Chapter Thirty Seven.

They got downstairs and met Blessing who was just coming in. "Good morning ma, Good morning sir," she greeted when she got to them.

"Good morning, how are you?" Rose answered.

"I am fine ma. How are you, princess?" Blessing asked Princess.

"Good morning ma, am fine thank you," Princess answered.

Blessing smiled brightly after Princess greeted her and bowed then walked away. "What her name?" Rose asked Christopher after Blessing has walked away.

"That's Blessing," Christopher answered. "Don't worry, you will get to know them with time," Christopher added.

"Ok. Go and take a seat while I prepare breakfast." Rose said. She walked into the kitchen and Christopher followed her in. "Why are you here? I thought I asked you to go and sit down?" Rose questioned when she saw him walk in behind her.

"I want to stay here while you prepare whatever you want to prepare. I want to watch." Christopher said.

"Me too. I want to stay with you in the kitchen!" Princess added.

"Chris!! Go and sit down while I prepare breakfast. Who cooks while wearing a suit?" Rose said looking him in the eyes.

"Geez!! You look scary when you glare at someone. What's wrong with me entering my Kitchen with a suit?" Christopher said.

"Princess!!" Rose called.

"Yes mom," Princess answered.

"Can you tell your father what I do when you don't listen to me in the kitchen?" Rose asked quietly.

Princess looked at her mom and then at her dad before saying. "You ban me from helping out in the kitchen for two months and I get to eat beans three times a week," Princess said and from her expression, one could already guess she doesn't like beans.

"Really? I am not a baby so that punishment can't work on me. Besides, I like beans, and from what I can see you cook beans because Princess doesn't like it." Christopher said.

"Mommy doesn't like beans as well. She never eats it unless it's with rice." Princess added.

"In your case, I will not make you eat beans. I will cook that vegetable soup you claim to love and then make sure you don't have a taste of it. Now get out and wait in the dining room!!" Rose ordered.

"What kind of punishment is that? I didn't know you are this wicked." Christopher said but when Rose glared at him, he raised his hands in the air and said. "Ok, ok... Fine. I will go. Just tell me what you are making for breakfast." He said.

"I'll make egg sauce. We'll eat it with bread and tea." Rose answered.

"Great!! I'll be in the dining room. Take your time." Christopher said and walked out.

"Wow, you are so cool, mom. You even know how to punish dad. You are awesome!!" Princess said as she raised her thumbs and smiled cheekily.

"Now, let's get to work!" Rose said as she took out some eggs and all other things she would need. In less than 10 minutes, she was done with what she was making and took it to the dining table. She carried the eggs and hot water for the tea while Princess helped with the bread.

Christopher who was sitting stood up to help Immediately he saw them come out of the kitchen. "Hmmm, this looks nice." He said.

Rose placed what she was carrying on the table and went back to get the things they need for the tea. Before she came back, Christopher had set the table and helped Princess to sit. She made the tea for Princess with Milk and milo while she made hers in the same way but with a little coffee. "How do you like your tea?" She asked Christopher.

"I take it the same way as you but with more coffee." He answered.

"Ok," Rose said and made his tea for him. All the while that she was setting the table, Christopher was just smiling. If anyone saw him, they would think he had won a lottery. Rose finished making his tea and sat down. They said the grace before meal and started eating.

"Wow!! Why does your food taste differently? This is so good it's making me think I haven't had egg sauce before." Christopher said.

"Thank you but, you need to eat up and go to work. What kind of a boss are you?" Rose said but she was happy that he was enjoying her food because a smile could be seen on her face.

"Are you trying to send me away? I have to take my time and enjoy my breakfast. Right, Princess?" Christopher asked. Princess nodded her head but didn't say a thing because there was something in her mouth.

"Anyway, before you go I'd like to ask about something," Rose said more seriously.

"Ok, what's that?" Christopher asked with all signs of playfulness wiped off his face.

"How does the house operate?" Rose asked.

"How? I don't understand your question. Can you be more specific?" Christopher said.

"Ok. What I mean is, how is the house run, what are the dos and don'ts of the house? What time does the two cleaners come in and what time do they leave? Things like that." Rose said.

"Ok, the cleaners come in at 7 and close at 4 pm. They can eat here as long as Mrs. Rita cooks. They both go to their homes but, I told them they could sleep whenever they didn't want to go home." Christopher answered.

"Why is it that they only eat if Mrs. Rita cooks?" Rose asked.

"Well, How do I explain this..." Christopher thought for a while and said. "Mrs. Rita runs the house while I am away. She assigns what they are to do and I allow her to be in charge of their payment. You see, I respect her as much as I respected my nanny and I treat her as one." Christopher said.

"Why then doesn't she stay in this mansion?" Rose asked and gestured at the house.

"That's her choice. She wants to stay in one of the small flats I built for workers and I allowed her. Maybe, now that you are here you can persuade her to come to stay in the main house with us." Christopher said as he drank the last drop of his tea. "Thanks for this great breakfast. I enjoyed it so much." He added.

Rose ignored his appreciation and asked, "what about Audu? Does he say or go?"

"Sometimes, he goes home, and sometimes, he stays. As I said, it's their choice. The security guards go home when their shift is over." He said.

"Thank you, mom. Thank you, dad." Princess said as she finished the last of her tea as well.

"You're welcome, baby," Rose answered while Christopher smiled at her. "Can I ask the cleaners to not clean my room and Princess's?" Rose asked.

"You are now the boss of this house. You can even sack them if you want and you don't need to ask for permission from me. This is now your house. Change and do whatever you like." Christopher said.

"Ok. Thank you. There is something else I want to know." Rose said.

"What's that?" He asked her.

"Does the plan for Monday still stand?" Rose asked.

"Yes. Everything is set and ready for Monday. I will take you around on Saturday." Christopher said.

"Ok. We'll go out but, you have to go on a lowkey. I have told you that I don't want to make myself know just yet. You know how all these bloggers and reporters are. They can do and undo." Rose said.

"I can dress as a madman If it will make you go out with me!! I wasn't even expecting you to agree." Christopher said happily.

Rose ignored him and started clearing the table. He got up and assisted in cleaning the table. They took the dishes into the kitchen and while Rose started washing, Christopher said. "I am off to work now. I'll see you in the evening."

"Goodbye, dad!!" Princess said.

"Take care, my princes. What do you want me to buy for you when I am coming back?" Christopher asked.

"I want apples!! Plenty apples!!" Princess said.

"Ok. I'll get you plenty of apples on my way back. Plenty apples!!" Christopher said and pecked her cheeks. He turned to Rose who was concentrating on what she was doing and said. "What should I get for the queen of the house?"

Princess was just watching them with a wide smile on her face. "I am not a baby. Just go to work and stop wasting time here." Rose said.

"Who says you have to be a baby before I get you something for you? What do you want?" Christopher asked as he caged her from behind.

"I... I have told you not to worry about me. Just... Go. Ok?" Rose stammered.

"Ok. I'll get you what I like. Have a nice day." Christopher said and kissed her neck.

Rose yelped and pushed him away. "Stop that." She said and looked at Princess who was watching them. "Can't you see that there is a child here?" She whispered. "Now go..." She added and pushed him out of the kitchen.

"Ok. Am going. I love you." Christopher said and waved as he walked away.
