Chapter Seventy-nine

Enzo

The morning felt brighter than any other morning.I didn’t need to see that to know it, I could feel it in the softness of the air brushing against my skin, in the warmth dancing across the room from where the windows faced east. The way the sheets felt lighter on my body, the gentle hush of the world just beginning to wake—it all told me morning had arrived.

It was going to be a day carved out just for her. A day to worship her, to drown her in joy, to wrap her in the kind of warmth that seeps into your bones and lingers long after the moment has passed. A day to make Rain feel more than just special—to make her feel seen, cherished, and utterly, selfishly mine. A day to bring her happiness back in full, vibrant color and make sure she didn’t miss a single breath of the pleasure she deserved.

She was still sleeping beside me, safe and peaceful.

I could tell, I could feel it. Rain’s breath was soft and steady, the kind of sound that could lull a man into beli

  • In The Arms Of The Blind Don   The Missing Daughter

Chapter HundredEnzoIt had been hours. Long, dragging hours of torturous silence, waiting for a result that could either fortify or completely shatter the relationship I’d been building with Rain. Time moved like it was crawling through wet cement. Every second was heavy. Suffocating. This wasn’t just another test result. No, this was the kind of truth that could split a soul in half. This result had the power to either keep everything intact or burn it all to ashes. If Rain turned out to be the daughter of this family… I didn’t know how to continue. I didn’t think I could. I didn’t think I could stay married to the woman who bore the blood of the very people who once stood beside the man that murdered my father. That wasn’t something I could make peace with. That would mean she was one of them, even if unknowingly. That she belonged to the same bloodline that tore mine apart. How was I supposed to live with that? How could I love someone who might unknowingly carry the same legacy t

  • In The Arms Of The Blind Don   The DNA Test

Chapter Ninety-nineEnzoI stared down at Rain’s wrist again. The small, crescent-shaped mark with two faint dots still showing beneath it and I couldn’t help but wonder, Could it be?Could she really be a part of the Riccio family? Was that even possible? Could that really be it?My mind rebelled against the thought. No. No, that couldn’t be. That wasn’t possible.Rain was Rain. Mine. She was a woman I met in a family that wanted her out, a woman with a smart mouth and a bruised soul. The girl who stitched my broken world together with laughter and her always curious questions. Not a lost heiress of a brutal syndicate. She couldn’t be part of h that family. No.She could be part of any other family. Just any family but now the Riccio’s. Not the ally of the syndicate that killed my father. No.I shook my head slowly. “It could just be coincidence,” I muttered under my breath, more to myself than anyone else. “Birthmarks happen. Anyone can have one.” I shrugged. Even though I knew I wa

  • In The Arms Of The Blind Don   The Birthmark

Chapter Ninety-eightEnzo I stood there like a ghost, my heart racing loudly in my chest. Pain stabbed at my gut, my body aching with the weight of the news. The thought of telling her burned a hole through my chest. How do you say something like that to the woman you love? How do you look her in the eyes after nearly losing her, just to tell her you also lost a part of the future? How do I tell her this? I didn’t even know how to go about it, I didn’t know how to tell her this news.Rain didn’t even know she was pregnant. She didn’t know we were supposed to become parents. She didn’t know she had a part of our future growing inside of her. And now… she would wake up to one heartbeat instead of two. She would wake up to one baby, instead of two. How do I tell her this? How do I even go about it?I pressed the heels of my hands into my eyes, trying to hold back the wave that kept threatening to drown me.Gregor stepped closer, his hand firm on my shoulder. “You’re not alone in this,”

  • In The Arms Of The Blind Don   The Loss

Chapter Ninety-sevenEnzoIt was supposed to be a good news. It was supposed to be the best news of my life, even greater than the fact that I could see now. It was something I had been looking forward to even though I didn’t talk too much about it. It was supposed to be a news we would celebrate.Rain was Pregnant. She was carrying my babies. She was pregnant with twins.Rain was carrying my children, and I had no idea. There was no warning, no sign, no subtle hint. She didn’t even know too. If she did, maybe she would have stood back and not tried to protect me, she would have had that motherly instinct to protect herself and the babies first. I didn’t even know why she keeps doing that, why she keeps getting in trouble trying to save me. It was just a knife, it would be just a stab mark. I wouldn’t have died from that. She could have just pushed me away and not stand in the target point.God, I was confused and drained. My heart continued to pound frantically in my chest, merciless

Chapter Ninety-sixEnzo“Rain!” I screamed again, cradling her in my arms.Everything around me shattered into noise and chaos, but I couldn’t hear any of it. All I could hear was Rain’s voice, the last broken echo of it, it rang in my head over and over again. Her blood was on me, all over my white shirt. Warm. Too warm.God, what do I do?“Rain,” I gasped again, shaking her gently, cradling her like if I held her tight enough, I could keep her here. Like if I held her like that, I could keep her alive. “Stay with me. Stay with me, please.” I begged, my eyes stinging with unshed tears. The music stopped, the hall now filled with people screaming, voices shouting, chairs scrambling off the floor as they rushed to my side. The lights in the hall flickered as the entire place dissolved into panic. Everyone was concerned, I could see it on their faces. But it didn’t make sense. None of it made sense. How could they be concerned when it was one of them who did this? How could they be con

  • In The Arms Of The Blind Don   The Syndicate Ball 2

Chapter Ninety-fiveEnzoIt had been a long time. Much longer than I could even remember. So long since I walked into this place with my eyes functioning, my eyes truly seeing and feeling every gaze that pierced into my body like daggers. This had always been the venue for the Syndicate Ball. The grand hall that hosted the most powerful and dangerous men in our world. It was an annual event, a gathering of alliances, silent threats, and temporary peace. I had never missed one. Not even once. But this… this was the first time in years that I walked in and truly felt the difference between the outside world and the world inside this hall. Before now, it had always been the same to me. It was just another room swallowed in darkness, just another place where I relied on sound, scent, memories and instinct to move. Back then, it didn’t matter if the room was gilded in gold or burning in red, I couldn’t even see it. Every venue was the same: black, blank and silent to my eyes. But tonight w
