Chapter 1

Ocean Waves

"Hey, Rio. Did you drive my daughter to the airport?" Amara's father asked when Rio had just arrived at their house after driving Amara to the airport.

"Yes, I did. I guess I have to wait for two weeks before I finally marry her," he uttered with a bitter smile.

Both of them sighed with his reaction. They all knew how the two of them wanted to marry each other as soon as possible. If only Amara doesn't need to do something in Canada, they are probably married by now.

"Amara is also devastated that you have to wait," her mother spoke and blew out a heavy breath.

"That's fine, I can wait. Besides, everything's ready. We just have to wait for the bri—"

"Uncle!"

All their eyes were captured to the entrance of the red-haired Gabriel, Amethyst Gabriel. She was taking a huge step towards them, wearing that fierce face with a glimpse of worries from her eyes.

"Amethyst. Is there something wrong?" Amara's father asked.

"You drove her to the airport, right?" Amethyst said to Rio.

"I did," he replied.

Now, her eyes went to Amara's parents. For a moment, she didn't know how to tell them the news that just spread. Amethyst crumpled her hands on the table as she closed her eyes emphatically.

"What's going on, Amethyst?" Amara's mother asked when she started to feel agitated.

"Her plane exploded," she announced, preventing their eyes.

Rio quickly stood up from the chair, starting to absorb what he just heard from Amethyst. It was a few seconds when none of them utter a single word. They were all in awe, trying to process what she just said.

"Explode? W-What do you mean?" Rio broke the ice. That moment, it seemed like he was about to lose it.

"Her plane exploded, it's an airplane crash." Amethyst repeated problematically. As soon as she heard about the news, she quickly headed there.

"Oh, god."

Her mother suddenly felt feeble, slumped down on the chair with her world collapsing.

"My daughter," she mumbled with her trembling hands.

Rio was in shock. His eyes were locked at nowhere as his mind was already absent and flying somewhere. It feels like he lost half of his life. He already absorbed it, but he didn't know how to even move.

"I want you all to search for her, now!"

"Agatha," Amara's father called weakly, trying to hold back his tears and remain strong for his wife.

"She's missing," she uttered with her teary eyes looking at them. Even how brave and strong they are, the news that suddenly came makes them weak and soft.

"I sent my secretary there. They said that Amara is one of those missing people from the plane," Agatha explained furtherly.

"I…I have to find her," Rio uttered, shaking. "I should f-find her," he added, but didn't know what to do.

"Calm down," her father said and grabbed his shoulders. "We have to be strong," he added with his voice that almost broke as tears began to escape from Rio's eyes.

He felt lost. It feels like he lost everything in just a snap of fingers.

"Does it mean that Amara can be alive…or dead?" Rio asked, filled with fear from his eyes.

Agatha hates to nod, but that's the truth. Slowly, she nodded.

"No," Amethyst said and stood up, declining to show her tears. "As long as her body is not found, Amara is still alive. I will make sure to investigate what really happened," she uttered firmly.

"These are the rooms where they could stay. We call it the Villa and we have different Villas here, this is the first one." His secretary explained while touring him around the island that he bought.

"Where's the other Villa?" He asked.

"Oh, it's located there. We decided not to place it in one place since the island is massive," she explained.

"That's good. But I want to change the paint of the buildings. I want something warm in the eyes," he suggested as he was examining the dark paint of the first Villa. Misty, her secretary, quickly jotted it down.

"What is this? A fountain?" He asked when they were passing by the old fountain.

"Yes, sir."

"Restore this. It would be good in the eyes," he uttered with a smile. "Also, tell all the people here that I want to hire them."

"Copy, sir." Misty answered.

There are a lot of residents on the island. Instead of hiring other people to work there, why not hire them so they could make a living as they also live on the island that he bought?

"This is the sho—" Misty intervened when Gavin's phone suddenly rang.

"Hold on, I have to answer this." He said as he saw his cousin's name on the screen.

"What do you need?" He said as soon as he took the call.

"Am I interrupting you? We just want to pester you," Gabe Clyborne chuckled on the other line before he heard other laughter over the phone. Gavin shut his eyes as he knew that they were all probably at Larisa's cake shop, Gabe's wife.

"You know that I'm fvcking busy on my island!" He exclaimed with annoyance.

"Hey, you should have not bought that island! Why not find a woman that you can marry?" Estevan now said on the phone before he laughed, teasing him.

"I don't have a plan to get married," he uttered and shook his head as he began to walk around the island. The wind was blowing hard. Every wave of the ocean can be heard around.

"Tsk. Make sure to restore that beach because we're coming there soon!" Estevan said on the phone.

"Remember, you're not for free. You all have to pay when you go here," he said, reminding them before they could even do it.

"We'll see about that," Gabe uttered and laughed.

"Stop annoying him," he heard Larisa say.

His feet stopped when his eyes were locked on the shore. His brows met for a second.

"What the hell?" He mumbled.

"What? Are you ok—" he quickly ended the call as he took a big step.

"Misty!" He exclaimed to Misty who was already talking with the other people on the island.

"Yes, sir?" She asked, a bit far from him.

"Do you need something, s—holy hell," she gasped and blocked her lips with her hand.

There was a woman on the shore, floating on the ocean waves. The side of her forehead was bleeding along with the other wounds from her body and yet her beauty was still enticing.

"Who the hell is that? Is she dead?!" Misty asked, panicking.

Gavin remained silent and checked her pulse.

"No, she's alive." He uttered in relief.

"What do we do? Do you know her?" Misty poured all her questions as she didn't know what to do.

Without hesitating, Gavin carried her like a bride, ignoring if he gets soaked.

"I know her," he uttered before he began to walk away with the woman in his arms.

"She's Amara Gabriel," he mumbled as he eyed her.
