out of my head. I can't even wait to stop this car somewhere so that we can have lunch." He said. "What lunch? I didn't prepare your portion." She said. "What? How can you be so mean? If you didn't add my portion to the food you prepared then we'll have to eat your portion together." He said. "Dream on," Rose said and looked out the window. Christopher chuckled at her and happily concentrated on driving. They haven't even spent a week together and she was already teasing him. He was happy to see her acting free around him but he wanted more than just that. 'Christopher, you better don't mess this up' he thought to himself.Rose and Princess got to the side of the house and she was wowed. The whole area From the side she could see to the back was filled with trees of all kinds. Mango trees, oranges trees, pawpaw, avocado trees, and some she couldn't name. They walked further and, there was a wide swimming pool. The water looked so neat that one would have the urge to win in it. "Wow!" Rose breathed out."Let's go, mom. The house for the dogs is this way." Princess said and led Rose in another direction away from the pool. They walked among the trees and got to an open space where a small building was. They Met Audu at the house that was built for the dogs and he was feeding them. "What are you two doing here?" He asked them as they got closer."Princess wanted me to come and help her pick one among the puppies and that's why we are here," Rose explained."Oh," Audu said and chuckled at Princess's excitement. "Please, go ahead. Just pick the one you want amongst all of them.""What will happen to the oth
A few minutes later, Princess ran into the house ahead of Christopher and the others. "Mommy!!!" She shouted so loud that it could wake a dead person up. "Good morning mom!" She said as she ran straight into Rose's opened arms."Good morning my baby, how are you?" Rose asked."I am doing great mom. This house is so cool and guess what?" Princess said as she pulled out of the hug."What? Just tell me. You know I am not good at guessing!" Rose said with a smile playing on her lips."Well, daddy has dogs in this house and one of them is a female. She is so big! There is even a swimming pool at the back and, there is also a swing in the garden. The dog just gave birth to her children and daddy said I could take one and it'll be mine. Isn't that cool?" She said in one breath."Wow, you seem to have done your research around the house. That's great." Rose said. She noticed that Christopher and the others had gotten to them so, she said, "why don't you allow mommy to greet these people who c
Princess woke up very early the next day being a Thursday and immediately she opened her eyes, her surrounding was a little strange to her. She was about to panic when she heard a gentle voice. "Princess?" She looked at the person calling her and remembered where she was."Daddy?" She called. "Am I really in Lagos?" She asked and Christopher nodded. "Wow!! I can't believe this. I can't believe we'll get to stay with you in this big house." Princess said happily. She suddenly stopped talking and Christopher who came into her room as early as possible got scared. "What's wrong? Don't you like it here?" He asked her worriedly."Nothing is wrong dad. I just remembered that I will have to start a new school and make new friends. I am scared of that! What if they don't like me?" Princess asked and pouted her lips."Who would anyone want to hate someone as beautiful as you?" Christopher asked after realizing that she was just scared about making new friends."Do you think so? Do you think t
Rose walked into her room and slumped on the bed. She laid down and looked at the ceiling with different thoughts running through her mind. The thought of confronting the whole citizens of the media when their relationship gets out to the public was something she wasn't looking forward to. Yes, she can do whatever she wants to do as long as the determination is there but, most of these internet citizens just love to criticize. They would only see what they want to see and from the comments that have been made based on the announcement of Christopher's engagement to Cindy, she was going to have a hard time. The public thinks they are a perfect match and they look good together. She continued to think about this till an incoming call on her phone pulled her out of her thoughts."Hello?" She said immediately she picked up the call because she didn't check the caller ID."Good morning sis! Have you guys gotten to Lagos?" She heard. That was when she noticed that it was Ada on the other si
They got downstairs and Christopher took them to the dining room. Immediately they entered, Rose couldn't hold back her comment and said, "Is this really just a house? I feel like I have walked into another world. This is just a dining room for god's sake!! Why must it be so beautiful?" Rose asked and sat down on one of the chairs placed around the table. The chairs were made of wood but it also has leather seats and was made to look golden brown. The table was made of glass and it was decorated with fresh flowers in beautiful vases. There was also a bowl of fresh fruits placed at the center of the table with the edges painted gold."The truth is, I had this house remodeled. I almost tore down the whole house before it could turn to all what you are seeing now." Christopher explained while scratching the back of his neck.Rose and Princess sat down to wait for him while he went to prepare something for them to eat. He came back out after some minutes and placed plates of noodles and f
"Wake up, we are here!" Christopher said and shook Rose who had fallen asleep on the way."What time is it?" Rose asked as she woke up and looked at Christopher."It's 8 pm already. Let's go in. We have arrived." Christopher said and opened the door to get out.It was at that moment that Rose looked at her surroundings. She looked at the house in front of her and was wowed. The building was big. She knew how the house looked like but she didn't get to admire it then. They were a total of five cars parked at the garage and the middle of the compound was a water fountain with colorful lights around it. The lights gave it a kind of glow. She opened the back of the car and carried Princess who was sleeping. As she lifted her up, Princess woke up."Where are we?" She asked as she looked around with sleepy eyes.Christopher who was taking out their bags from the trunk chuckled and said, "this..." He gestured at the whole compound and continued. "Will be your new home. This is our house!""
