Chapter 17

From Alassandra's POV

Two days had passed since I last saw Ikaris. And Lillian had not responded to any of my text messages or calls. I had yet to look at the file she had left. As much as I wanted to know what was in it, I couldn't find it in me to open it. The memory of my parents flooded my mind at the mere thought of the file. It was all I had left of them. The idea of finding something that would tarnish their memories was unbearable for me.

Vero had come to check on me, apologizing for not coming over sooner. In her defense, she said that since I had left with Professor Ikaris, she didn't think anything of it. I couldn't stay mad at her. If the tables had been turned, I wouldn't have thought anything of it.

"It's fine. I had a good time," I told her as we headed toward our first class. We chatted about our weekend plans before parting ways. Vero gave me a small hug goodbye before heading off to her class.
