CHAPTER 2

After calling my parents, I collapsed unto the floor, my heart heavy as I remember the first time I met Ethan.

Seven years ago, he was brought to the hospital where I work by his friends. He needed to pump his stomach after excessive drinking, I was his attending doctor.

After his discharge, he started pursuing me. It took him eight months before I agreed to be with him.

It wasn't until after one year of being together that I found out the reason he almost killed himself with alcohol .

It turned out that his first love left him for a rich man, then Ethan had nothing , he was just starting his company and Luna was not the kind of girl to suffer with anyone was because of a woman.

When I found out, I went to my father to invest in Ethan's company, and through the help of my father, I was able to help him win clients.

Most times, I had to leave my work and follow Ethan to meet clients ,I helped him to be what he is today.

He promised to always be with me, but after Luna came back three years ago , Ethan began to change.

Initially, I thought he was overwhelmed with work, and when I questioned him about his sudden change in attitude, he told me that I was overthinking things, and I decided to let it slide.

It wasn't until one day I went to Ethan's company to surprise him and found a woman touching him intimately that I realised that Ethan is no longer my own alone.

When we got home, I confronted him.

"Ethan, who was that woman with you today?."

"You mean Luna? she is my secretary."

"IS she the same Luna that left you for someone else?

"Eva, don't overthink things, Luna recently got divorced, and she has no one to help her, so I gave her a job."

"When were you planning on telling me?."

"Eva, there is nothing going on between Luna and myself. We are just friends now.

"When did she come back?."

"Three years."

"And when did she join you company ?."

"Almost the same time. what's the matter, why are you asking me?."

"Three years, and you did not deem it right to tell me?."

"Tell you, why should I tell you of my employee? Eva, when did you become this unreasonable ?."

"Me unreasonable, your first love came back, and you gave her a job in your company. When I asked for an explanation, you said I was being unreasonable."

"Eva, I can't reason with you now. When you calm down, we will talk." He said as he grabbed his coat and left the house, and for three days, Ethan didn't come home.

All through those three days, he was busy taking Luna around the city, and each time he took her out, Luna would send me provocative messages and pictures of their good times together .

If I don't humble myself and beg Ethan to come back, he won't.

I have pleaded with him to set boundaries for Luna.

I have pleaded with him that Luna is trying to get back with him. What did he tell me?

"Eva,stop targeting Luna. She has not done you anything ,she is just a young woman like you who wants to work. and she doesn't have rich parents like you supporting her. Stop making things difficult for her."

"Me make things difficult for Luna? Ethan, when did i make things difficult for her?."

"You think I don't know, all those provocative messages you send her,you think she doesn't show them to me?."

"Me send Luna provocative messages? Ethan, get you facts straight, Luna has been the one sending me provocative messages all these times"

"Eva ,will you shut up. When did you become like this?

"Ethan, why are you talking to me like this? What has gotten into you?."

"Eva, I'm telling you now, stop targeting Luna or don't blame me when I retaliate."

"You will retaliate against me for Luna?."

"You are lucky Luna is kind-hearted, and she doesn't blame you when you target her. Instead , she pleads for you with me."

"Luna pleads for me?."

"Eva, why don't you try and be more like Luna? Try and have a forgiving heart like her, and stop being jealous every time you see us together."

"Maybe I'm jealous of Luna but not for the reasons you think."

"Whatever your reasons are,I just think you're being unreasonable and targeting an innocent girl."

"Luna, an innocent girl? Ethan, have you forgotten that this same luna you are protecting abandoned you for another man?"

That got him. He stopped and looked at me before continuing

"Luna said she has gone out of her way to invite you out, but you keep turning her down .she just wants to be friends with you, why can't you accommodate her because of me?."

"You want me to be friends with Luna? Never, her kind of friendship, I don't need, thank you I have my own friends.
