ログインLily’s POV
The brilliant white light slowly faded away into the air, leaving us in the dim, quiet light of the back breakroom.
Holden was still holding my wrists tightly in his massive hands, his grip firm but no longer hurting me. He was staring at me as if I were a ghost from an ancient story.
"A healer," he whispered under his breath, his voice trembling. "The ancient pack texts said the legendary healers were all wiped out a century ago by rogue factions.
That is why your very scent triggers my inner wolf so violently. You aren't a weak human. You are the only cure to the darkness inside my body."
"What darkness are you talking about, Holden?" I asked him, pulling my wrists firmly away from his grasp and standing up. "What is that stone Marcus had?"
"The high school ice rink," Holden said, standing up from the floor and pacing back and forth across the small room like a caged animal. "There is an ancient supernatural relic buried deep beneath the center of the ice.
It was placed there generations ago by our ancestors to protect the pack borders from evil. But someone has corrupted it. It is leaking black magic into the arena air.
Every time I skate, every time I breathe in the cold air at the rink during practice, the poison enters my body. It makes me violent. It is driving my wolf completely feral."
"Your dad is the current Alpha of the Blood Moon pack," I said, connecting the dots in my head using my grandfather's journal notes. "Why hasn't he stopped this? Why hasn't he destroyed the relic?"
"Because he doesn't know it is happening," a cold, mocking voice answered from the dark doorway of the breakroom.
The metal lock on the back door suddenly shattered into pieces with a loud bang. The heavy metal door swung open violently, hitting the wall. Marcus Flint walked straight into the room, a cruel smile on his face. He wasn't alone.
Three large, massive men stood right behind him in the shadows. They did not look like high school students at all. They had deep, jagged scars across their faces and eyes that glowed a sinister, dark red color. They were rogue wolves.
"Marcus," Holden growled out, his body moving instantly. He stepped quickly in front of me, shielding my small body with his own broad shoulders. "What are you doing here? This is pack territory."
Marcus smiled a sickening, wide smile. He reached into his pocket and held up the exact same glowing black stone piece I saw earlier through the front window under the streetlamp. "My father was the one who corrupted the arena relic, Holden.
Your dad stole the Alpha title from my family years ago through blood. This black stone is draining your pack's power every single day and giving it to us. We are taking back what belongs to us."
"You are a disgusting, pathetic traitor," Holden snapped, his muscles tensing as he prepared his body to fight the men.
"Maybe I am," Marcus chuckled darkly, stepping further into the room. "But tonight, your little fairy tale ends, captain. Your university scholarship is gone. Your reputation is completely ruined. And now, I am going to take your life so my family can rule the town."
Marcus nodded his head to the three large rogue wolves standing behind him in the rain. "Attack them. Kill the boy."
The three massive men shifted their bodies instantly right before my eyes.
Their clothes ripped to shreds as their bones cracked and grew. In less than three seconds, they transformed into gigantic, pitch-black wolves with burning red eyes and sharp fangs. They lunged across the small room, their jaws snapping wildly.
Holden did not hesitate for a single second to protect me. He let out a massive, deafening roar that shattered the lightbulbs in the ceiling, and shifted his body in mid-air.
A beautiful, gigantic silver wolf with fur like moonlight took his place on the floor. He intercepted the first black rogue wolf, crashing violently into the heavy display cases. The room exploded into a chaotic warzone of flying fur, dark blood, and broken wood.
Holden fought bravely, biting and clawing with immense strength, but it was three against one in a tiny space. The black wolves eventually overwhelmed him, biting his legs and pinning his massive silver body down to the hard floor.
Marcus walked over to the struggling silver wolf, holding the glowing black stone high in the air above Holden's head. The stone flared with an intense, dark energy.
Holden let out a painful, heartbreaking whimper as the black veins reappeared all over his beautiful silver fur. He lost all his physical strength instantly, falling flat against the floor, unable to move a single muscle as the poison flooded his heart.
"Stop it! Leave him alone!" I screamed, tears streaming down my face as I tried to run toward them to save him.
Marcus pointed a bloody finger directly at my face, a sickening, victorious grin spreading across his lips. "Don't touch her, boys. Look at her hands. She is the legendary healer we have been hunting for a hundred years."
Marcus stepped closer to me, his red-glowing eyes locked onto mine, trapping me against the wall. "With her pure healing blood, we can unlock the arena relic's full power and destroy this entire pack line tonight.
You are coming with us, Lily. You belong to the rogues now.”
