Chapter Thirty Five

Christopher sat where Rose left him for more than thirty minutes. He was still trying to forget the feel of her lips on his. "Fuck you, Christopher, how could you lose this chance." He murmured. "How long can I play this waiting game? God help me. I don't want to ruin this chance tha..."

"Who are you talking to?" A voice interrupted Christopher's murmuring.

"Fuck!!! What are you doing here? I thought you said you are going to bed." Christopher cursed at Uzo who just appeared out of nowhere.

"I couldn't sleep. Thank God I came back. Who knows what you would have become. You were talking to yourself." Uzo said and sat down beside Christopher.

Christopher exhaled deeply and said, "it's none of your business. Why are you out?"

"I have already told you that I couldn't fall asleep. There is something bothering me about all these things." Uzo said.

Christopher looked at him and said, "what is bothering you and about what things?" He asked.

"Do you remember the investigation you asked me to do?" Uzo asked.

"How can I forget that? Is there something new?" Christopher asked. His interest has been quipped by what Uzo was saying.

"No. Nothing new came out but, it's surprising how nothing new comes up. No matter how deep we dig it's like someone else is making sure we find out nothing." Uzo said.

"You are right. I knew it wouldn't be easy and that's why I asked you to do it. Do you want me to assign someone else this task?" Christopher asked.

"Haba!!! Why will you say that? Someone can not talk to you in peace? Must you threaten me? Am not even sure I am your best friend. A simple thing that I just said now you have started to threaten me!!" Uzo said.

"It's unfortunate that I don't have any other friends. You should count yourself lucky." Christopher said.

"You should be the one to count yourself lucky. What would you do without me?" Uzo said.

"No problem. You are off the investigation. I will call Ray over." Christopher said and relaxed.

"What? You will call who?? I swear you no fit!! I go use my hand poison you." Uzo said after hearing the name, Ray.

Ray happens to be the second person Christopher trusts. Ray is the person in charge of all Christopher's business outside the country. "What? You will poison me?" Christopher asked with a smile.

"It's enough that I have to meet him anytime I help travel but please, don't make him take over my role. If you do that I swear, I will renounce you as my friend." Uzo said.

"You want to denounce me? No problem. I will renounce you first. Start going to your house!.." Christopher said and made to pull him off the chair.

"Leave me alone joor!!!" Uzo shouted and pulled his hand out of Christopher's hand.

Christopher laughed at his action and said, "please, stop coming to my house all the time. If you are going tomorrow eh, take all your things out of that room. This is the last night you will spend here."

"Na wa ooo!!! So, you are serious about this thing. I should really stay away from your house?" Uzo asked.

"Yes. Stay away." Christopher said. "Let's forget that for now. Have you done all that I asked you to do against Monday?" Christopher asked.

"This is not time for work abeg. I am not only your worker. I am also your friend and my working time has ended. Ask me all these questions when you get to the office tomorrow. Can't we have bro's time?" Uzo complained.

"Good night abeg. Your problem is too much and besides, I need to have my strength for wooing my wife." Christopher said and started walking away.

"Hahaha, you are the first man who is still trying to woo his wife. At least we have seen someone that doesn't fall for you at once. You have to work for this man..." Uzo said while laughing.

Christopher hissed and walked away leaving Uzo to laugh at him. He got up the stairs and first of all, entered into Princess's room. He walked to her bed and placed a kiss on her forehead. "Good night my baby..." He whispered. He watched her for a while before walking out of the room as quietly as he entered. He got to Rose's door and contemplated if he should go in or not. He stood there for some time but later walked to his room. He wass tired but couldn't sleep. He tried but failed so, he picked up his phone and called Ray.

The call was connected after immediately. "Yo!! What's up boss?!" Ray said over the phone.

"How are things over there?" Christioher asked.

"Fine. But, you know how things are. Someone is still trying to investigate the company. I think it's still the same person." Ray said over the phone.

"Make sure they get no info about me. I don't want anyone finding out that I own any company. Do you understand?" Christopher asked.

"Yes boss!! I get the Drill. We'vee been doing this for year's now and no one has been able to link you to the company. It won't start now." Ray said over the phone.

"Good. Call me if anything new comes up. I also need you to find out something which will be very hard." Christopher said.

"What's that boss?" Ray asked.

"I'll send you the details of what I need. Uzo is too busy to handle this and i don't want my father to notice my movements. I am yet to get everything I need. Once it's done, I'll relive you all a little." Christopher said.

"No problem boss. I'll help you with anything you want and you know it. Just say it and I will do it." Ray said.

"Ok, Ray. I'll send you the details you need to know. Just remember to keep it as quiet as possible." Christopher said.

"Don't worry boss. I understand. Get some rest boss!" Ray said and hung up the call.

Christopher went about changing his clothes and getting ready to lie down for a few hours. When he eventually lied down, it was almost 3am. He laid down and pictures of his day started playing in his mind. He smiled at how he and Princess bickerd in the kitchen in the morning. He could still see her telling him that he couldn't cook. He wanted to give his daughter the childhood he wasn't oppotuned to have. He would make her feel all the love he never got to feel. He saw how they talked and laughed at the dining and how they all sat in the garden taking ice cream and laughing like a real family should. He couldn't wait for the time when he will be able to take theee two of them out and let any reporter take pictures. He was thinking all these things and that was how sleep came over him.
