Camellia sat on the couch in Miss Clara’s living room, wrapped in a blanket she couldn’t feel.

Her hair was still damp, strands clinging to her cheeks, her eyes swollen from tears that refused to dry.

The clock ticked somewhere behind her, steady and cruel.

Miss Clara moved quietly around the room, breaking the silence as she set down a cup of warm tea she knew wouldn’t be touched.

“You don’t have to talk,” she said gently, “But you do have to breathe.”

Camellia tried.

She really did.

But every breath came out shallow, trembling. Her chest felt hollow, like someone had carved out the center of her and left nothing but ache.

Everything kept replaying in her head… Amy’s confession, Lucia’s voice on the phone, the cold truth behind Williams’ decision. Every word, every sound, cut through her like broken glass.

How could Amy?

How could Lucia?

After everything.

She thought she had escaped her past. But tonight, it had found her again… this time in the voice of her sister, the betrayal of h

No one spoke for a long time.Just the sound from the wall clock as if mocking the silence that filled the room.Camellia sat frozen, her hands twisting in her lap. Williams waited, crouched in front of her, his voice low when he finally asked again.“Who was Eric Caddel to you?”Her throat tightened.“My past,” she said faintly. “And my biggest mistake.”Liam frowned. “What do you mean?”Shaking her head slowly, she replied. “He was… someone I loved.”The words fell heavy.Williams blinked, caught off guard. “You loved him?”Camellia nodded, eyes clouded with memories.“He was my first everything. My first safe place, my first laughter after chaos. Eric Caddel was gentle. Patient. He used to write my name on napkins and say it looked too beautiful to waste.” She gave a broken laugh. “And his mum hated me for it.”Miss Clara sank slowly into a chair, listening.Williams stayed still, silent.“His mum never thought I was good enough. She thought I was using him. But Eric didn’t care. H

The light from the hallway spilled into the room, slicing through the darkness. Liam’s hand hovered near the doorknob, his other instinctively reaching behind him.. as if to shield Camellia.“Who’s there?” he asked, his tone steady, but the tremor in his jaw betrayed him.No answer. Then, a voice…. low, familiar, strained.“Liam… it’s me.”Camellia froze.Williams? She rose from the couch too quickly, the blanket falling around her feet. Her heartbeat drowned out the rain. When he stepped into the light, his face looked carved by the night… eyes red, hair messy, tension dripping from his jawline, his shirt clinging to his chest. But behind all that, there was something else.Desperation. Guilt. Fear.Liam relaxed slightly but didn’t move aside.“You shouldn’t be here man,” he said quietly.“I know.” Williams’ voice cracked. “But I had to make sure she’s safe.”Camellia’s breath hitched.Safe.That word again. The one she no longer believed in.Miss Clara appeared from the hallway, rob

For a long second, no one breathed. The faint hum from the phone was the only sound filling the room.Amy’s grip loosened, and the phone dropped onto the bed.Lucia’s voice was still faintly audible on the line, muffled and distant.“…Amy, say something… please give Camellia the phone.”Camellia just stood there… drenched, trembling, staring at her like she didn’t recognize her anymore.“Lucia?” she repeated, quieter this time, almost to herself. “You were talking to Lucia?”Amy swallowed hard, her throat dry. “Cami, I…”“Answer me!”Camellia’s voice cracked like glass. The rawness in her tone made Amy flinch.“Yes,” Amy finally said, her voice breaking. “I was.”Camellia froze again. “For how long?”Amy’s eyes darted away. She wanted to say a few days, but lies would only bury her deeper.“For a while now.”Camellia’s heart plummeted. Her voice came out shaking.“You knew I wanted them out of my life… still you kept in touch with my sister and you didn’t tell me?”“It wasn’t like tha

The room was still vibrating from Ethan’s shout.Williams didn’t move. Neither did Camellia. The silence between all four of them was heavy…. too heavy for words to fix.Ethan’s eyes burned. His voice was low, shaking with disbelief.“You really went this far, Williams? After everything we said? After all the hard work we’ve put into this?”Williams opened his mouth but nothing came out. His throat locked, his pulse hammering.Camellia’s fingers trembled. She wanted to speak… to explain, to calm…. but guilt strangled her voice.Amy stood by the doorway, frozen. She had arrived seconds behind Ethan, but the scene before her said enough. She saw it in their faces…. the truth that would hurt all of them.Ethan’s jaw tightened as he looked away.“If you go through with this, I’ll never forgive you, Will, I promise I’ll hate you for it.” he said again, softer this time, but the words landed like a blade. He turned and stormed out, slamming the door behind him.Amy hesitated, her gaze flick

“Camellia!” he shouted again, voice cutting through the storm. She froze, turning. Recognition flashed across her face…. then panic. “Ethan? What… what are you doing here?”He stopped in front of her, eyes restless. “You have to stop him.”“Stop who?”“Williams,” he said breathlessly. “He’s about to do something stupid. He’s joining the cops. Says he’s doing it for you.”Her eyes widened. “What?”Amy frowned, stepping closer. “For her?”Ethan nodded. “He won’t listen to anyone else,” Ethan said, urgency sharp in his voice. “Maybe you can make him understand before it’s too late.”Camellia looked at Amy, torn. “I…”“Please,” Ethan said. “If you care about him even a little, don’t let him throw his life away. He’s worked too hard for this.”Amy stepped forward, voice tense. “We need to move. He’ll be gone if we don’t hurry.”Camellia’s hesitation broke. “Where is he now?”“At home.”She turned to Amy. “I have to go.”Amy sighed. “ I’m coming with you.”As they ran toward the street to c