Lily’s POVThe freezing white ice beneath my body did not feel cold anymore. In fact, everything felt completely different. I blinked, and the world became sharp. I could see every single scratch on the plastic barrier walls across the massive rink.I could hear the tiny drops of water falling from the ceiling blocks away. I could even smell the fear and sweat of every single person standing in the giant stadium.Holden stared down at me, his face a mix of pure joy and absolute shock. Lily, he whispered, his large hands still holding my cheeks. Your eyes.I sat up slowly, my head spinning from the sudden rush of power. I looked down at my hands. A faint, silver mist was dancing across my skin, warm and humming like a gentle engine. I felt stronger than I ever had in my entire life. The weakness from the black rock was completely gone. What is happening to me, I asked. My voice sounded different too. It was clearer, louder, and had a strange ring to it that made the pack warriors aroun
Holden’s POVThe cold from the ice rink was soaking through my jeans, but I did not care. The only thing that mattered was the freezing skin of the girl in my lap.Lily felt like a statue made of winter snow. Her fingers were stiff, and her lips were losing their warm pink color.Heavy footsteps crunched against the wet ice. I did not look up, but the familiar, powerful scent tells me it was my father.Alpha Thomas Vance knelt down in the slush right next to me. He placed his massive hand on my trembling shoulder. His golden eyes were dim with a deep sadness as he looked at Lily’s quiet face.Behind him, the rest of the Blood Moon pack warriors stood in a wide circle around us, lowering their heads in absolute silence.Holden, my father said, his booming voice remarkably soft and gentle for the first time in my life. She is gone, son. She gave her life to break the relic and save our people. We must honor her sacrifice, but you have to let her go.No, I growled, my voice rough and bre
Holden’s POVThe world went completely quiet. The sounds of the fighting pack, the shouting townspeople, and the dripping water from the melting ice all vanished. The only thing I could focus on was the girl in my arms.Lily was not moving. Her beautiful eyes were closed, and her face was totally blank. I kept my hand pressed against her warm neck, waiting for that familiar, steady thumping sound.Nothing. There was no pulse. Her chest was completely still. My fated mate was dead. She had taken a brutal hit meant for my head, using her own human body to save mine.Something broke inside my soul. It felt like a giant, burning tear ripped through my chest, letting out a monster that had been locked away for a thousand years. The fated mate bond did not just wake up. It exploded with a violent, terrifying power.A loud, cracking sound echoed through my bones. My muscles began to expand, ripping right through the fabric of my varsity sports jacket. My claws grew longer, sharper, and stron
Lily’s POVThe heavy iron pipe was coming down fast. Marcus had a disgusting smile on his face, his arms swinging the metal bar with full force straight at the back of Holden’s head. Holden did not see it.He was looking right at me, his hand reached out, his brown eyes filled with pure worry for my safety. If that metal bar hit him, he would not survive. He was just a human boy now.No, I screamed inside my head.My body was completely numb, frozen to the cold ice by the dark magic that had sucked away my energy. But seeing Holden about to die broke something deep inside my soul. I did not care about the pain anymore. I did not care if my body was broken. I refused to let Marcus take the boy who had just risked everything to save me.With a loud gasp, I forced my mind to snap the invisible chains holding me down. It felt like tearing my own skin, a sharp explosion of heat bursting through my chest.I threw myself forward, sliding across the wet, slick ice.Holden blinked in surprise
Lily’s POVThe arena was filled with the sound of heavy breathing and weak groans. I lay on the freezing white ice, my muscles feeling like lead. Every bit of the white light inside me had been ripped away by that horrible black rock. I could barely lift my chin to see what was happening. All around the spectator stands, the powerful Blood Moon pack enforcers were flat on their backs. Alpha Thomas was clutching his chest, gasping for air like a regular man running out of breath.Their wolves were completely gone, locked behind a dark wall inside their own minds. They were not supernatural protectors anymore. They were just ordinary humans, completely defenseless. The rogue wolves looked at each other, and then a loud, ugly sound broke the silence. They started laughing. It was a cold, cruel sound that echoed off the high metal ceiling. The rogues stepped over the plastic benches, their yellow eyes glowing brighter than ever in the dim sports lights. They did not have to worry about pa
Lily’s POVAlpha Richard’s fingers dug into my wrists like frozen metal clamps. I twisted my body, kicking my legs and screaming for help, but he did not even blink. His grip was too strong. I was completely helpless against him.Let me go, I screamed, my voice echoing wildly across the giant ice rink. Help me!Across the ice, Holden heard my cry. He turned his head away from his fight, his golden eyes widening in pure horror as he saw Alpha Richard holding me.Marcus used that split second of distraction to slam his heavy elbow right into Holden’s ribs. Holden groaned, stumbling backward against the plastic barrier, but his eyes never left me.Lily, Holden roared, trying to push past Marcus to reach the center of the ice.He was too far away. Alpha Richard let out a dark, mocking laugh and dragged me closer to the stone pedestal. With his other hand, he reached into his heavy leather jacket and pulled out the giant black rock. The corrupted relic was cracked, its surface covered in g
