Chapter Sixteen

Christopher got to his hotel room and called Uzo. The call was connected after the third ring. "Hey man! What's up?" Christopher said.

"I'm cool. What up with you and your little family? When am I meeting OUR wife and child?" Uzo answered.

"Which one is OUR wife?" Christopher asked.

"Come on bro, we are brothers, and what's yours is also mine. Remember?" Uzo said and from his voice, one could tell he was teasing his friend.

"Please, please, please. Don't even go there. There is no our in this one oo. I called you for something very important." He said.

"Fine... What is it?" Uzo asked.

"Well, I want you to help me go to my house and check out how things are there. I changed my lock but you know how that man and evil snake are. I will be back tomorrow and am coming with MY wife and child." Christopher said.

"That one fast ooo. Guy, you don't mean it. I thought you won't be back till the end of next year ooo." Uzo said and laughed.

"What do you mean by next year?"

"Hahaha, she doesn't know that you are not as nice as you look that's why. Don't worry, when she gets here I will make sure to tell her the kind of person that you are." Uzo said.

"That's your business. Please don't forget to do what I asked you to do." Christopher said with all signs of joke out of his voice.

"Ok, sir... What do I do if I see the SNAKE?" Uzo asked.

"Do the necessary. I don't want her anywhere near my property." Christopher said

"Yes sir. I'll go there as early as possible so that I can also make it to the office on time." Uzo said.

"Ok. Good night!" Christopher said.

"You too guy. Enjoy yourself. Please don't overdo oo!" Uzo said and disconnected the call immediately.

"Stupid guy. . Which enjoy? Am here with my self and he is telling me not to overdo." Christopher said and went to freshen up.

He was about to lie down when his phone rang, he looked at the screen and he saw it was his father. He allowed the phone to ring till it stopped without picking up. It didn't take long for it to rung again. He angry got up and picked up the call. "What is it, dad?" He asked immediately the call got connected.

"That is not how we greet our elders in Nigeria, especially in Yoruba land. You need to be respectful." His dad said.

"Well, let me remind you, you didn't let me learn the so-called respect that you are talking about," he retorted.

"That's by the way, when are you coming back? I went by your house and it was locked. Your gateman didn't even let me in." His dad complained.

"Really? He did that? Wow, he deserves a raise." Christopher said and chuckled.

"Stop with all this nonsense and come back to the main house. Your fiancee misses you!" His dad said.

"What fiancee?" Christopher asked.

"What do you mean by what fiancee? Cindy of course! You need to come back home and plan your wedding!" He shouted.

"Oh, really? Wow! How come I don't remember proposing to her?" Christopher said taunting his father.

"That's because you didn't. Now, I need you to be home as fast as possible. Stop being so rebellious. You are not a teenager anymore. You are 27 and you need to act like one. It's high time you think according to your age." His dad shouted over the phone.

"Wow dad, you know my age, that's a first dad. You never even bother to remember my birthday and now, you are interested in my life? Keep all the act to yourself dad. If you like Cindy so much then I suggest you get married to her after all you are single and she needs a rich husban." Christopher said to his dad.

"What... You know what? Just come back here as soon as possible. I don't have time for your sarcasm." His father said and hung up the call.

Christopher looked at his phone and tossed it away From himself. "I'll be back but be ready for this beautiful surprise dad..." He said and laughed.

Next morning...

Rose woke up as early as 4 am and started preparing for the journey to Lagos. Since they'll be traveling by road, the journey will take approximately 10-12 hours so she got up very early to cook something that they will take with them.

She was in the kitchen when Ada came in. "Good morning sis! Wow, that feels good." She greeted happily.

"Good morning Ada. How was your night? You sound happy." Rose answered with a smile at her.

"It was fine and am very happy. How was yours?" Ada asked.

"It was ok. Why are you up so early?" Rose asked with a smile.

"I want to help you. I know you'll be up very early so, I timed myself also. I want to help out. I will miss you so, I need to use my time with you wisely." Ada said.

"Well, thank you. I don't have much to do. Am just making a little Jollof rice in case Princess gets hungry on the way. You know how all these roadside food sellers are. Some are so dirty you won't be able to eat what they have." Rose said.

They set about cooking and in less than an hour, they were done. Rose arranged the food and asked Ada to go wake Princess up. "Please help me wake princess up and get her ready while I also get dressed."

"Ok," Ada said and went to do as she was told. They got ready and Christopher came and they left at 6 am. They all had their thoughts for the life they are to about to step into. Rose was keeping her fingers crossed and Princess was more than excited to go to Lagos.
